I've fallen behind on my comics, so I'm just going to leave super brief responses to these.

@fluff: This is a cute comic; Sidae's family photo is adorable af and it's fun to see such a chill story about two people connecting over something really simple. The backgrounds could have used some fleshing out though, and the perspective got wonky, especially with that shot that shows the underside of the table.

@Diz: The storytelling was a bit stiff (pun maybe intended?); you put these characters in a situation that works, but had no real build up behind it so it lacked emotional depth. I thought the neon colors were fun, especially with how the change from neon to standard coloring showed the shift in mood. Honestly, I want to see more of what Lacy's like when she's not stripping or otherwise in sexual scenarios, as much fun as those things are. My impression of her so far is just that she likes sex/expressing her sexuality, and I know there's more to her than just that one thing.

I had fun reading both of these, and hopefully I'll get there in time for more in-depth critiques next time around!

I had a lot of fun with this and I want to thank Diz for going against me! I wanna do more stuff with all the spiders!
I really enjoyed their side with the sort of black light going on and how Sidae looks in their style!

Thank you for all the input. It’s clear who the winner is here. I was trying to make some big interesting artistic decisions. Sometimes you swing and you miss. If I could do anything differently it would be to give Sidae and Lacy some actual color instead of just making them neon outlines. But hey, you miss a hundred percent of the shots you don’t take, right?

fluff! loved your part. easy setup but got all the highs and lows of a story. with a better planned background art and perspective this would have been lots better. but still a great comic ending on a wholesome note.

diz! tbh i can´t really relate to the story. sure they are attracted to each other but going from the scene straight to a murder attempt is... wierd. artwise i am not a big fan of those thick bold lines. also maybe try to draw out the camera more. the close ups work great but in doses.

Fluff - Really loved your comic and I see a lot of improvements in your anatomy here. Keep up the good work.

Diz- Hmm yeah I am not sure what's really happening here for the most part. But yeah I will echo what Kozi said about focusing on polishing your comic a bit more.

DIZ- Two comics up for voting and crits. :o While I commend the work ethic, I think your eagerness to keep the party going is costing your quality. These pages don't have the same level of polish as your intro and there was some legibility issues with what was going on in the black light sequence as has been said.

FLUFF- Wow, what a jump in quality! :o I love the shading texture used for this battle. The near sepia tones is something I personally enjoy. I also dig the stylization of your opponents character to better fit into your style. I get  you're trying to portray Sidae's abject poverty with how little he has in his room, but even hard times have personality. I'd recommend giving Radji's comics a looksee where he protrays parts of the Old Docks. Fantastic inspo for what you can do with a place that's rundown and greasy.

I like the nod to your last battle with Sidae's callback to Louise and a bit of spider behavior in which the male would be afraid of a female spider. They tend to EAT folks like you, bruh! lol

Fluff: This was a cute interaction i really like how he is still dealing with the trauma, i also like the inking style of this comic. though both areas feel a bit empty, rather than trying to make small details like posters that take time to think about try adding a lot more stuff quickly. the more things you have in the background the less you have to worry about the individual details so long as thye all follow perspective and help define the characters, i feel like both are a bit too bare.

Diz: I had trouble making out what was going on with just the colored lines and the fact it as all so close up. if you wanted to show it being dramatic lighting on black then you should have colored out shapes of the forms rather than just the outlines, so parts of the body closer to the light would be getting more light and parts away wouldn't be getting as much light, try doing some lighting practice from reference with dramatic lighting. But it's good to experiment and good job with this comic.

Fluff: Oh, Sidae IS traumatized (I feel guilty lol) my, lot of spider peoplein Void lately. Lots of fun interactions possible.

Invader: Very Gaspard Noé in the beginning. The punchline however did... Fall down. ( I have terrible humor)

Fluff - This was a really fun interaction! Felt organic to me, and it was just sweet. The setup was funny and pretty creative, I like how you portrayed Lacy and how Sidae saw her when he was afraid. Enjoyed this a lot :) Gotta echo Heathen about the bare apartment though!

Diz - The coloured lines against black were a cool effect, but unfortunately since there was no shading or colour variation in the background, it took me longer than usual to make out what was going on, especially since most panels were closeups. The panelling oh pages 2 and 3 didn’t read clearly either. Also, Lacy looks huge on the first page - her head is to the right of Sidae’s so I assumed she was more to the side, but the top of her head ends in the same place Sidae’s does on the other side, making it look wider than his. On a positive note, I really like the panel on page 2 where Lacy says “What are you waiting for?”.

OH MY GOD IT'S SO GOOD
The family picture, the poses, the witchy coffee mug.
I'm learning that I need to take "vs" battles a lot less literally because I keep thinking we legit need the characters to fight. So i feel a little bad about how dirty i did your boy here.

Pretty good showing from both sides. Both comics highlight some glaring trouble areas, so kudos for taking some risks.

Fluff: 3.7 that coffee table is broken, and duct tape ain’t gonna fix it! There are tons of great resources online for learning perspective, or just hit me up anytime if you want a crash course.

Both apartments are also completely bare. Sidae seems to only have a mattress, and Lacy only has a stripper pole and a coffee table. Are they both squatters??

Diz: Doing colored lines over a flat black page is not the same as lighting. Work on establishing your light sources and indicating form with your shadows. It’s definitely more work, but the results will speak for themselves.

Diz! I love it! I love the neon lighting you did!
Fifth page final panel with her making the surprised face is my absolute favorite!
