CRACKINGSKULLS- oh man oh man. character development, awesome action and super great inks. Definitely what I love to see in my comics. Not to mention so many pages! You definitely put your 4 weeks to good use. The angling of your camera on shots like Xia belching fire into Regi's face was super groovy as well as the VCPD's uniforms were very creative. Keep up the great work! GREGLY- Always cool to see other fighter cameos in battle submissions. The reasons behind the fight seemed a bit surprising (was it a photo? she didn't have a copy or original file?) and Regi finding an organic being attractive was unexpected. His appearance totally gave me the impression he was more like he was in Xia's comic- totally to task and programmed for justice! :) Its an odd but appealing match up those two. Admittedly your pages were a bit rough and looked like they were still works in progress. Here's hoping your future attempts get better and better

CrackinSkulls - I love the strong clean lines. Next time I'd like to see a little texture or shadow, some more solid black spaces maybe. I really like your style, so keep it up! Gregly - Your style has such a charm to it! One thing about the colors--they were sort of rough. Do you scan your art to Photoshop? If so, perhaps for the next comic try keeping the line art and colors on different layers, I'm sure it will look neat! Can't wait to see more from these characters!

Skulls : Great linework, well crafted story. I enjoyed it a lot. :D Gregly: I laughed my ass off at the laugh page. It was seriously the funniest thing I'd read in a while. I'm always distracted by your guidlines in your comics. You have a great cartoony style that would lend itself to cleaner linework. I hope you'll address this issue in the future. :)

Haha, thanks for the comment Bobo! I was a bit worried that I made everyone act out of character. I'm going to try to make my comics a lot neater than this in the future!

Great battle, both of you! I love how each of you took a very different approach in terms of storyline, artwork, and comic length, but both were still wonderful comics. CrackingSkulls: Your linework is clear, crisp, and professional. I enjoyed your attention to details like background objects and differentiating side characters. That goes a long way into making a believable world, and you pulled it off well. The panels where you used a tone instead of a fully rendered background felt purposeful and helped focus on the action rather than just feeling like you didn't feel like drawing backgrounds. Your use of color for Gwen's magic and Xia's fire was a nice touch that I wasn't expecting. You also did a decent job with expressions, and even gave Gwen's hat some personality, which I didn't notice at first. That being said, there were a few panels I found confusing. The third and fourth panels on page one took me a while to figure out. Breaking out of the panel is good (you did a good job of this throughout the comic), but it made the two panels seem to flow together. I didn't see the guy's face in the third panel at first, and thought the fist belonged to the fourth panel. It could just be because I'm tired, but pay attention to things that could be less than crystal clear like that. The last panel on page 7 also felt a bit confusing. I think if you had zoomed out and showed Xia throwing her coat onto Regi with a more complete picture of Regi, it would have been easier to understand. I did get the general gist of it right off, however, so no biggie. I LOVED the fight scene with all of Xia's fire. Just LOVED it. I didn't get that Regi was shooting a laser beam at first, but I must have just been half asleep when I read that panel, because now it's so painfully obvious that I can't believe I missed it. The paneling was great for the whole battle; very dynamic. Awesome work! gregly: You're style could best be explained as freakin' adorable. I love Gwen's ongoing thing with Toro Joe. I also liked that you used actual VOID characters for your background characters; it brings an extra flair to the already great comic. However, I would be careful how you use VOID characters in the background. I doubt Leland would be egging on any kind of fight, for example. The plot was fairly predictable, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the comic. Your use of facial expressions and body language especially added to the characters and their interactions, and made the comic much more interesting than it would have been otherwise. The last panel on page 4 was a perfect example of this, and it made me gleeful inside. The pencil drawings with color seems to work well for you, but I would like to see how it looks a little more cleaned up. Not necessarily fully inked, although that would be nice, but at least without the speech bubbles that you erased but are still visible. But overall, it was just a great comic. I can't wait to see more from each of you! Keep it up!
