Both the art and story were perfect. If I had gotten to this while voting was still going on, it would very likely have been 10s all-around.

And when Angie gets an incurable heart disease that requires medicine from the future that will be delivered by her future children in order to fight off an impending threat, you will now know why.

Good collab you two! Fowlie, I scrolled down to read your back story a bit and I must say how impressed I am with how far your work and storytelling has come. You explained the details enough for me to easily put things together for this story and also get an inkling of just WTF is going on through Nova's head or might be going on. You tuened a gag of Nova joining GP into something a whole lot more and I appalled you! It has been a pleasure watching you grow as an artist AND a writer.
Glad you've been enjoying them :D I'd pretty much done all I'd wanted to battle side/from a competitive standpoint so I figured working with people on collabs would be a much more exciting adventure to tackle on Void and I'm glad everyone seems to be enjoying it! Tackling all these different lineart types as a colorist has been great training for pro work. I would love to someday do a continuation with Fowlie, we shall see! We've talked about it but nothing is set in stone.
I hope there is a continuation of this storyline, I'm really interested to see how Sammy and Nova's relationship evolves, and of coarse to see more of little Anya. I'm loving these colabs you've been doing lately Angie, its always awesome to see 2 veterans of void come together to produce something truly great. I've always been a big fan of you Fowlie, I think your one of the best writers/artist on the site, and this was no exception. MOAR PLEAZE!!!
Nova's struggle to try and recover some kind of lost happiness of better days is very prevalent in this comic, and not knowing te background of nova and sammy's relationship didn't affect the messages of the story to me really. It was clear in it's ambiguity if that makes sense lol
His strife in this comic in particular really spoke to me, but most paternal stories do, so~
As a newer member I didn't get to look much into nova's story but what I did see always interested me, and maybe not knowing everything that happened to him actually enhanced my enjoyment of reading later comics like this and arma, like seeing glimpses and hints of the true colors of a complicated man.
And for fun things that people may not have noticed on the read through as well as some random tidbits
-If you didn't catch that this was a future comic, that's older Boek and Danielle talking at the party. Nova also comments on how long it's been since Angie and Julia had adopted Karl. Karl is actually Dawgmasta's character from WFA, Little Flat and was named after Mize's artist. (provided I think we spelled his name wrong, I couldn't remember is he used a C or K haha)
-Angie being a teacher was Fowlie's idea since she said she had a bunch of lesbian biology teachers. So Angie teaches biology! haha It's pretty easy to become a teacher in Void!
-If you didn't closely look through the 9 months page, Fowlie has a ridiculous amount of awesome jokes on that page. That page especially was the funnest to color because I would catch more surprises she'd left in there.

I'm afraid a lot of this battle may go over the heads of people not up to date with Nova and his past battles. It didn't start this way, but it kind've became a love letter to story lines that never happened and my friends on void.
In 2008 I got Tammy and Sammy's artist Corny to let Nova join her all girls-superhero-good guys gang called Girl Power, mostly for the LOLZ. Shortly after that I did a battle with Dawg with his underused character Betty Bukkake, and thats where Nova's story officially began...

After that I decided I wanted to do a BB written around an ending line "Thats no pedophile, thats my brother!" where JJ has a brother that looks just like her and is also a pedo (why JJ's artist let me stay at her house when vising Toronto while I was drawing this, I'll never know XD) but in that comic Nova interacts coldly with the other members of the house, not sure why he is there, until he catches wind of JJ's brother, who is sniffing around little Sammy, who at this point was 9. Nova saved her virtue with the use of a crow bar. And that created a bond between the Demon and the Ginger.

Now HERE is where it gets a bit icky for you guys. That story line WAS going to lead to GANG WARZ, a huge colab comic between Bad Star and Girl Power. In it, GP would be trying to get Tammy back to being a good guy, BS was trying to explode the GS compound, and Nova was going through the death of his sugar daddy lover Dr. Fabulous, while Sammy was in the hospital recovering from another battle with her sister. You don't really need to know this to enjoy the comic, but I think it gives you a bit more background on the two then there is on Void.
GO HQ got exploded, Sammy confronted her sister, and lost, and Nova bleed to death after trying to fight Jong. This would have left Sammy homeless, bitter with her sister and heavily morning Nova.
But that whole story ended in a fading whimper when GANG WARZ wasn't done, leaving Tammy forever evil and Nova and Sammy with a strange, understanding relationship. Kind've sucks that that story never got told, but oh well.
I included the lines about Bad Star and Tammy to help give reason to their future relationship (this BB is set 6 years into the future, making Sammy around 16-17) of Sammy being his ward. Sammy couldn't have the baby because A, she is still very young, B, there were no previous plans for a baby by Nova until this golden optionality came, and C, Nova and Sammy's relationship is ill-defined, a bit illegal and in a constant state of one of them being manipulated by the other, its not healthy for either of them.
The writing in this is meant as a false happy ending for Nova and the people around him. Everyone is in a wold of being fake to people's faces and catty behind their backs. Everything is shallow and at face value. Nova doesn't drink anymore, but is still deeply troubled and a ticking time bomb of emotion and violence.

This comic took place several years in the future so it doesn't effect the current storyline. So you won't see Karl and Anya anytime soon. If Fowlie and I ever revisit this and decide to do a continuation you will :D
Excellent work you guys... Just as good if not better than most of the stuff on the comic book shelves these days... I am honored to be in the presence of greatness.
I really enjoyed reading this you guys, I don't really have much to say about it right now since I'm kinda tired and just finished packing to go back to my place (and thus back to college haha) but I don't really think there would be a lot I'd nitpick at anyway. The only thing is that some of the writing felt a little...forced I guess, I can't really explain it. Maybe it's just because I've read it while being really tired.
and now I'm rambling so I'll just cut it here haha. Cool beans.
Thanks guys :D I don't know if this comic is really the best example of continuity since it's more like a Christmas special and takes place in the future, but the compliment is appreciated nonetheless.
This is what VOID needs more of. Strong story, clear character development, and more emphasis on continuity. This is a pro comic. TAKE NOTE!

Brittnay-yeah we talked about it being kind of funny how Nova and Angie turned out in the future considering they're both pretty dark characters in the present. But you never know! Nova obviously didn't entirely kill off his demons so I imagine there's still some dark things in Angie's life. As for Sammy, I could totally see her being the one that found the whole duct tape koolaid mess which forever changed her.
Ohhhh man, I really dig this. I really don't even know what to say. It's quite a turnaround for the characters (Nova--I MEAN YURI--especially, maybe even for Sammy!), but you guys still managed to make it work. Sometimes those random AIM brainstorm conversations are all it takes to make a gem like this. I've always been a fan of your work, individually, so when I see something come together like this...I know that we are ALL in for something pretty darn entertaining. On a side note, because I might as well mention it, the lines, and the colors, look really great together. This was definitely worth the wait.
