Joshua - I loved the tone and style of the whole comic. It felt almost old fashioned, like The Ankle-Breaker was Mighty Casey. The spattering of tiny panels on the first page was lovely. I've been trying to resist the urge to do more interesting panel layouts lately, and you're not helping >: I

I think the use of half-tones and patterns really meshed well with the loose line-work, but I think you sort of subverted it with the stabbing panel on page 6. I get you wanted to go for something bold and jarring, but I think you went too far. I think either the full color, or the removal of patterns would have been enough.

Pi - Maybe you didn't get it as complete as you would have liked, but I liked it. It was simple and funny. Ankle breaking is always funny. I don't know if it was because you were rushed but your line work was a little inconsistent. Sometimes it was rough, and at other times fluid and active. Quite a few of Ankle Breakers poses had some great action in them, it sucks you couldn't fully work them out.

Joshua-I really liked that first page, the layout was very nice and interesting. From there however, things sort of fell apart. I'm fine with expressive lineart, but it looked as though you were using the halftone pattern to hide the rushed lineart. The halftone pattern to me was very jarring and difficult to look at because it was way too large for the pages.

Pi-You had a lot of potential with what you had set up, especially when there was action. But I think the short deadline didn't do you any favors as there's not much to look at here due to the extremely unfinished nature of the comic.

HAHAHA Thomas, that was pretty damn funny! Too bad you didn't have time to refine the drawings more, but I could tell what was going on for the most part.  Quite enjoyed the poem at the beginning, and my fav. moment was when T.A.B.  states: "YOU! I've come for your ankles!"  LOLLLL funny dialogue :)

uploaded roughs, just got off a ten hour shoot, have a splitting headache. i should be able to take a nap and wake up in time to finish them for real, this is just a safety measure.

It's always cool to see how artists portray each others characters, especially when you have so little to work with. I can't wait to see what ankle you both approach the story from!
