This comic is obviously a setup for further stories rather than being a story in and of itself, so it's a bit hard to judge its entertainment value when taken alone. But I love the implications this sets up, as well as the potential both for what might happen to Kubo as a direct result of Arma and what this mysterious other person might bring to the table to complicate his life. I can't wait to read more!

This was a really interesting read, and I want to know more about this person and her relationship with Kubo! I agree with heathen that I thought the collar jumped from Void to her. I have a feeling I might know who this is supposed to be, but I'm excited to see the follow up!

Now that you’ve clarified that she WAS in fact wearing a collar that activated, I really wish you’d just clearly shown the collar on page 1. It would have been clearer, and I actually think it would have made us instantly more interested in this character. We know what those collars do, so seeing one on someone we’ve never met before would establish that connection and make us go, “woah, ok, who’s this? She’s got a suppression collar like Kubo. I’m intrigued”. Instead, we don’t know why we’re supposed to be interested in the character until a bolt of lighting seemingly comes from the sky and we see she has a collar on. I, too, thought the collar was Kubo’s and had somehow jumped to a new person. When I flipped back to page 1 to see if she had the collar, I didn’t understand that it was intentionally hidden; it actually looks like she isn’t supposed to be wearing it and you just didn’t show her neck clearly enough.

Edit: Also, looking at it again, I realize why I was so confused; panel 2 on page 2 actually does clearly show her neck, and she very clearly isn’t wearing a collar. We can see all the way from the underside of her jaw to her collarbone.

Kozispoon: I went into this super excite for more Arma extras and tidbits. Is this an Avengers style post credits scene? A thing of things to come??

Upon opening the first page I am...perplexed.

Who is this person? Why're they gardening? Why're they out in the middle of nowhere? Why're they bestowed a suped up Kubo style dampening collar? How do they know Kubo? Are they friends? Foes? Who burns down their cabin? you couldn't of sub-let that thing, damn @W@

Nooooooooooo! The layer with location header on the first page was turned off when I saved an I completely missed that!!! Ugh. It was suppose to say "The Ozarks."And yes, this is suppose to open up a lot of questions, however many of the answers can be found if you look hard enough ;) Don't worry, they will be addressed.

I will also agree that I think a bit more establishing dialogue about the collar since I thought it appeared only when Kubo broke his off. However I do love the bit of story we get of her just burning the place as she goes. it shows a lot about her character without giving dialogue directly talking about it and interests me. Also the art is good as always and interested to see how this goes along.

As usual the art quality is good, I feel a little lower than usual but that’s understandable given the fact that you just did Arma! I think more of a hook was needed though. In my opinion, it’s not enough to just show something that’s unknown to get people interested, especially with such a short comic. Seeing the collar and the fact that this was posted under Kubo’s name, I immediately know this character is linked to Kubo and the mystery of her appearance evaporates. I would’ve liked more hints of her link to Kubo either through her exasperated comments or in environmental details around the house, so I can start speculating about the mystery of WHAT kind of tie she has to Kubo. As it is now she’s just a person I don’t know, who’s had very little room to hook me in, so I’m not interested. If this character was linked to the end of a Kubo comic it would probably have peaked my interest more, but as a stand-alone she isn’t strong enough. I’m sorry if this sounds vague, I’m having trouble explaining it myself so I hope this makes some kind of sense?

Heathen: I would’ve liked a little more clarity on the collar appearing on her neck, like maybe going a little more out of your way to clearly show her bare neck prior to the light show. I kind of had to glance back at the previous panels to see if she had a collar on that just activated or if the collar itself appeared on her neck. Her nonchalant reaction to it is fine, but maybe just a little less ambiguity in the phrasing of her line. It’s hard to walk that line between giving the reader just enough and having your dialog be stilted. Maybe I’m just old and dumb.

Other than that minor hitch, this comic is a great example of show-don’t-tell. You did a great job establishing the idyllic homestead in just a few panels, so we understand exactly what’s happening when she sets it all ablaze.

Kubo’s got some ‘splaining to do.

Thanks Heathen, I was hoping that her dialogue would be enough to imply that she has always had the collar and that the flair in power was something that hadn't happened in a while. I hid her neck in the previous panels for the reveal and so I see how the flash of light might look like it was magically appearing on her neck. Thanks again on the feedback.

Ok, color me interested! Who is this person? How is she affected by Arma? Is this the start of a new character in Void or one of Kubo's growing ensemble of allies?

I can't wait to see more!!!

I cannot believe you're able to do another comic so soon after Arma. And top notch quality at that. I am looking forward to seeing what the role this character is going to play in Kubo's life. The more I read about Kubo, the more invested I get in his story. Can't wait to see more!
