Swag! WAS THAT A REFERENCE TO "THE SKATEBOARD KID"!?!? Everything here kicks ass. If we both happen to move on to the next round i hope i'm not up against you.
Fred! I haven't laughed that hard in a while. very serene till its not. I think your comic was the most entertaining in all of round 1.

Swag: The comic is pretty but Id pay attention to the overall color balance of the pages. Each individual panel is pretty but they sometimes clash when you look at the whole page composition. Its pretty busy and could use more breathing room. Also I did not get that the ending was him in the real world. I legit thought he fell out of the sky and crush a pigeon.
Lefred: I very much enjoyed this comic as it was really darkly humorous. The best kind of humor. My critique here is that because you used a repeating background that background could have used a bit more spit and polish. The fire looks wonky.

this has to be one of the most fun match ups ive seen so far in the race, both sides ran wild with it.
Swag- this is a beautiful comic and the humor is exactly my cup of tea. the ending had me rolling.
Fred- the comedic timing on this was great, I felt it did what it set out to do though... man... that crocodile is staring into my soul.

@SWAGPLANTER - Your colors are AWESOME. and I love the perspective you've got going on in page 5! THATS SOME SERIOUS AIR, SMOL. I did not understand the humor in the chicken bit, but the repeating panels did emphasize it.
@FRED - I am not sure if this is finished or not? It was a cute interaction, and I think the kicking bit was out of nowhere and pretty amusing. It seemed like it was more of a prequel comic than a round 1 race though.

@swag: Very pretty comic! The level of finish you have after just one week is unbelievable! Visually stunning. The story definitely feels incomplete, but you wrote it to be kind of a cliffhanger, so I guess that's intentional. I guess all I really have to add is that it would have been nice to see a bit more personality from Lucy and whoever that guy is. Your emphasis on action and sparkly visuals I think took some quality away from your character writing. But overall, I'm just blown away with this! Awesome work!
@fred: Gotta dock you points for reusing basically the same background throughout the entire comic. It had a fun little slice of life feel to it, with a great punchline at the end. A bit underwhelming overall, especially compared to some of your other work, but I don't know if there's anything specific I can point out as a problem. It's just generally kind of short and sweet without much depth or story to it, which is fine but not very strong for a full comic. Still, I always enjoy your style and your experimentation with page layout, format, and style.

Swag - Two words: Talking hoverboard. That is all.
Fred - Gotta admit I liked the story but where's the race?

Swag: Smol hallucinating the race is genius !! you can allow yourself all sort of creative scenaristic twists! Rooting for this one
Fred: I laughed hard with that one...but it really lacked intensity. Lucy can be much more cringyfunny.

Swag: I love the idea of him just imagining it all and skating through the city saying "Wacky raccesssssssss" though it isn't conveyed all that well. Maybe one way in future ones you could convey that is by having different panel borders for the dream wacky races and a border for what's actually happening. also inter-cutting between them more could help, ofcourse these are 1 week comics so that would be hard with that timeline but something maybe you can try.
Fred: That was pretty simple but fun with good dialogue and humor. I really enjoyed it and wish i had more to say about it but i'm coming up with blanks.

PyrasTerran: Swag:... but I don't understand the ending <_>; forgive my ignorance if there's something I'm not getting

ya i was a lil concerned that my 'plot' to the comic wouldn't read super well since i don't really explain it anywhere, but its supposed to be like, after hitting his head smol gets a concussion and is just hallucinating the wacky races but irl hes running around causing a ruckus. so i'll make sure it reads better in the next round, thanks for the feedback on that 0/

Swag: Hey I'm really digging this gritty new linework and you have some truly inspired compositions especially on page 5, major kudos all around... but I don't understand the ending <_>; forgive my ignorance if there's something I'm not getting

Swag: Oh my gosh, the color choice in this is wonderful! Everything is saturated just enough that it sticks out very cleanly. The composition and the action is also excellent all over! I don't think I could give enough praise to either of those, really. Technically, this is a masterful work imho? The framing narrative is also a neat unique factor for your whole plotline.
Fred: awww man i wish you had remembered you were in the wacky races. there's something appealing about the humble pacing here, but overall, there really ought to be more.
