I can't tell you how happy I was to see you two pitted against one another-- the results were DELICIOUS.
Obviously, with a week deadline SDT entries are going to be rushed. You guys are both phenominal artists, to have thrown down what you did.
Knomer, your inks are a little sloppier than usual (for obvious reasons). I'm seeing a lot of patchy blacks where there should be solids. S'not hard to fix, even in a rush. Backgrounds could use a little tightening. ex: When Gabo skitters around the corner in that broken-down house, the perspective gets wonky. Love your story, though! The action was easy to follow, and I liked how your piece followed Galvo's last submission so neatly. The invented weapon was a nice detail, by the by.
Galvo, your colooooours. So pretty. I love the palette you've chosen for this. I get a strong sense of the atmosphere in this piece-- low light, high tension. It's good.
The art is looser and faster than your last submission, though-- reeeeeeally loose and fast. The dry brushing was an interesting variation on the linework, but it always LOOKED like drybrushing, instead of integrating with your piece.
I still love Gabo's girlfriend. She's delightfully endearing.
Strong match, guys. Well done!

Hmm I liked Knomer's side overall. Aside from his excellent use of b and w (I'm biased yeah) it's pretty detailed and well done in my opinion. Though at times it does get a little sloppy and loose but it's the kinda thing that just needs more tightening and doesn't take away from the story so much. This had great action and I was drawn to the story. I think skids has been one of my favorites in this SDT. Rage filled psychopath that he is, it's just fun. But storywise it is hard to imagine what sort of grand conspiracy there could be in killing a simple guy like Gabo. But I guess it's something that would need a larger picture to make sense.
Hmm now Galvo's side the art isn't really as strong. The lineart is very loose and boring in fact. But, it's the colors that make up for it. The strength of your entry is really based on the strength of your colors. I mean, it's great that the characters are fully drawn and there is a credible background, which are major points of contention but at the same time the lineart isn't that good and the color often hides it. But you're obviously an incredible colorist. The story...uh...I dunno. The coin thing seems random, could be something interesting but I'm not quite biting yet. Though Skids' death was well handled I think.

Haha I really like in Skidmark's side how Gabo kept hiding from him. Both were good comics, but I think overall my vote goes more to Knomer on this one!

Gabo- Just like you said, you brought it hermano. But I have no problems eating donuts, its the drawing a story in a week that kills me. My favorite is the comment on page 12 "fuck yer coin and fuck you old man." classic skids. And I'm now invested in your storyline. With your lead, you got the juice now homie.

KNOMER-- MAN! i think we were both in this like 150% at the beginning and then just said "FUCK THIS DONUT IS TOO BIG FOR ME TO EAT!", you did an epic job though man.. THANK YOU for understanding my character and pushing your furry hate on him, i loved it.
i was hoping for a lil color from you, but you gave me some love either way.. thanks baby.
phil -- thank you sir, and yes -- this SDT shit is like, sloppy city lol
mel, thanks hun-- and hopefully i'll rock yer loins a lil longer!

Both of these were equal in quality almost, but Gabes was the most appealing to me. I've always been a fan of his lightsourcing and smooth way of making something simple look like a lot more than it is. The story has a lot more "UMF" and detail to it instead of just a "I kill you now, you ded, I win".
Knomes was a bit sloppy in a way and it lacked a lot of contrast. I was a bit disappointed with the stories ending after it started out so well, but hey- time plays an important role in this.
Gabe going deep into this won it for me. My womanly loins quiver every time he wins! GOOD LUCK, BABE!

Knome: Your art alone in this tournament is a serious level up from your usual! But I still feel like it goes from super clean and crisp, to fuzzy linework that's like a new sharpie pen. I think you should try to use more cross hatching with those spotted blacks man, those are fucking ace! The story was fine with me, liked the beginning, ending seems a bit of the same ol SDT fallback. Great and solid comic dude.
Galvo: I rated you lower than Knome in terms of quality since it looked like you were losing steam towards the end. The story more than made up for it as I liked how you're putting more story into this tournament as opposed to the meet and fight scenarios that I've seen thousands of times. I think you and Knome had the same beginning in this round oddly enough, but your story was better. My vote goes to you.

Both were equally, simple and well executed.
I think both had a grasp of each others opponents. I admire Galvo for being able to embed a deeper story within the tourney.

Knomer, some killer lettering on here, i'm always loving your inks, would've liked to see even more black fills on it to creep up the atmosphere.
Great to see you two duke it out!
