And thanks for the pennies kozispoon knowing that folks enjoyed my writing just puts a smile on my face after getting home drunk from a bowling alley : ) Thanks for reading, and this goes for everyone else as well.

Wow Squid ! thanks for that AND a lovely battle ! The way you thrashed me taught me a lot on style so you definitely deserve this win you do !

My belated two cents (and whoo- congrats Ben! I knew you could do it!) SQUID- I always love the unique style you give each battle and this was no exception. That Establishing shots was awesome-o. It really looks like you had fun working your backgrounds as well as your characters :) The light heatered take on Agent Blacks murderous ways was totally out of left field, but entirely enjoyable. Way to keep Ben's randomosity.....well, random! MONDAY- Ugh, am I the only one who reeeeally is finding ths side scrolly things in the battle comments annoying? Anyhoodle, Agent Black. I really wasn't sure how you were going to pull off a similar kind of mood fighting this character, but you made it seem so effortless. It all really clicked and integrated very well into your already established storyline. Its really cool to see no matter where Blacks story takes him, it all stays coherant. Black almost felt like a tolerant grandfather with Ben around- it was an amusing dynamic. Very much looking forward to seeing how much farther Black'll be getting. Very awesome job you two.

...the bright, full-color worked nicely for Ben, though..?

I would love to see Black and Ben back together. Best friends~ ^v^~! All of the styles look nice to me... in terms of color, I like page 7 panel 2 a lot(heh I just noticed the camera phone). The neon pink environment.. and of course I like the traditional inks on the first page ' 3' I feel like simple black and white is where your style wants to go; you always have a lot of heavy darks.. but you do great stuff with color, too, so I dunno. and I really do think traditional ink would work really well for you if you kept at that. I dunno, ink can have this rawness that I feel would compliment your writing, too. I'm thinking of that style that dude who drew V for Vendetta used, but with more line. You do nice stuff in digital, but it's a lot softer than inks. blah, I know nothing :I Thanks for the excellent battle.

Hm, guess I'll have to extend this to a beyond battle if Squid doesn't mind me using her character further. I'm also gonna have to go ahead and assume that this is canon even though I lost (yeah I hold on to this little tradition even though it tends to be self destructive). I'm sure there wont be storyline conflicts . Yeah this was a very ambitious piece so its gonna get the page coverage it deserves. The style was an experimentation, I was hoping to see which parts worked though. Way all over the radar perhaps ? I shall possibleygo back to tri tone. Thanks for the feed back everyone :D

[quote]I was a little confused about what was happening on the middle panels on page 6, was Black just like turning around? yep. That was a hard thing to show, maybe there was a clearer way I could have drawn it. Thanks Angie :3 Thanks again for all the comments. :3

Monday-I really wish you had made these separate comics since I really want to know all of Black's story, but I had a hard time figuring out what the two stories had to do with each other. Perhaps making them connect somewhere would have made them feel like a whole story? Like others have stated, I do wish that you would have mostly stuck with one style for consistency sake but it never hurts to experiment. You captured Ben's personality very well and I really enjoyed their interaction. I hope you have a Black BB planned for us in the future! Squidman-I thoroughly enjoyed your half and it was a joy to read. I had been curious about how Ben was going to interact with Black and was pleasantly surprised. I was a little confused about what was happening on the middle panels on page 6, was Black just like turning around? It just looked a little unnatural to me so I wasn't quite sure what was going on there. Other than that I had a blast reading this, keep it up dude!

Have you ever voted for the person whose comic you liked the least. Yeah, I just did. Monday: I don't mind the back and forth-ness of it all although I don't see how they go together. I liked the little bits of color you threw in, it was a nice detail. Squid: Ben is super cute. I have to admit it took me a few pages to realize it was Black that she made tag along with her. Dunno if it's my fault or yours. Entertainment wise (which is the most important rating to me) you blew Monday away but I gave him the edge on art quality and creativness and it made me give him a SLIGHT voting edge over you. Sorry.

Monday: When I read yours, I felt like I was reading two different comics that had been spliced together. Sure, I enjoyed each one, but it felt shoehorned in. Black's segway should've been a beyond battle, or utilized a more appropriate character. That said, Ben was entertaining and I really liked the dialogue between her and Black. Everyone else has pointed out art flaws, but I really just wanna say that you should pick one style for one comic. Change the style when there's a reason to. In this, you seemed to be experimenting. You can use differentiating styles to your advantage, but you aren't. Squid: I love your lineart! It's not completely rendered and perfect, but I like that about it. It's actually interesting and enjoyable to look at. I think a small, empty border around the focus of each panel or the characters would've helped in some panels, especially ones that included a lot of hatching or blacks. The lack of lineweight didn't bug me, since you did the same things with your hatching. I also thought you used white space well in this. I thought your comic was funny and fun to read, as usual. I think the small frames suited a comedy comic, though larger ones can be used for joke beats.

