Kubo - Thanks for putting up with me and trusting me to ink your sketches while giving me the freedom to merge our styles together. It was great working with you. Footini - A playlist is a good idea actually. Due to our busy schedules we unfortunately cant put out as much comic as fast as we can to move along the "Where is Rocio" story. But with Kubo and Raven now crossing paths (though neither of them knowing that they are BOTH looking for Rocio at this time), this could lead to a more cohesive plot that would culminate to all of us finding out what happened to everyone's favorite hammer wielding cleric. There are a few things that need to happen first though so it might take a bit but rest assured, this story is not forgotten, Raven wouldn't rest until she finds Rocio lol [quote] I like how Kubo's style especially with expressions and compositions still show through I actually said the same thing to kubo while working on this comic. When I proposed the story outline of this comic to kubo last year, Raven was actually opening a portal to go back home. The setting wasn't even in Titan Island and I had this image of them fighting in some Indiana Jones style temple instead or something in the middle of the woods lol. But with Arma happening and Rocio missing, I couldn't justify Raven wanting to go home in my head. Kubo filled out all these missing pieces - the setting, Hell Spear, the demons and monsters designs, connecting the story with Post Arma, etc It's just wonderful to think back on how the script came to be to what it is now. This is one of the many reasons I love collabing. I am weak on certain aspects of comicking and collab partners really let you see outside the box and introduce ideas you would never conceive on your own. Same deal happened with Pyras numerous times I worked with him and the ladies at VCV, etc [quote]Always love me some Easter eggs! I am so happy when people spot Easter Eggs in comics haha (I do wonder if you found them all ). I love putting them in whenever I get the chance. There is also one Easter Egg that did not make it cos it got covered by a speech bubble (forgot to tell kubo to move them oops) Also I just want to say, I hope this cameo finally made sense. It was a hint to this Kubo and Raven comic (though admittedly Cynthia cameo here was actually a nod to an RP I had with Footini featuring Ran, Cynthia and Triceracop - who were all cameoed in Popular Monster but it's even better now since she is also in Only The Good Die Young). I just love it when things come full circle. AAAH apologies for my rambling again. There was a bit of a mix up with the page sizes in the beginning which massed with the font. It’s a challenge I always seem to have, sorry 😭

FrankenToon: To catch everyone up, I mostly remembered Ravens correlation to demons with Rocio because they had actually previously mentioned her in a past comic while Raven was questioning them. Its mostly why she went on that rampage against them in the VCV comic, yknow besides the blood thing.

I read Raven’s archive before commenting and Raven actually mentions the connection before the demon does! Hence my confusion. From page 6 of VCV: Raven: Wait, did you say demons? Where is Rocio? Did they finally get to her? Demon: If only... oh to be a fly on the wall when they do... to be the lucky demon that- Raven: ENOUGH! Tell me where Rocio is or perish. The demon responds to her mention of Rocio, he doesn’t bring her up in the first place. But Rivana said this would be explained in part 2 so we’ll just have to wait and see ;v;b

I had to wait for a bit to come up with a proper comment- this whole comic was absolutely gorgeous! I loved the character interactions, the poses and the rendering was insane!! The hints and nods to past comics were so nice to spot! Always love me some Easter eggs! I'm looking forward to more of their shenanigans! The interaction between Amber and Kubo at the start was so precious, the transitions between places felt well-paced, and there isn't a bit in which the characters felt stiff or static. And...that little sandbox hint....the tease...... Btw the cover art is g o r g e o u s!!

The Art is top notch and the characters look amazing glad to see Raven being busy and I can't wait to more of these two in the near future

Miller keeps that cover art as his phone lock screen. So first, yea. The art is killer. Excellent rendering and colors and I like how Kubo's style especially with expressions and compositions still show through. Story is real simple, just a fight with some pieces to move the plot along. Granted it was Franken's comment that reminded me that most of what Raven is doing is *probably* for Rocio I think. At first I thought Raven was trying to make portals to get home. Though since the whole Rocio plot point happened like, what, two years ago real time now and neither of these characters were directly tied to that event so checking the archive on that is kind of hard I figure this could have benefitted with a quick recap page at the start. Is there a playlist with this storyline cause since it's starting to involve so many people now that would be useful to help follow this. Also Thank yall for the cameo both of them! I was really surprised anyone still remembers Cynthia. p.s. You need help with dimensional portals? I might know a wizard for that. :footini emoji:

Hi Cy! I actually have answers for all that and we plan on addressing them in part 2 so everyone is clear on it as well.

