I missed a lot of late year comics and am getting round to reading the nominations, and holy shit. Visually this was stellar, the amount of work on that second page is astounding. Really looks like an old video game, and I love how Rina and Rascal are still pixelated in Void too. I do agree with Flytee though in that I don’t feel much attachment to the characters despite their cool gimmick. I hope you can continue the hype with them now that they’re out of their 8-bit world.

This is possibly the best intro I ever seen on the site. I got completely bamboozled by the turn.

Extremely impressive visuals ...page 2 in particular is staggeringly good, I would totally buy that being a clip from the next popular indie game. It's so convincing! Even when the more unique game setting is dropped for something more conventional, you keep the quality so high it wasn't disappointing at all The word cinematic comes to mind for some of those location shots. I can't fault your creativity and quality, 10/10. I'm blown away. Visuals aside, Rascel and Rina are cute & I think they fit the standard retro-game protag mould very well (I'm guessing this was the goal) (cheeky ramble) [spoiler]Honestly, I almost gave you straight 10s because I'm so enamored with this comic- but I ended up settling on a 9 for entertainment, aka I read this multiple times and even sent it to none voiders etc- but I didn't have that strong emotional attachment & investment to the characters & events, which excels stories to a 10. currently, it feels like the concept around them is more intriguing than the characters themselves. This is completely understandable for an intro (my standard are probably unreasonable lol), especially one that needs to do a lot and set up a big mystery. I'd be curious to see how they cope with their new reality in future comics. [/spoiler] This was fantastic! Congrats Jackster :D

Wtfff!? This is amazing on so many levels. So much talent!!!!!! I was already blown away by the pixel stuff, but my jaw dropped with those last two pages. Seriously, stellar work.

This was so good. The beginning had me wanting to reach for a snes controller. Chefs kiss on that transition from 16 bit to void city. The nice reveal. I'm craving more

Dang man, I think you just won Void in the month of December and a few end of the year awards with this XD. But in all seriousness, this one was really well crafted and the cuties of these characters are just off the charts. Now I wonder who will be the first to fight this pair and how will they fair in their time in Void City. You did amazing and you should really be proud of yourself.

very cool, man. The first page /chapter was full of so many neat character designs. The dragons the protags defeat were so cute. I of course like dragons MORE than lions, though. so you can imagine my delight when you turned the story on its head in the next chapter. would really like to know what happened to everyone, now! then, the art style change to show Rascal is not in his home dimension any more : wow! very polished looking. it's not often a character's backstory includes a dimensional riff into the enter void. I can't wait to see who they battle, first! there are other vidya characters and other cartoony animals: so many options!

Jackster this is absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I was entirely hooked, the level of animation and love put into the first two sequences is something that blasted me back years- im in awe!! And when it came down to getting thrown into Void City, the amount of detail put into the comic style and differentiating the two art forms of pixel and traditional digital art came out beautiful on both ends, this was sucha treat!! ( also that Pyras cameo is fucking killing me omgg )

This might be the best comic i've read (and watched) the entire year! I even forgot it was a void comic and not a game while reading the first page. You really outdid yourself with this intro Jackster! Now i can't wait to see more of these two.
