Orange, nice work for a first timer! really lovely colors and energy, although the story was a bit light. you seem to have it together pretty well, so there isn't much for me to say. if this wasn't a tournament (and a speed death one, at that), i'd say that it's time for you to start pushing your boundaries a little bit and experiment with things out of your comfort zone. more dynamic inking, pushing details, deeper character development, all that stuff. still, it's understandable if you wanna stick to what you're good at for a tournament like this one. looking forward to more of your work, and hopefully more challenging material after this event is over!

Orange, very VERY strong first entry. Not much story, but who cares about a novel when we're all on deathrow. Short and cool comic. It had a little bit of horror mixed with some stylishness. Like how you drew Mr Bumbles on the third panel of the 1st page. I'm liking the angle you picked when he meets Straps in that last panel. She looks cute in a creepy kinda way. (keep doing that!) Sweet flow on Mr. Bumbles in those three panels. My only crit is add either more highlights or shadows. The equal dark colours makes some stuff look frozen in time. Still solid and short like the old days :D Stick around after this!

Hey, Orange. I've gotta say, my favorite part of your comic? The atmosphere. I felt it. It'd be nice to see more contrast in your coloring. Consider how BRIGHT a light source looks in a dark room, eh? That trash-can should have been throwing sharper shadows and highlights about. Anyway, this was a very strong first submission-- albeit, a bit rushed. I realize the week-long rounds are a bit tight, but I'd love to see what you could do with a longer drawing time. I can't wait to see you in round two!

yeah everyone said all the stuff already I think, but I agree this was a strong first comic! your characters were looking cool I liked ur mr. bumbles. The dark palette was ok and made it creepy. But it was maybe a bit too dark, remember that you don't have to use heavy black to make it appear dark, it's all about the context your colors that make a particular one look dark or light. Hmm. this is hard to explain, my point is with the right palette, you can achieve a dark or nighttime feel without going so dark and dull. someone who is better at coloring could prob. explain better. :P just remember the appearance of any color is strongly affected by the colors around it, try experimenting w/ that.

Nice first comic! Please stick around on Void after the tourney! I really enjoyed your interpretation of the characters. I do think the dark tones were a problem, maybe adding some little hints of reflective light here and there would help? That's always my hax way of dealing with dark tones. It's not necessarily realistic, but it does make things easier to read in very dark scenes.

@Kuro - Yeah, I kind of got slammed with 6 college projects all going on simultaneously I'm trying to finish up. I'll definitely try and get a better story out for the next time! @Will - Thanks, I think its really short too. I wanted to add in at least a couple more pages but time didn't really permit much else. But don't kill me xD!

the art's ok but there's not enough meat here to be a story. understandably, you can't do a lot in just one week, but in the future, aim to be a little more ambitious, as we want to read interesting stories, not interesting story fragments.

I like the pervasively dark tones throughout, it speaks about the character and the mood of what is going on. I just think it's a bit too short but otherwise great job. I really like the idea that the people who lose become your new stylized minions. Keep recruiting. Unless it's me cuz then I'll have to kill you.
