4:00 am: i feel like this is the art style that won Pedro's student council election.

Brabbit: You really have been true to the theme of "Escalation" in your writing. The next battle truly will be an apocalyptic one! It's interesting how Maw has become so thoughtful, even resigned compared to before. Your limited palette also suits the battle between light and dark very well. This story was barely about your opponent's character, though. 4:00: This has been White Blade's "thing" but I got lost in all that lineart (very cool, but very busy, too), especially since Maw's introduction doesn't really frame him well enough for me to notice him the first time reading through it. They fight, she wins... I feel like it's missing something.

Brabbit- these kinda minimalist gray backgrounds are beautiful and add nice dreary atmosphere 4:00am -I like the detail you give the characters and backgrounds. Even without dialogue your comic is entertaining.

brabbit: that last page is so fucking good, some of my favorite bit of work from you, these slightly abstract value environments work great for your style. Like that last page is like some concept art from a game, please do more stuff like that in the future and in general I think you should work on making your environments like that. You should try applying these simplified values to your figures. It can be hard to tell who they are (White Blade being the biggest example), when it's just rough lines and mostly one value. Storywise, I like what you're doing with Maw making him have humanity and said humanity making him an even more dangerous threat. Great job with this comic. 4 AM: I love your inks and all the details are really cool. You should take some time to relook at proportions and study them again. It was mostly in the creatures but sometimes your human characters' heads can be too big and look like they're missing a neck, so take some time to carefully study that area. also when low on time you should try to quickly rush in some digital word bubbles, I would say get them in before your inks so you can also plan your inks around where the bubbles would be. I do love the traditional stuff and hope to see more of it.

Good work all around you too even if they weren't finished and polished! Both comics were lacking in shading and color. Two weeks isn't very long to finish a comic especially when your comic is too detailed or too long. Brabbit - You sure do a large quantity of pages but maybe too large. Unsure as to the long haired book readers involvement in this story so he seems rather unneeded. Really enjoy the direction Maw has come. Good luck! 4:00am - All the details you have incorporated in this are amazing but the foreground and characters seem underwhelming. Great work none the less and I hope to see more from you in the future!

Brabbit - Wow, this was honestly great. Really enjoyed this! Your use of values to suggest environments without actually lining them is fantastic, and makes the lined characters very easily readable against the backgrounds. Particularly liked the final page. I really like Maw’s dialogue - the formal way he speaks really gives him an oldy-worldy vibe. Also loved the method of death! When I realised it was a black hole kind of deal on page 19, oh man, that was cool. My only gripe would be the sketchy pages. Like Inky said, they were very readable and bless you for prioritising speech bubbles too, but the White Blade feels barely recognisable with how sketchy you draw her. Maybe she could have benefitted from further simplification? Most of the time I can just make out a humanoid shape covered in haphazard lines and without even a mouth, only the hair and horns identifying her. 4am - I tried to be kind in my last crit but, come on dude. The completed backgrounds are very nice, and Maw looks good too (though as Cab pointed out, where’s the scar?), but it really feels like you didn’t care about this round, and that you’re intentionally treating Avie as poorly as you can. Firstly, why is she suddenly okay doing the White Blade’s bidding, and mauling people with even a smile on her face? And she just looks deformed, like she was inked straight away, with no sketch or any preparation in almost every panel. Like page 2, bottom panel. Her head looks like it’s peeking out from beyond the panel, facing a different direction and completely detached from the rest of her body, while the tail... just, what’s going on here? On page 3 her mouth is like a separate entity to the rest of the face, the fire isn’t even coming out of it, she still has no neck at all and an oversized head. The body too, contorts strangely, frequently changes length and often appears to have broken limbs/digits. If you can put all this effort into backgrounds and your own character’s complex armour, surely you can practice drawing Avie or simply reference tigers, and actually read the previous round so you can do your opponents some justice.

Brabbit: This is a very nice and emotional hitting comic to me. The story this is taking is strong and I am glad you are making it into the finals. I am really looking forward to your conclusion. Artwise i wish this were a little more poslished but nonetheless it was a good balance met with that deadline. My favourite panel is i think from page 12 the second. It just hits me with the aesthetics i like. but thats just me loving curves I guess :D 4:00am: You didnt default. Which is good but it wouldn´t it have been probably better to just do one page burning Maw down but with proper art? How is it important to do 5 pages without any story aside from WhiteBlade riding through ruins and then roasting the Dragon. I hope you get to manage your time and/or priorities better with future projects :)

I don't have a lot of time, and I've got a wounded finger so I'm going to have to keep this short and sweet. Brabbit: So cute! I'm a sucker for the ethereal dragon types, so I love Maw. I like how you played into the light vs dark with a hint of spin for what I know will be your next round in Escalations. Excited to see where it goes. Even for sketch pages, the story was still clear and concise, and I was able to follow without issue. Only thing I'd like to see is a little more detail or design in Maw's transformation. Looking forward to your next one! 4am: Bro, c'mon. You gave us your all against Deji. What happened? Video games or lack of interest for your fellow artists? I was expecting more from you. :/

Good job Brabbit, I am eager to see what the conclusion to your dragon boy's story is, its building to a nice conclusion and I will be sadden if Maw gets annihilated, good luck. 4:00am -- I'm not gonna beat around the bush, this entry wasn't good especially after such a strong round 1 you had. I know you stated that you had spent too much time playing video games during R2, but I thought you have rebounded on R3, try to prove the naysayers wrong that now in the semi-finals you were gonna bring your A- game, but sadly its not all that better than your lackluster R2, No text, so I still don't have a good grasp of your OC's personality, the art was complex in some panels are down right sloppy and half-assed in others. I also noticed you pretty much kept Maw with his R2 look, not even adding the scar damage I gave him in the conclusion of the round, making me question if you even read the previous entries or did the proper research. I have respect for you as a comic artist, it takes skill and talent to do what we do, and I wanted to see more from you, hopefully down the line we can see you at full force once more.