Monday: I noticed your style is changing a lot I notice. Along with the fluctuation of monotone to color. Sometimes it looks like you are just \"winging\" it. I don't have much else to say side from imploring you to watch the proportions of your eye placements and some of your boxy anatomy. It's not BAD really, but it needs to be improved. Style-wise or not. Good work though, I would've liked to have seen the entire comic on the orangey colors you use. Squidman: I love your battles more and more! Ben is such a great character and deserves more attention than what she gets already! Your expressions are wonderful and that is something that generally draws me into your comics. Perhaps in the future though incorporate some larger frames? Good luck to you both.

[quote]one part that was confusing for me was the random character that goes into \" blah blah blah im ugly and have no friends\" i had no idea what that was refrencing and it seemed even in this comic a little out of place.. That was Ben's roomate. Thanks very much for all the comments T vT About sloppiness, yeah, it wasn't that I rushed, I was just trying some things that I hadn't done before and some panels got away from me I think... I overworked them or whatever.

Monday, that was one of your better comics. I think you should have picked one style and stuck with it maybe. Squid that was almost perfect. You could have cleaned up a few parts more I think. But damnss.

hahahahahahaha squid that was funny as fuck, I love it, black came off as this quiet creepy adorable little jerk i love it. bben is awesome hey monday, i haven't seen your stuff in a while, good stuff by the way, how are you liking thems square panels? i actually also liked ben's appearance in your comic, even though it's very little, she was very cute.

monday: this was pretty sweet. im still growing to enjoy money more and more as time passes. was curious if youd still develope more story with Orange even though yosai's been M.I.A. this pairing of black and ben was cool tho.. i like the way you approached her look on life as an adventure. some of yur panel work was confusing for me.. it might just be the way i view things but some of the overly heavy black pages got a little confusing. wasnt sure where explosions were happening or just random jelly splats. Squid: im completely new to your character but this was a fun introduction for me.. i really like that she is the biggest little kid ever and has such a strong personality that she can get even Agent Black a.k.a. Dark to take part in failmart suction cup gun battles. was a good read.. id love to see more with this character.. one part that was confusing for me was the random character that goes into \" blah blah blah im ugly and have no friends\" i had no idea what that was refrencing and it seemed even in this comic a little out of place.. but it still made me laugh.. so GOOD effort peeps.. youve inspired me to hit up my line art more in the coming fights.

Apologies to Squid for the minimal use of ben, I have to admit that the 4 week deadline was there as a fall back to the uncertain amounts of time I was gonna get between travelling and school paperwork. Story had to be scrapped 3 times and in the end Ben's role become really minute in the end. I apologize for that , I thought I could do something senseless like I usually would but in the end I had to pursue that black was getting to a point of no return. I've no regrets here, save for the timeframe that was more or less abused in the end. And I thank Squid lots and lots for putting together this amazing one shot piece. This was probably one of the better more quaint interperetations of black that i've seen so far- and far better is the amazing dynamic with Ben that I expected of him! Phil: To answer plot hole problems, I wanted to design calendar hill like a crater filled beach, and the cape from which he stood on was formed from a series of similar explosions that occured before. You can deduce from the masks that they were ancient copies- and when he said-\" shooting anyone that didn't belong\" would mean anyone that wasn't a clone. It was probably clear at this point that fratri/patricide was the norm among them. Also, the seperate moments occured 3 weeks apart from each other which hinted a sort of relationship that developed between the two events. Calendar hill first , and the Ben Black dynamic second. This was really a risky move for me in terms of clarity and on all other points you are correct. Thanks for reading :U Zsa: Thanks for the enthusiasm, and apologies on clarity- im sure there were other ways to convey this. Im sure the pacing didn't allow for much breathing room for the pancakes scene. As for the style I was basically grasping straws , I know I should be aiming for consistency in comics but I just said fuck it and decided to experiment. Jong: It's not too late <: D. Oh you're busy with Badstar huh ?

