Well, I would recommend screen tones or just flat values of grey as you had ion PG 2 or 3. or create the textures in a painterly way as on your cover. You can also make textures with traditional materials and scan them in for digital use for a nice effect.
I liked it, decent setup, sorry you lost pages, hoping to see where you take it. But I don't like the Photoshop FX looking stuff, I.E. you should have drawn arena's logo on the front cover, it looked to clean by comparison, and that texture on the last page bothered me too.
AAAAAAh-- what
This started pretty strongly, I think. You totally had me interested,
then BAM
THE END
You do have me intrigued, but at the cost of frustration. It's kinda like the whole comic builds up and cuts right before the climax.
Narative blue balls...
Anyway, good job, now show us more!
everyone ends up with having this issue at some point. The important thing is to be able to pick yourself back up and try your best next time. Since we all know that remove bad luck and you can do better, next time will improve upon this time :) that's something to look forward to.
@ Wolcik - I admit I should've added more shading and extra background details. There was so much I wanted to do with this comic, had it not been for my computer busting out on me.
And now that I look at the last page, it does look off. She's supposed to be reading it away from her face. But thank you heaps for your critique.
It's like a bullet fast, strong penetration of the subject and leaves a little gilt - for being this short in this case. You got your message across, but I'd want to see more, more character interaction, but I guess it's just a start.
Lines are clean enough, but the small amount of grey shading is something to be worked on, you could make your backgrounds less flat just by adding some more variation of them. Last page being espacielly guilty of that - the card isn't clearly right before the character - we don't know if she's holding it to her cheast like a love letter, or reading it far away from her face like an old lady or as if she'd despite the card - small greyish color on her body would clear that all.
Overally,I want more from you! XD
It's uploaded.
Ugh, I had a TERRIBLE time doing this one. First it was an art block that stopped me from progressing, then life commitments. And later, just when I was getting right into it, my computer went BUST. The majority of my work CORRUPTED. I was so disheartened I almost quit, but I was able to save and finish whatever I had left on my USB connector.
Next time, I'm going to be smarter with my saving and not let this happen again. I really did want to do good with this one.
Just giving an update:
Currently I'm going through a horrible art block, and I'm struggling to finish the pages. So don't be surprised if you see a rise and drop in art on different pages.
