vinca is freakin awsome

Deji, I'm not all that familiar with your work, and even though I'm not a big fan of the anime style, your comics have a certain charm to them. I wish it'd been finished but it was adorable as was. I don't really have any negatives, just keep on improving. Monday...this was a pretty shoddy performance from you. I mean I understand stuff came up, but plotwise this was probably the least legible comic you've done. The story was all over the place and it took a second read for me to even understand the basic plot of it. What happened to the whole teacher thing? I can see the story you were going for, and Goose's character really shined in the diner scene, but the first half was just nowhere near the kind of work you're capable of. Also your anatomy/proportions are still miles off, and it's starting to become more and more clear.

@Rabbit: Yeah, i'm alive, I was a bit sick during the weekend, but I suvived XD; I'll try to color my stuff next time DX; I'm happy my inks can stand alone without the coloring, so it doesn't look THAT unfinished XD;;

Neither battle really seemed to go anywhere, but i didn't think that was such a bad thing. XXO stories are supposed to be kind of existentialist, right? It's kind of what I was expecting, and I think Deji just tuned into that. Easily the coolest part of this was seeing each character rendered in the opponent artist's style. Monday and Dejichan are, like, completely opposite ends of the spectrum, I wondered how you guys would pull it off. It looks fantastic. :) Monday: Yeah, I think I like the traditionals better than the digital, but they both do different things. Have you considered maybe combining them? Inking traditionally, then coloring digitally? Or something? I kind of wish that second page had had the contrast adjusted though, the absolute blacks weren't as black as they could have been. Overall, I like how your neurotic artwork juxtaposes with the humorous story. It's very odd, in a cool way. Dejichan: As much as I miss your colors, I like how the inking is bold and bright enough to stand out on its own without them. The lines are clean, the expressions are cute, the objects are solid, and the motion feels real. I always feel like I'm watching an anime when I see your stuff. I just wish you could have finished. In other news, I had a dream last night that Dejichan suddenly died of a heart attack a la Wieringo. I feel stupid asking this, but are you still alive, Deji? ;_;

And you even managed to give Telly the scifi powerups >: D Your clean inks puts my digital efforts to shame and I am compelled to follow on Perca's insistence that I get back to doing trads again no matter what >: ) Anyways- I suppose I owe you an apology with school getting in the way with my battling more than I thought - despite getting an extension, I was only able to utilise a third of the time allotted to me. But I suppose we're on an even boat on that. Thank you very much for accepting the challenge - I am of the opinion that Perca has joined a certain rag tag comic club >: D

I like where Monday's style is going, but it seemed rushed and sloppy (but I understand you were running out of time?). Sometimes the text was hard to read, and the words were really getting squished into the bubbles.. it would have looked nicer if the bubbles were bigger, thereby giving more room. Squished bubbles are just distracting, even if it's possible to read what's inside them. It was difficult to follow the story. Everything jumped around a lot and it was hard to understand the time-frame. I did not grasp at first that the scenes with Vinca in the restaurant and the scenes with Goose battling monsters was happening at the same time; I thought it was a flashback within a flashback. Crazy. Some panels showing where the action was happening would have helped clarify. Liek, a panel that shows where Goose is fighting... especially in relation to where Vinca is. I would have liked explaination as to why he's fighting, too.. But I think I'm missing something from a previous story 'cause I have no idea what the deal was with all the zombies with pincers sticking out of their heads. Although I did like them. Whatever they were. I loved the parts with Vinca going all creepy-skull mode and threating sexual violence with a spoon; haha that was totally unexpected and awesome. Dejichan's pages were tight; lineart and layout were lovely. The style is cute and expressive. I liked where the story was going and I wish it had been wrapped up instead of just leaving me hanging like that. Entertaining comics both. :D

Both of them were awesome, but... DELICIOUS CAKE... takes... well.. the cake.... Deji - Your artwork is phenominal and your story was entertaining, but it being cut off like that made my heart sink. You did an awesome job and I tip my hat to you. You almost tied Monday in my voting, but I'm a sucker for funny food references. Monday: Loved the headless zombie crossing sign and the headless slaves being stuck on the windows like flys, that truly added an amusing element to the story. Can't wait to see more work from both of you.

hmmm, these are both great. I have always loved Dejichans art style, so there is no disappointment here, I just would have really liked to see how her side of the story ended. For monday, it took me a minute to get used to your style, but at the end I quite enjoyed it. I personally love vinca in the 3rd to last panel of page 7. That was great! This is going to be tough

I'm having a hard time with this, but I think monday takes it just for capping the story. If Dej had in fact finished then the tipper in mondays case would have been some cleaner transitions. Maybe it was the short time but Monday's pages sometimes seem to require going over twice to get everything, which is too bad because the humor is always killer. Maybe that's just me. Really the only thing I can vault Dej for is the close up or non backgrounds. There were so many speed line frames I thought I saw Vinca phase shift a few times towards the end there. Other than that, really good game to both.

Awesome! Deji: No major complaints here, it's a pity youdidn't finish it, but so far it's fairly ok! I wonder what would happen. Right now as it is, you inserted the orphanage for no reason, maybe you could left it out for the sequence, maybe? Monday: Where is the GARlock!? Haha it was awesome. I specially liked the scenes with Tod, he looks very amusing in every panel xD. I love when you use digitals, you have a very particular style with them...yet you could work on more detailed backgrounds, I suppose. Good luck you both :D

I enjoyed reading even tough I'm not feeling more guilty for killing HH after reading both sides *grins* j/k anyways: Deji: Your b/w are getting better and better, I loved. The panels are clean and I could understand all the pacing without having to re-read any page. Congratulations on that. Too bad you could not finish your half, as I also liked your story and can't wait to see the rest of it! Monday: You did all those by digitals? Or am I wrong? I liked the quality on that one and also this round looked cleaner and easier to understand than your last XXo fight, although I prefer when you use traditional due to more personality o the lines (like people care about my opinion). But let’s be fair, this one is easy and fun to read so I don’t have things to complain about.
