omgggg I LOVE how encouraging Croi is in both of these for her to do ballet again!
Batty, GREAT premise! I would watch this game show lol! A little tragedy and drama and some really gorgeous colours!
JCEE your art is STUPENDOUS as always, you have mastered spot blacks in a way i could only dream of! That second page of Croi in the apron looking SO AT HOME was a delight! Hope her many dates help her succeed at least if NOT in finding romantic love, at least in reminding her love for her craft~
BattyCroi bby 🥺
I like the cute premise, which is a perfect usage of Jozzik! The colors were pretty, and I liked the vibe of this quet, calm setting where characters can just be themselves and have a chill time for a moment. Croi being a fan of Swan's ballet is so wholesome, and the reveal about why he had to quit is heartbreaking. I look forward to getting to know him more in future rounds!JCeeYour comics are always so nice 🙌
I love the way you drew Croi; that sash is EVERYTHING. Finding shared interests that create meaningful character dialogue was such a great approach. You nailed the vibe of speed dating while also making us feel what these characters are about and how they connect.
PS I HOPE WE GET MORE BALLET SWAN SOON >:O
Batty- I've always been a fan of your writing, the premise was set up in such a neat entertaining way & the date that followed was equally fun. I second Minteh, you're dialogue flows so nicely and sounds really natural.
Art wise this was lovely and colourful, congrats on finishing 4 highly polished pages in a week.
Jcee - Your art is stunning as always! I loved how the layouts became more playful when Croi and Swan talked about their passions, it really emphasised those moments. Much like Batty's the dialogue was really natural and engaging to read, after finishing this I found myself warming to Swan even more. (And I liked her an awful lot to begin with!) I hope she does take to the stage again!
I love when battles are so different while still being so similar, the themes that you both included are true to the characters, and I really felt like both comics showed great understanding of this pair! They were a joy to read.
Heavenbat: I think this is the first time I've seen one of your comics, I really enjoyed the story beats and getting to know more about Croi! The speed dating game show aspect is really cute, and you didn't spend too much time on the setup so we got lots of juicy character driven moments. It's hard not to feel for Croi, encouraging someone to pick something back up that they love when he can't. I really wanted to shout out the dialogue for sounding so natural, I really enjoyed it!
JCee: It feels like we're seeing Pascaline healing in real time, not that she hasn't had her 'soft moments' in recent comics, but it feels fresh to see her more relaxed and talking about ballet, even if it's just for a moment and she's not quite ready to divulge/get back to it. That second page with Croi was so precious, and in general the framing on pages 2 and 3 to give them room for showing off their passions was a really fun arrangement!
Wow, these were both so good? The colors in Batty's were so nice and saturated and magical. I love that you're making this a game show as well, very cute idea. Jcee, this was also really excellent, I love your black and white work. The second page is just the best lol
Both sides did amazingly well and touched on a couple of things that Croi and Swan happened to have in common. Cooking and Dancing! What a good match up. Who knew they'll be so compatible. <3
Amazing job both of you!
