Thanks for all the kind words everyone, my apologies again about the minuscule page count, but like i said i decided to give my classes priority over this battle.  That aside i like what i did here better than my first round, there were too many continuity errors, as well as pacing issues in it , for this one I wanted to keep it short and simple and i'm happy i did so.

I hope i did Caesars character justice, though i wish i made it more of a fight taking him out, it wouldn't have been this easy if i had more time ;) Best of luck in the next round dude, i can't wait to see you in the finals!

And RTV, my next battle is all yours.  I'll be in touch.

P.S.

Steve, Sorry about the food poisoning, you shoulda stuck with the eggburger.

Fetusguy - it's been a while since i've seen such a powerful comic made of only three pages in general.
You got the pacing, impact and climax nailed down.
Solid man. Loving the line art, especially the thick ones. The angles felt really cinematic, that SHANK!-moment in particular.
The end comment made me smile.

Iketerudude - Likewise, pacing, strong angles and an awesome impact. I like how Copper got his scar when he was younger. I really felt the military setting!
Kudos for your honesty at the end, hahahaha.

P.S.
both of you owe me a rematch and i will keep repeating it till i get it :p

I now find it ironic that Copper Mouth said Caesar had food poisoning as I am just now beginning to recover from a case of it myself.  Austen, I think you are a prophet.

Fetus I have to say, less is always more in my book. Your execution with the hit on Caesar was perfect. Copper Mouth's wit at the end was excellent and funny.

IketeruGuy I loved the story jump into the past, the whole Somalian scene was great. Also great fighting scenes.

Great job guys, continue to do your best!

Evil Eye:  Sorry about the complex name; you can just abbreviate it to Ike or just call me Steve if you want in the future.

There was no truly special reason it took place in Somalia.  I certainly thought of it because of and was inspired by Black Hawk Down.  It really came down to needing a suitable untouched era of Caesar's life for the flashback though.  Caesar's had many flashbacks over the course of my first stretch here on Void due to his struggles with multiple personalities and amnesia.  Most of those took place about 10 to 15 years prior to the present so I needed something that didn't interfere with any of that and decided that I'd go back around 20 years this time since it was something that still worked for both characters (I generally write under the assumption that Void is in the perpetual "near future").  So once I decided on that Somalia just fit in nicely and was something a decent amount of people were familiar with.  I felt Copper Mouth's role was justified since his bio states he would fight on random sides during Vietnam and I saw no reason why such a chaotic guy wouldn't choose to fight the US Army just for something to do and people to kill.  In my imagination he probably wasn't working with the Somali militias as much as he was just killing everyone he could.

Thanks for your very well thought out comments!  I'm sure this fight could very easily have gone the other way if Austen had some more time to work on it.  Hopefully we'll get to have a rematch when he does!

Both are near perfect. I don't know what to say as far as critique, you guys do so much right ('cept of course your last two panels Iketeru XD)

But while both have great content in the end my vote goes to Ceasar for the sole reason that it has simply much more content, and works just as well as Fetus' 3-page even if it ends on a cliffhanger.

I just saw that Egg Burger sign on page one.  Egg + Burger.  That was great!

Thanks for all the tips and comments so far, everyone.  I appreciate it!

I personally though both were flawless IMO.

Though Fetus's story was short, it was necessary and was executed the way it needed to be, which is a BIG plus in regards to creativity.

Excellent on both to me, guys.
Good luck

fetusman:
The story feels very much like 2nd act in a movie - there's no build up and no release of tension. It made me ask "why CopperMouth is following Ceasar?" and afterwards "what CopperMouth captured Ceasar?" - unlike your first round battle where I didn't really feel the need to ask the question "why did Chia-hui came to CopperMouth" after the conclusion in which CopperMouth decided himself he didn't want that anwser neighter XD rendering viewers question mute and giving a clousre in a way

IketeruGuy:
I'm jelous of you to have an old character that could battle CopperMouth and could add flashback to introduce viewer to some backstory. Sadly there's no real clousre instead of a cliffhanger, but while I haven't played DragonAge 2 yet (I finished Overloard2 durring drawning time) I understand you completly.

Wow, to both of you, color me jealous of your INKS.

Fetus: Short. It was nice, but it was just too short. I wanted more. This felt like the opening gag to a bigger comic. Nice inks, and good use of tones again, but I'm gonna have to say your round 1 was better, sadly

Iket: Now I loved this way more than your first round. THOSE INKS! The plot was pretty nice too. I certainly enjoyed this more than your round 1, and some of that has to be credited to lack of colors. Dug the gag at the end too, haha.

Fman: Short and simple, perhaps a bit too short and simple- but still funny! I love your style and overall sense of story flow. Felt there should have been a bit more to the beginning, but for a three pager it wasn't bad.

Iguy: Really nice and solid for the most part. I honestly think your work stands a lot better in black and white than with color. Lots of nice details, didn't feel too cluttered. The story was easy to follow and made sense. You did really well with this one, I am pleasantly surprised!

Fetus man, nicely done but pretty short, solid execution of a simple concept, but as much as I like straight to the punch comics where people will often go for overworked plot ideas, I definitely feel like there could have been more meat to this one

IketeruGuy - really fucking solid, great work. Would have far preferred to see this finished, think it could have been a little bit tighter plot wise around the flashback pages. Really like the direction this was taking though, it was very well drawn, and well pulled off, great job

Ha!  I don't know about winning this tournament, but thanks!  There's still quite a few people who make me nervous in this thing.

I had intended on having Caesar and Copper Mouth fight it out in the present too, but I had to scrap it due to time.  So I just had Copper drop out of the tournament because he's unpredictable and more interested in killing than fighting.  He's a fun character and I think you've done a great job fleshing out his personality.  Maybe we could collaborate at some point in the future as well!

Man, i can't even begin to say how awesome your half is! When you said you fell behind with the new game i thought i may still have a chance, haha!  Really excellent work, i love(emphasis) how you handled copper, much better than i have in any recent memory. The humor was great, nice lead in from my last story, you even drew the his building from my comic, too cool! I actually based that building on the apartment i first lived in here in Houston, and it looks like you were there drawing it yourself, nice! Great story and action, and tons of well done varied shots.  You keep getting better with each comic you do recently, once you've won this tourney i'd like a chance to take the title from you.

Great work again, you're a beast!  Inspiring work!

Dude, I can't say enough how much I like your style and your storytelling.  I really think it's top notch!  I really want to fight you again when your schedule gets more open!  Even though there are only three pages here, they're all well done and I wish I could grade for it!
