TheCydork: this is a battle, just not a Void one. Ok, but I’m evaluating this comic for what it is here, and here, it’s a beyond battle.

Heathen: This can maybe be forgiven in a battle, but when you’re doing a beyond battle, why not take the time to expand on the story and release a longer comic that has some actual conflict, drama, and stakes. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this scene, but when presented on its own, it doesn’t serve to move the characters anywhere. Tyidid is $25.08 richer, Jasper has no lead on the person he’s looking for, and someone uses the restroom. Uh Heathen.... this is a battle, just not a Void one. It says it right there in the title - this is for an OCT called Azlantec - and Cro's uploaded it to Void. I agree that the meat of the story could've done with a bit more, but the comic is very clearly supposed to be a joke from my perspective? 'Cos as soon as purple guy walks past the toilet, the other girl with blue feathers comes out. Seemingly the one he was looking for, since he recognised her gem (or rather, what he thought was her gem) at Tyidid's stall. They just miss each other, that's the point that I got. Onto the comment for this comic itself! Cro, the first thing I noticed was definitely the colours - this bluey green palette helps cement that this place is in a bubble under the sea, so good job with the atmosphere! It happens to go nicely with the purples and blues of the character's palettes as well. The characters felt more fluid and natural in this comic too, especially orange/blue girl's wings and purple guy's movements. I think your panelling has to catch up to your writing though. I can understand why Heathen felt nothing happened, because a lot of key moments weren't really emphasised. For instance, on the first read I missed Tyidid holding the bucket of paint behind his back. Maybe it's because I read this on my phone and everything's smaller, but zooming in on the bucket or lightening it so it contrasts against Tyidid's back more wouldn't hurt either. Also if I got the point of the comic completely wrong, sorry u-u

I love the sneakyness of Thydid and the misunderstanding of the feathers.

I would have liked a bit more context as to why Tyidid is the only vendor operating out of this abandoned market. I like the idea of the place, and you did a good job with the backgrounds here, but it does feel a little bit like you just wrote in an excuse to not draw background characters. My main issue with this comic though, is that nothing really happens. I like the character interactions and the sense of location and atmosphere, but none of the characters have had their stories progressed in any meaningful way by the end of this scene. This can maybe be forgiven in a battle, but when you’re doing a beyond battle, why not take the time to expand on the story and release a longer comic that has some actual conflict, drama, and stakes. There’s nothing inherently wrong with this scene, but when presented on its own, it doesn’t serve to move the characters anywhere. Tyidid is $25.08 richer, Jasper has no lead on the person he’s looking for, and someone uses the restroom. I do like what you’re going for with the colors here, there’s some nice dimension to things, so keep pushing that. You should experiment with a different font for your lettering, though.
