really great pair up, and chemistry here you guys!
rockman: your comic is one of the most polished in the round! the entry is present with both well balanced speech bubbles AND complete backgrounds. you do good characterization by developing psychic prince as a young man with a chip on his shoulder and daddy issues. personally, i feel your story is missing some of the campness both your and your opponent should be able to bring to the table with your silly characters. i'm not sure how you did it, but your non-sequitur train-crash of an ending doesn't feel mis-timed or incomplete. maybe it was the bait and switch, showing how Psychic prince WOULD kill the Kind of Friends if he wasn't caught off-guard. I don't know, but you have an innate power I should study.
Kent: I'm so happy You were able to Make This Tournament with Psychic Prince! I've never seen him do live comics and it's nice to see his abs i mean see how you've applied your fresher knowledge to an older character. I would have deadass not noticed the lack of backgrounds if you hadn't made Psychic Prince say "uh, trust me." I bark-laughed like Pee-Wee Herman at this. and as is tradition, comics that pry legitimate laughs from the audience are worth their weight in bit-coin. your drawings are all so good and you were clearly just here to have fun and this comic is pure fun, so I don't have anything negative to say, sorry 😩
Rockman: this is a solid entry and gives us a good sample of what to expect going forward. You've established a clear narrative thread to follow, which is nice, and the kill was creative and unexpected. I can't wait to see what other ways these lil guys can eliminate the competition! I certainly have some new ideas in the event we get matched up later. If I had any criticism, it would be to watch your values. At no point is anything indistinguishable, but there are definitely points where the values of certain elements start to get similar. Page 3 panel 2 is the strongest example of this, where the tone for the door, psychic princes hair, and the vignette all start to blend together a bit. Again, it never creates an issue with the readability and it's a bit of a nitpick but that's really all I got for critical feedback
Kent: the visuals are clean and the humor lands well. I keep coming back to The "aw fuck" panel. Leaves you Wondering if the king actually sent Brutus or if he's just inclined to kill royalty, but also doesn't really necessitate an answer. Like bobert said, my only issue is the lack of backgrounds, which you do make a quip about in the comic. I do think even some sort of indicator of background at some point would remedy this, like adding some background to that title page, some gray lineart to push it back from the main elements while still serving as an establishing shot. I do get it, though. Castle interiors are a LOT to draw, especially on a deadline
Therockman: ...Oh frak, that's actually scary. But also cute. In a scary way.
Mr Kent: Happy to see Psychic Prince again! He tried to be the good lad. It never last long.
These were both fun and short.
Rock: This was goofy and neat and I like how cute you drew Psychic Prince. A real shame he was NOT A FRIEND.
Monsieur Kent: This was a nice comic all around and the only thing I could give as a critique is that it could have benefited from a bit more backgrounds, which I can only assume you omitted due to the deadline, because otherwise this had very good lineart.
Rockman - The King of Friends is so cute and yet that ending was so eerie. I loved it! I love seeing all of the different friends too. I hope to be deemed a friend in the King of Friends presence. The alternative does not look fun.
Kent - Psychic Prince is a really fun character and your lineart is really nice too. I liked his initial meeting with Brutus and it's a shame Brutus had to be the one to strike first because it was hard to see poor King of Friends kick the bucket.
ROCKMAN- This was such a good intro for King of Friends! Love the way both interacted. The prince's demise was absolutely brutal and hilarious!! Those extras on the friends are so endearing!
KENT- It was fun, short and sweet! I liked that his initial reaction to his opponent was a positive one. The last page is adorably sad
Coming back around to these.
Kent- I really enjoyed the brutus joke. It was silly and got a giggle out of me.
Rockman- I didn't if you were unworthy you get vaporized! The friends are giving me old cheesy horror movie vibes! Also parasite friend is pretty tops
