Ahhh Jho its so great to see you back. Even if its a comic without your fighter you still never fail to impress. Your inks are loosey goosey, but not messy. They really give off an effortless style that's enjoyable to rove over. I especially like that your buildings and environments aren't done with the line tool. Not 'exact' and rigid, you know? There's an organic feel to it that harmonizes with the characters. The white outline on them to pull them out of the background was a nice touch too. I am SUCH a sucker for silent comics that let the art do the talking and this is no exception. Really wonderful story, for what we saw. Something tells me there's so much more that goes on once the pages run out! :)

I really like your art style! The facial features you draw, especially on the woman, just seem so soft. In a sense it reminds me of the old 1980's manga style of the likes of Tezuka, and gives me quite a feeling of nostalgia :o

So wonderful dude, you've been like one of my favorite void artists since I first got here, and everytime I read your stuff I remember why. You make storytelling seem so effortless and natural.

I wasn't expecting that ending--a very interesting twist with a cocktail of emotions built in. My only real critique for your AMAZING comic is that the one line of dialogue you have in there sounded awkward. The punctuation was weird, and I didn't understand what OT meant at first. Maybe it's just me being stupid, but there you go! Other than that, just WOW. I hope we get to keep seeing a lot more of you around here lately! :)

aww man jho I love it. I read the whole thing like, three times! Great quality for a 24hr comic and you really got an eye for storytelling.

Wow, this comic was really REALLY well done for a 24 hour. It is hard to believe someone can dish out that many high quality pages in 24 hours. The style was wonderful, the pace flowed from panel to panel without a hitch as far as I can tell, and the sexiness left me wanting to see more. I just loved it really.

This is my favorite comic this year, probably in the past two years. Even though I often make the characters in my comics talk too much, deep down what I really adore is these silent comics. The film 3-Iron is in my top 3 favorite films of all time, and Gendy Tartakovsky's work with silence in his animation, have all been very inspiring to me. Adding this comic to that list as well. Maybe someday ill be able to produce a silent story at even a fraction of the power. I guess as far as critique, the backgrounds in the first few pages, the buildings, they felt unfinished or too loose, that problem goes away in the rest of the comic.

I shall ask the writer if he's ok with it :) it was supposed to be in liquid city but I'm slow at colouring so..

Interesting way to go about it, directed but without limiting your own vision. You succeeded in capturing the impulsive passion of the kiss, and the awkward aftermath of her exit, definitely. I think with some sprucing this comic would work well in our Black Stripe Anthology as the it sort of suits the theme and I'd love to run my hands over those inks. Consider it?

Tin, thanks! It was pretty easy, silent comics relies on description and he gave me just that :) here's an excerpt: ---------------------- Setting: Chinatown shophouse with roof top. Scene: Office (advertisting? PR?) We see a few office workers busy in front of their PCs; xeroxing stuff, etc. Focus on guy (specs/tie) and girl (executive/sales types in power suits and all) Foreground: she's at the photocopying machine, glowing, hot, light from machine throwing on to her face. Background: he's reading stuff. Air-con breaks down - she takes off her jacket. Shows off her figure, tight-fitting tube top, sexy babe. Big. Scenes of people working. But they don't talk to each other. They don't seem to notice each other. They don't know it yet but we are aware of the subtle sexual tension between them. We know something is about to happen. Focus on him, we lose sight of her. (etc) ---------------------- I think what makes it work is the description is direct but yet still gives me enough freedom, which is important in silent comic collab. Thanks for the very kind comment! Paperman hadn't come out when I did this but to have that comparison is such an honour :D My biggest hurdle was drawing the kissing scene, I'm pretty atrocious at those kind of direct stuff. wei: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEN (and vielen dank :D )

Jho- thank you for blessing us with a mere taste of your work. I'm interested in how you we set up with the writer because silent comics are never easy, yet your skill as a storyboarder shines through. For a 24 hour comic you demonstrate incredible economy, shot variety and pacing. Your beats all succeed from the clocks ticking to the can in the receptacle. I envy how much you accomplish with your bold black masses and spare lines- its a testament to your skill that you produce so much on so little time. I sense you took a page from Paper Man but took a turn for the titellating. It positively SMOULDERS.

That was really amazing, jho! The whole things was so well crafted. The cigarette scene was my favorite part, and when he's sitting at his desk waiting on the clock. Quiet and powerful--amazing work! Props to the writer, too :D

I uploaded it yesterday. It's my 24 hour comic, the first 14 pages were done on the day but I was too tired to continue, so the rest were done the day after. Collabed with a singaporean writer .. Hope you guys enjoy :) (those who haven't seen it at least )