Like everyone else mentioned, Raven's motive is still super unclear and I'm hoping to see what comes out of her story here. Kubo is solid as always and it'll be good to see more of him too. I'm sorry for sounding like a broken record but the coloring and lines are looking great, and I'm glad to see the action being way more dynamic this time around. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next, both on Kubo's part and Raven's part. Hopefully part 2 will clear things up and we'll get to see more of where this story goes!

First of all, thanks a million for the comments , votes and crits so far! They are all noted and appreciated. Anyhow, thought I'd quickly pop my head in here since there's one topic that's been a common question so far lol Why is Raven opening a portal to Hell? kubo and I were torn between revealing it or just letting it linger honestly. There was actually a plan to show this to the reader initially. But we decided the latter and just reveal it later. But it's not really a secret what it is and we're okay with both keeping it a mystery - akin to putting the reader in Kubo's shoes to see Raven as the bad guy here esp since the comic is told from Kubo's POV (I am actually glad Raven came across here as a villain, Shen! I want Kubo to think the same) - or the reader being able to figure it out. In fact, one of you already did :) TLDR- yes , we're okay with making Raven look like a complete baddie in the story and keeping her reasons vague. It's also possible for readers to connect the dots on what's motivating her to do this. We're just leaving it to the audience to draw their own conclusions based on what was revealed in this chapter. I'll elaborate more later maybe but thought I address that bit real quick :)

Firstly you gonna draw a cover like that and expect me NOT to come out shipping it? DITCH THE MILLERS, DATE EACH OTHER Anyway obviously the art on this is GORGEOUS. The fight scenes are amazing, I don't even know what I would crit. Fantastic action and colours. I don't understand Raven's motivation, though. After everything thats happened in Void, why would she want to open ANOTHER Hell portal? Did Gray teach you people nothing??? XD even if you want to keep her intentions mysterious, i think we would have appreciated some kind of hint that this IS all part of some larger plan, because she comes out here looking like a villain. That aside, you guys did amazing work!

This was such a lovely comic, you guys work really well together! The action scene was really well done, and the colors make the comic look beautiful, I'm excited to see more about what's happening!

The fight scene here was incredibly fun! Really loved the scenes where Raven and Kubo fell through space when the portals activated, and the demon being speared with its own middle finger holy shit XD Lovely sunset palette, especially on pages 4 and 5, all the shots of the sky and clouds were really good in general. RAD giant demon hand, look at those knuckles and tendons! However, I think the interior backgrounds need a bit more work; there’s clearly a tonne of care put into the characters or important background objects while the space behind them is quite bare. You can see this especially on page 14. Panel 2, Miller’s face is fully rendered with highlights and shadows, but the bookcase behind him is a flat shape, and panel 4 the piano looks lovely while the wall and floor are devoid of any scratches, adornments, or shadows. Also I know this is a part 1, but I wish I had some idea of Raven’s motivation. I’m pretty confused as to why she’d want to open a portal to hell? But hopefully this will be revealed in part 2. Interested to see where this leads and what powers Kubo’s new demon mask might have.

Oh this was an absolute delight!! The way everythings falling into place for every character has me so damn giddy- from Raven's madchase to find Rocio, to Millers inevitable encounter with Raven. I also love the glow-up in Kubos usage in abilities and how they pair with Luz! Of course, all characters were handled stunningly as per usual, but so many scenery shots were also incredibly remarkable! My jaw dropped at the panel of the boat sailing out onto the waters, you two work wonderfully together!! I honestly have no critz, I just wanted to gush :>
