Pocket: Thank you for the crit :D Super appreciated. What I did with the textures was I took a texture and used multiply and threw a layer on top of that for color. If it is too extreme, I suppose I could lower the opacity?  Glad you like the way I've blurred lines, that was just using watercolor over my lines.
Also I really really really like the ideas you gave me for coloring. Those techniques in the links were a good direction and I'll be sure to grace you with examples in later battles or BB's.

Le Fred What really jumps out at me is how it seems like she's got lost on a totally different continent to where your last race (and everyone elses, really) was set. That in particular really made it for me, other than your style in general which I do adore.
The last page disgusts me, but in the best possible way. <3
If I was going to nit-pick (which I am because otherwise this will just be uselessly hollow, sorry) I would just point out you missed colouring at least one speech bubble;
Ironically the one that says 'can't miss it'
Which makes me wonder if it was on purpose but either way.
Edit: I totally forgot to mention, I think I'd really like to see you shake up the ways the panels are shot a bit more, they're all kind of 'head shoulders pretty much face on' at the moment. Again, Nitpicking! I think maybe that has to do with time constraints perhaps though, so anyway;

Thanks for a remarkable read!

Julienya: There are so many things to love about this comic. My personal favorite thing is the snail. That is deliciously funny. I feel like that when I am stuck behind a slowwy going at like minus five miles per hour. Brilliant. Aside from that, I'd like to second what Bobo said about the cars being excellent. Oh gosh and the bottom panel on page seven, with the bridge, I love that. (I personally would have been tempted to mirror-flip the whole page but it might just be me)

Here are a couple of things I think you could benefit from trying:
Actually I am super impressed you coloured all this. I think you mentioned you had kinda a bad week, so before I go ahead and say this please don't think I am disgustingly horrible; the effort is a delight on it's own: Your colours can get a little muddy, Muddy colours do work well at times, and the last page would definitely asks for the lower tone treatment you gave it (made me all like YESSS) but I will say that if you do use that shake it up with a brighter colour to inject some real life into it. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9u64hVnGk1qb3pqdo1_1280.jpg
This is an example of how I mean; blues in the background are giving nice muddy moody effect to the image, but bright yellows and red in spots reaaaallly liven it up; that kind of thing works great and maybe you can play about with it?
Other than that try to keep in mind the greyscale thing; contrast can be amazingly beautiful weather it's between two colours or two shades or a nice mix of both, like these two:

Hopefully that'll give you some ideas to try out for yourself.
I'd also say maybe try bringing the texture down a tad too, just to see how it works out? I only say that because usually the 'watercolour paper' would be 'under' the colour irl so seeing it so intensely kind of breaks the feel of what it would be like in reality? Again maybe just mess about with how strongly you layer it on, see how it changes the overall feel.
Either way, it's been a real pleasure reading your battles, I enjoy your flavor of comedy and hope you choose to indulge us some more. :3c

Edit: I totally forgot to mention; the bits where you're playing with the blur tool are starting to work! You need to push that to it's fullest next time for sure!<3

(going to do LF in a separate comment now.)

LeFred, now I'm never going to get that image out of my head. Damn you!!!! Otherwise, a very entertaining comic, although I liked Nyasuu and Jimmy more than Lucy this time around. Sorry you ran out of time, but I'm impressed with the quality you churned out anyways. The backgrounds were especially nice; I loved the city you put the characters in!

Julienya: I'm starting this crit about halfway through your comic because I love it so much already that I have to tell you how awesome it is. The first page totally caught me off guard and made me laugh out loud at 6 in the morning when I woke up and read these comics first thing (if you've woken up early several days in a row, you understand how that can be quite an accomplishment). You brought your A game as far as details in this comic. I think you just might be the best at drawing real cars in this tournament hahah! The dynamism of cars swerving, screeching to a halt, and even going slower than a (super adorable) snail was extremely entertaining. And then I got to the ending, and bawwwwwwwww... Joolio, you know how to play with a man's emotions! Five stars to you, ladyfriend!

Submitted. I think it really lacks the transition it needed to really get the emotion down, but in a week I had to make some sacrifices :c
