I was re-reading your work Jetaime, and I have to admit, I didn't catch Gibson V's story the first time around, but reading it all through, it is certainly clear. I think that's fantastic. He's not your character but you gave him a very solid background and played him well. I just wanted to add that to your merit, it certainly makes the story really strong. Plus Gibson is a cool character anyways.

I loved both stories - moving and epic and everything I want to read in a comic. Good Job

Hiemaei~your work in the last few panels~reminds me of a Girlfriend I no Longer Hanve (save mayybe in Spirit). There was a couple photos of us taken near a beach where the natural environment and the way the photos were developed in the chemical wash made it look like there was like an ephemeral heart shaped Aura around us. Twisted Sister and Brother where for art thow Forever! Jeti ame...I'm straight envious of your Darling Work. And to raise your Kunda-... while awaiting your next installment....I skip finger on damp windows with tic tac friction...

jet, your art looked as though it would have been very nice but the light pencils over gray background was just uncontrasty enough to give me eye strain. and i don't find eye strain entertaining. i got through it & the story was nice, but it seemed a little overly ambitious & the same story could have been told in a lot less by cutting out bits in the middle. there's a couple whole pages where they're just standing around talking. consolidating there i feel would have optimized your time. hiemie, i laughed at the development of the ex-wife angle. it seemed unexpected. and while i'm not always a fan of your art style it did work very well with this i feel. squid makes a good point about the splatters though. while they may have been to simulate dust or grime, it got a little too out of hand at times where it felt it should die down a bit more. but understandably there's not like an undo for that. props for finishing. i gave you the edge in my vote.

Heimie, very nice handling of the ink+ watercolors this time; I think it works great. I think the ink splatters were too much, though. and some of the pages were maybe too dark, especially that last page.. I don't know what happened there.. too much gray. I'm sorry you felt you had to kill off your own character. :/ It made a good story, though. jet, way to conclude it, haha. You had such a nice rhythm with this. and I loved the ending with the Baron. I just wish it were more than bare pencils!! In certain panels, you give us these tastes of what you *could* have done if you had wanted to, but mostly it was all too unfinished! It isn't so bad though, because your compositions are good enough that, while unfinished, they don't feel empty. But I don't really understand why you kept the gray. Too distracting. rrrrr why not finish sometimes? >:I you give us all nosebleeds when you are at your full brilliance.

Wow, I thought these were both awesome. They both did a great job of capping off a great tourney so kudos on a job well done to you both. Jetaime: I gave you the nod. I love your pencils and even though they felt a little sketchy at places when you consider the page count and time limit, this was a solid effort. I wasn't crazy about the great tone either but I understand all too well why you used it. I hate the transfer between page to computer. So the story was great although the one problem I had through all the rounds was that Kirin never got the spotlight. I was a bit disappointed about that. The main thing that struck me about this entry was you really took those comments of changing up the camera angles to heart. Very nice, there were some really great ones in there. My favorite being the last panel on page 4. So I could keep going (happily) but it would just be gushing. Great work. I very rarely hand out 10s but you got one in entertainment cuz I enjoyed this a lot! Plus the Baron showing up at the end made it feel like there was a sequel coming. XD Hiemie: Solid entry. I'm not a big fan of the color technique but it has it's charm, especially considering the character. The humor was a little sparse but that is expected in a climax. The baron never really clicked with me but the scuba guys are awesome. Whatever happens I hope they stay around after all this. Nice job Great work overall. This was a heck of a tourney. JV

thanks for the crits and comments, guys. i knew that i wouldn't be able to finish the story if i tried to ink this one, so i went with a more "finished" version of my usual pencils. the grey is from me lowering the brightness of the image to make sure that all of the lines would show through. the kiss was supposed to be a sad (as opposed to romantic) moment. gibson knows he's going to die, so he kisses her; because he kisses her, kirin knows he's not coming back. william d: the sentai who turned were corrupted by their own powers; certain types of personalities were more susceptible than others. the fact that they all began to turn around the same time could be attributed to ronin repulsa... i didn't think it was very important at the time, but it's definitely something that should have been touched on in the third round (though it would have probably changed the direction of the story). hiemie: this one is my favorite. i thought it was very sweet.