Not bad in the least Monday: Eh... in all honesty this is a step back from what I've normally seen from you, I give you props for making a clearer story, but if it's still confusing and hard to understand. The art is OK, but it's still the same thing I've seen from you before, and I'm wondering also why you have to constantly change the coloring style from limited palette, to greyscale, to panels with some colors on key objects, and then to a mix of all 3 on one page. It has some good qualities, but it seems unnecessary, and it's too much of a distraction at times. Is the plant by that phone really so important that it needs colors? No... The backgrounds also could use some work, after the graveyard shot on page one, things just got messy. The shots in the present time just have no effort whatsoever aside from the occasional telephone pole and light shining on the characters, and by the time we get back to the graveyard it's all pillars and grass. We both know there's more to backgrounds than just that. The text this time looks a little better, but I'm still seeing those classic slip ups, mainly on page 1 Story wasn't that great for me, I did like the idea of Black not being a real amnesia sufferer and just a series of clones, but there's just too many plot holes. First, why those two guards at the entrance to the graveyard do nothing, where did they go when the masked Black was attacked and fighting? Wouldn't they of gunned down Agent Black when he first made his move against the clone? Why include them if they just do nothing but sit in a tree? And if Black actually did crash into Ben's car (which I had to look at for 5 minutes to figure out) why would she be calling him and hanging out with him? All the character development seems focused on just Black, Ben just seems like an afterthought to me in this story with hardly any impact on Black's character development aside from annoying him to the point of shooting her. Still though, despite me nit picking this comic does have it's strengths to it but I still feel that you could do better in this amount of time. SQUIDMAN: This is the comic I've been wanting to see from you since your first battle, lovely cross hatching here, although some panels like the store seems a bit too rushed in some areas and kinda came off as a bit sloppy. However I really enjoyed reading this comic and the visuals were nice and clean. The story was funny and I really like how Agent black was represented here despite having nothing to say whatsoever and having Robert hiding until she left was epic. Overall both were pretty good and strong comics, but Ben's comic is the definite winner here.

Amazing battle, the wait was paidoff. Maybe I should pay you. Monday: This is really cool Black's story is coming to develop really, I guess since Monty's battle. I wonder what kind of paths is he going to take. I like that you used different art styles, though it was quite unusual you'd use the colored style for the past, it doesnt matter anyway. Your comics are becoming easier to read, I guess. The pancakes thing was difficult to get at first time, but thanks to jong it was clever. Is he a vegan assassin now? hehe Squid: ; ; Epic tears! The art is top notch, and so is story telling, and the humor in this. I love the interpretation you did of Black, and also showing how the super happy Ben could get disappointed at not making him engage in something with her. This is easily your best comic, and one of best I've read in the site so far. No exagerations.

Noooo Monday what happens next?! CURSE YOU! I like how you drew Lauren :D

damnit monday stop making me want to battle you. i like your entry squidman, it was funny and an enjoyable read. i wanna battle you too

Awesome battle guys! :D @Monday: I like the colors and inks they are looking really nice! You were having a few issues with anatomy here and there though. It looks like your drawing legs a little too short and feet a little too small...like Rob Liefeld small.. :\\ and also be careful when your drawing eyes; on page 3 it looks like the character's eyes are facing different directions or maybe it's that one pupil looks smaller than the other..not sure. I also recommend trying to make your speech bubbles and writing just a wee bit neater; it can be hard to read sometimes. :) This was still a very nice comic from you though, pretty great stuff <3 @squidman: I really loved your story! Also I really think you stepped it up with the backgrounds, lovely details and such. I'm trying to think of something to critique you on right now...but I got nothing 0: I had no real problems with your battle sooo...nice job! hmmm...wel... I'd say vary your line widths maybe, to make the characters stand out a bit more from your backgrounds, but I'm not sure if that just a part of your style so...yeah D:

Monday: Your story was good, but it seems like it would have been better as two separate entries. The graveyard and the Ben story clashed, even though the contrast was understood. It felt a little choppy, but when you stuck two and two together it was enjoyable. Your art is wonderful and free and emits a pulp style. Very easy on the eyes. Squidman: I can get enough of your entry. It's just too funny. xD Ben is adorable and you even made Black funny, too. I wasn't expecting him to get into the game. Also, your attention to detail in most of your panels really made me smile. I like to see that. Probably because I fail at detail and backgrounds. Anywho, great story, very entertaining, and I want to see more. :3

Finally.

Pretty much when I have to manually upload pages, the pages I uploaded won't show up on the manger so Toast has to manually go in and put the battle up or the pages I uploaded aren't going to show up. So be patient guys, the battle IS coming, Toast is just busy

are you kidding, I didn't think I could get the pages done that I did o. o Don't ever put a battle off until the last 1 1/2 weeks. Although in my defense, I didn't mean to be lazy, I just couldn't decide on a story. durf.

Ditto on that waiting. They must have a billion pages apiece if its taking this long @_@
