Beautifully done you two! I loved the drastic differences between these two characters and how you both made them work~
I want to leave a battle-wide comment for these two because I just love how beautifully these two comments mirrored their respective characters. One cartoonish and bizarre, the other contemplative and grandiose. One gets you with a one-two skateboard to the face, while the other annihilates you slowly over multiple landscapes and settings. Really impressive work from both of you! Loved the exaggerated expressions and dynamic poses of Giorgione's comic and the ever-encroaching void of Varaki's. I didn't know what to expect with this matchup, but y'all both delivered excellent comics and left me very well fed!!! Love the scars on both sides and I can't wait to see who wins!
Literally peam
Stregone is the goat
Going into this i was not sure what to expect of Giorgione, but the way you framed his goofy insanity between moments of melancholy really put perspective to the character in a very intriguing way. Great job, I would love to see more! I especially enjoyed the visuals on pages 6 to 8, you definitely went hard where it mattered most. The final scar is really cool looking as well, defeating varaki with a skateboard is funny stuff
Putting a guy with toon logic up against an existential threat is such an unexpected matchup but you make it work really well! I like the places where you use a screentone texture (like on pages 1 and 5) and I think you should try utilizing it more. It adds a lot of grit to your backgrounds. Speaking of backgrounds don’t forget to include some every now and then to ground the characters! Adding some different types of shots, like a wide shot that shows the characters’ full bodies, adds a lot of variety to your paneling and also helps establish the location the characters are standing in.
This comic is a good showing, keep up the work!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but even so I was somehow surprised by Skateboard To The Eye for Varaki lmaoooooo. You had very good use of spot blacks here, and I think this was a really clever way for Giogione to handle such a powerful foe! Also all of Giorgione's expressions are top notch lmao
God, what a fascinating matchup - the way that the juxtaposition between Gio's cartoonishness and Varaki being this eldritch inevitability is depicted via a change in detail and art style is super interesting here! The more detailed/horror-focused pages are just super interesting to see in general, too :D
Giorgione threw me for a loop, then tied that loop into a noose. What a great showing of his struggle against a mental/psychological threat. He could toon logic his way out of most situations, but a decent kickflip could change everything. Good job, Duding!
feels like a very "unstoppable force vs immovable object" kind of matchup! excited to see what happens!