I enjoyed this finale , you both did a good job ending your story arcs. pretty close matchup in my eyes. Jet, you got a slight edge in entertainment, that she was telling the kids the tale all along was neat. The quality slacked a bit but the drawings were still strong. I feel like you have more good stories to tell surrounding this character. If you win you should fight more! Heime, I liked this alot and you've done a great job keeping up the quality, seems like you had a lot of fun making this and I had a lot of fun reading it. But, I don't see there being much else to the Baron story, so I want him to die. I've seen a lot of good improvements from both of you throughout the course of this tourney, thanks for a good read yall!

Both were very good in my opinion. Great work guys and I hope who ever wins uses their sentai character often because they are awesome.

Jet: Man, You did what a lot of people nag on Hiemie about doing, barely showing your opponent, and downplaying them a lot. While most of the pencils here are clean, that dark gray over everything... I don't get it, and I don't really like it much. Story wise, it was fine, I suppose. I like your previous battles MUCH MUCH better than this one. But you turned something in that was still enjoyable, even if it felt very unfinished. Hiemie: The colors look nice as usual, and after looking at this, and your last one, and a few others, I think I like your super heavy inks most of all, like what you used with Polar Pal. You should play with that some more. The story here wasn't much, but it was enough to enjoy reading it. I would like to see you switch up your angles a bit more. Most of your panels are just talking heads. A few dynamic panels here and there would look quite nice. good job both of you.

Jet: This was pretty disappointing. There is nothing about this comic that is better than any of your previous ones in this tourney. I don't know what was up with the flat gray either. Hiemie: this wasn't my favorite Baron comic but it was still interesting to read. Your art has been pretty consistent through all too, so good on that too.

Heimie, thanks for seeing this to the end, and Jet you're fucking aces in my book. I dont think its necessary to give critiques on a final match because the final match is in itself a challenge to even get done. Jet, your comic was strong. Your faces and pencils worked it to the end. The emotive track that ran with this piece was intense and was a moment unto itself. If there was a reason you'd win it'd be cause folks voted on a moment of passion. That doesnt mean to say that you gave this one a great ending though seeing her change love interest a few fights ago seemed campy when I read through it the second time. Overall I had the most fun reading through her story 3 times over. Heimie your fight put a great cap end on Baron's trials and tribulations. Not only that but you managed to stay strong with your style. Your colors are getting crazy controlled and expressive and your humor is tying in with your story more and more as a concept than just a cheap laugh. Leave it to you to submit something for the sentai tournament- but have little to do or feel like a sentai at all > AND MAKE IT AS A BOSS FIGHT LEVEL. Them turning evil was explained. Ronin Repulsa threw the seeds of evil out and turned them bad.

This was seriously epic. My day has been made. I have to laugh though since Kirin is yet again someone's love interest but it was certainly a nice twist in Hiemie's story and a nice solution to the whole "endless cycle of destruction" thing. Jetaime, your storytelling is great and definitely epic. It's very cinematic and stylish. It just seems that your pages could have used some cleaning in some places and I wonder why they are all grey? Also, while I think the story ends well, I don't feel like you actually resolved the story. You killed all the corrupted sentai but you never really said why they were like that? I guess it's not really important in the end but I was curious. The way the story wraps up is certainly impressive. Hiemie, this was another strong entry and it's great that your story has been developing some emotional pull since your last entry. I enjoyed the scene where the Baron shoots himself because it meshed well with the reality of what was going on. Although I wonder how Kirin has been surviving the dimensional resets if she's been searching for and following idiot across the multiverse?
