omg I feel so bad I haven't really been able to comment on Void much lately with the man keeping me at Starbucks and all, anywho..
Corny-I know that your heart wasn't in this but I do wish you'd given your art a little more love. This was a pretty big step down for you artistically. Now it doesn't SUCK but certainly isn't your strongest effort. I thought the choose your own story thing was cute, it's perhaps something you should do in a later battle.
Owlgem-Fortunately I know the deal with Andrea's wife but if I didn't, I would have assumed the wife had left him from looking at the cover. The cover itself raises questions for the reader so I wish it would have been touched on a little in the comic. I really liked the traditional coloring here but you probably should have bumped the levels up just a little in Photoshop so they wouldn't look washed out. Story wise I didn't see what others saw which was you trying to be funny and serious, I mostly saw it as serious. I enjoyed the comic and hope to see what's going on with Andrea. (granted I already know to an extent haha but it's not the same as seeing it in comic form)
Corny: you don't suck as much as you think you do, lady :p This is still really cute even though you unfortunately didn't follow through with the idea.
Gem: I think the characters here are fun and unique, but the backgrounds are a bit generic. For example, Andrea's kitchen is a checkered floor and plain, grey cupboards. It works, yes, but it would give your backgrounds a lot more character and interest if you try for more specific details. Photo references help a lot with this.
Also I'm seeing the outlines as kinda grayish, with the colors looking washed-out. I'm not sure if it's just my own monitor, though... if it isn't, I suggest messing with the pages in Photoshop a bit to get the nice, sharp blacks.
anyway, I liked the crazy Andrea and am looking forward to this BB. :3
Corny: Pffft...wow that demon thing almost made me pee myself. Your comic was very amusing, though short.
Gem: Oh shit Andrea no! Be better. I feel so sad for yoooou.
Both: Haha...fat doggy.
Corny: Yours made me laugh and that kind of passive "aw, that's cute" way. Like people have said, it wasn't fantastically creative or anything, but it certainly wasn't BAD.
Gemma: I loved how the dog was pretty much like "LOL WHUT 8D" throughout the majority of the comic. Marlin was funny, and Andrea was kinda funny until he started with the whole "You think I don't have the balls to kill it" thing. Then when he threw up...I dunno, it seemed kinda random to me. Like, YEAH, he's drunk and all, but the blood? I may have missed something from earlier in VOID, but that seemed entirely out of place. Overall, it wasn't terribly entertaining, I'm afraid. However, whatever method you use to color - keep doing it. I love it.
Corny: Maybe it's because I knew what you had been originally thinking of doing, but I was extremely disappointed here. The art is fine and I enjoyed that... but it was a let down as it was.
Gemma: I was surprised to see trads, but they look very nice. I'm not as bothered as some by how amusing and then depressing it was... considering Marlin being featured first and his comical nature and then introduce Andre who is miserable and dealing with something really really bad that just happened, it made sense to me when the two came together. Over all, I liked it. And given the time frame you worked in it turned out well. I'll look forward to the BB.
Overall, all scores went for Gemma here. Nice job.
I know how that is(Gemma). I call it multiple personality.
Your colors are awesome, and i did love the twist in the story. It leaves people at the edge of there seat.
Delya: yeeh the story went a little nutso, at first it was supposed to be funny, then i changed my mind like a million time throughout the whole thing XD; thats why its sort of a bad balance. but im glad you liked the art. looking forward to reading your own battle
Corny: Cute art, you've really progressed faster than most artists I've seen on this site. While the comic wasn't amazingly entertaining or creative, it wasn't bad either. :> Felt more like a quick portfolio piece than a story.
Gemma: I absolutely LOVE your traditional work and I think you should keep with it in your comics. It's different and really gives your art more detail than your digital work seems to have. You obviously know your way with markers ahaha. The story was... interesting. I can't say I liked it, it's like you tried to be funny and depressing at the same time- which just made the whole thing overall depressing and really not enjoyable. I am still very curious to see where this story goes, though. 0:
So yeah, Andrea gets my vote for the lovely arts alone. Both of you were pretty even story wise. Keep it up, both of you. You're two of my fave artists here and I'd like to see more. <3
I was anticipating a bit more from this, but this will do.
Corny: You said it yourself already that you're not proud of yourself on this submission, but I would not call it a complete waste of time.
At least you finished SOMETHING. I will say that I expected more from you, and because of that- I don't exactly have much to say about your submission in any technical way. For 2 weeks, it is decent. Good job.
Gemma: I got to see this through progression, you already know what I think, so I'm not going to break it down completely.
Your colors came out amazing. I adore how you went with your copics. Your colors you use to blend just mesh so well and make things POP. It is something I am jealous of. Story-wise, the pacing was good and flowed well. You started us off with knowing that SOMETHING went wrong, but end with a cliffhanger (some people might not enjoy that, and normally it's kinda like going "I didn't finish", but I realize you're currently working on a BB, I'm personally okay with that) Yeah, Great job, my favorite out of the entire thing is the dog's expressions and... the butter. LE-EU!
I submitted.... I'm not proud of myself. I feel like I wasted both mine and owl's time with this, since from the start I could never really get into it.
I'm sorry ; ;
