Pita - Your comic was super cute, not only was it charming and the colors were quite nice, but I thought you really retained the charm of Zoey - it felt a lot like a character of your youth. The shift in tone at the end was a very interesting choice, didn't think it would get that dark, but then again it is a death tournament! overall a great entry.

Fu - The monochromatic choice works really well with the darker tone, and samira is one ruthless homie! The payoff could've been better though, as the final page felt a bit redundant.

G.Lo: Although it's short and sweet, I definitely wished we got an exterior shot of where exactly Zoey and Samira are.

It's the dungeon on the island in the establishing shot.  I guess I should have exposited that better.

PITAFISH- If this was a cute off, most def a win Zoey is quickly pecking her way into my heart. I super dug the videogame reward theme with acquiring items off your opponents. I definitely want you to go all the way to see what kind of rad hodge podge armor she ends up with. This was a short and sweet battle, with some well placed humor besides. Samira unable to resist her Frisbee chasing nature had me grinning.

FUKURO- I like the change in the air compressor getting a more serious comic from you. Your inks are stark and crisp and you werent afraid to use black, which makes me happy. I was on board with how the scene was set, but story wise I have to admit I wasn't really feeling it. I'll definitely echo the sudden feel of the comic, that while the dispatching of Zoey was cool, the lead up and aftermath felt kind of 'well, thats that'.

Pita:
I think you win cutest death haha. The play on Samira's doggyness was definitely cuteness overload. I also like how Zoey has to see the "adult" or true consequences of adventures, even with cartoony gore, I feel it works really well!

Although it's short and sweet, I definitely wished we got an exterior shot of where exactly Zoey and Samira are. Was this some strange place that neither of them were familiar with and Samira just followed Zoey there? I know that probably would have taken a lot more time to incorporate for our one week deadline, but I do think leaving that info takes me out a little bit.

Fukur0:
Ahhh your blacks are so nice and strong and so crisp! I got a feel for where we were without you needing to divulge to much info, and everything flowed smoothly and was clear cut.

I think you missed a GREAT opportunity to make some nasty popping and cracking noises when Samira rips off Zoey's head. I also wish the death was a little more... extended? Kinda echoing off of Petarvee; the death scene kind of happened a little on the quick side. It just happened.

These were both solid entries guys!

I liked both of these a lot. Nothing felt forced at all and the visuals for both were really consistent.

@Pitafish Your layout was really easy to read but, although your colour choice is above my own skills, I felt like the characters didn't really pop off the page. In this case I can see that being useful as the intent was comedy. which I did laugh, though I felt terrible. lol.

@fukur0 Really like the story, flowed really well and the surprise on page 3 was a good, though it could have been a page turner. also page 3 could have been refined a bit more. regardless I loved it start to finish.

Pita:
ZOEY'S SO CUTE!! I really like what you did with the shield/frisbee joke, and you seemed to get a pretty solid grasp on the personalities of the characters. That being said, I do think the entry was a little short so we didn't get to see as much of that characterization as I would have liked!

Fuku:
A very good round indeed! >:0 The first thing I notice is that you've put in a lot of bust shots where I feel you could have done some different angles. It was a BRUTAL fuckin' fight, and I like the skull at the end with her sword and shield, but it didn't really.. pop for me. Don't be afraid to go nuts with your fights! You have a character built for it!

@Pita I gotta admit, that death really made me chuckle. Overall, I really dug it! Ya sold the punchline well and got pretty creative with the ending. I think my big note would be to watch your overlapping balloons and characters. I found myself skipping a few panels here and there because something interesting was poking in from the side. And maybe whip the camera around a bit more? High angles, low angles, all that good dynamic stuff.

@Fu Ayyy, that was pretty sick! I'm glad you were able to keep it so readable with only black and white; like hot damn, that's an accomplishment! Plus, I really love how you were changin up the camera angles and focus; your draftsmanship got a lot better! As far as writing, I think the big stickler here is that it's sorta just a Standard death. Like the fight was interesting, but the payoff didn't give me that "YES" moment. But overall, you're improvin, and I dig that!
