Hi! I\'m new, but I wanted to throw in my thoughts also.

I enjoyed Red\'s submission, although I think someone stated the art was a little flat sometimes.  But I thought it was their particular style--I don\'t know whether Red did that on purpose or not, so I guess I can\'t come to a conclusion about that.  I do, however, like the color choices, they were very nice.

Even though Squid just submitted pencils, I could tell what direction they were going in with the art.  Some panels were very enjoyable, I think page three or something had a close-up of the heroine\'s eyes.. that was probably my favorite panel.  But there were still problems with storytelling, I couldn\'t tell what was going on after a while and I kept wondering \"how did that person get there?\" and things like that.

Great job, the creativity here is inspiring!

Red:

Only thing that bothered me that hasn\'t been said: your gutters, the black panel outlines cross into them in some places, they look better on the pages where this does not happen. Anatomy-wise the walking into the sunset silhouettes on page 6 were kind of wonky,maybe draw the character first then fill in with black?  The rest looked good to me and consistent with your style, and your anatomy is getting better since last comix like people said already. Ben\'s expressions were good throughout, her roommate\'s didn\'t look as nice.

Great layouts, good story, awesome job on the watermelon booby-shake, those kind of actions are hard to convey! Good colors, great effort, TL Bot is Totally Likable! Good job on Ben. Your comics are steady hilarious.


Ben:

Your drawings are wonderful! Great 3d construction to all your characters, good job on TL Bot. Your story was cool too, I like how you continued from the last space adventure, and you picked up on the \"puppet stuff\"!

This will be an awesome BB!  In the meantime, I think most of the layout/panel/lettering issues will be resolved with the finished inking, and cleaning up of your pages.  Except for that one crazy page of course. You\'ll just have to limit how much stuff \"spills out\" of your panels in this comic, reserving it for key moments maybe? It looks great, but I see it as the only thing that could make your layouts confusing in the final... SWITCHING TO PINCHY MODE haha.

REDREVOLVER- I read this comic more than once and then went back to the first battles you did. Its almost surreal to see how much your work has improved and evolved. Your people anatomy is so much better and you\'re no longer trying to hide sections in constant waist up shots. Your backgrounds are really good too! I love the minimal use of texture here and there- it really compliments your style.
In all honesty, when I read your story, I had to check and see that you wrote it XD I totally thought it was Squids. Hilarious subject matter, your opponents personality was down to a T and yet again you manage to make a totally lame robot a fan favorite. Great job =D


SQUIDMAN- I don\'t care what anyone says- this comic was awesome. You know you have an engaging and interesting story when you find yourself struggling to read some of the text on the pages, but you don\'t care. XD I know folks are all \"Well it wasn\'t finished,\" but your quality and humor really shined despite this. Your pencil work is very smooth and carries the same impact as your inks.
I am in love with Ben\'s facial expressions (and am totally going to be referencing them for Mimi!) and how her face squashes and stretches. She\'s so off the wall and out there that she left me totally in love. I had thought from her first comics that she was going to be a fighter that grated on my nerves with her \'annoying humor\' and obnoxiousness, but it seems you\'ve found the perfect blend of awesome with this battle.

Rock on, the both of ya\'s.

i wanted to read this so badly, i decided to shuck off reading it when i got to a higher connection & paged through of 56k haha but it didn\'t disappoint. both sides were fun reads, despite the work in progress aspect of squidman\'s. good work!

I dunno about you folks, but what I\'ve learned from the past is that an unfinished comic that\'s barely readable, isn\'t as good as a finished comic that you can read.


Red: YOU THIEF!! Just kidding, your inking has defenetly stepped up from your last fight, along with your backgrounds. Just be careful of your perspective now hun, a couple of panels where you had ben and her roommate in a single shot looked a bit funky, like Ben was standing in a hole. Best thing to do in order to prevent this odd look is to try to draw lines of perspective around the areas where a character\'s feet should be, Ben is really tall now, so I think you can get away with having her look really big in 2 point perspective shots where she\'s in the foreground.

Anywho, I thank you for the cameo, and I really enjoyed the story you brought to the table here.


Squidman: Hun, I know you can really blow away anybody with a finished comic. The art looked very promising granted a few pages seemed to be way too cluttered with panels, and the story was fun and entertaining. But... I cannot vote for this, half of the text is faded out and barely visible which made reading a chore, and more than half of the time I can barely make out what\'s going on in a few pages.

Don\'t get me wrong though, lots of shit came up for ya and I understand that, and I\'m sorry for acting like an asshole here too. But you defenetly would of had my vote had you of finished this nice and proper. I would love to see this finished in he future soon.



Overall, I really enjoyed what you both put forward here, but I gotta give it to red for her work here. Squid, get to finishing your half OK?

personally i think Ben\'s was better overall, without haveing finalized inks or what not, it felt more creative and much more fun to read :3

not saying the TL bot battle was not good, it was also good. more points in quality then Ben\'s.

Awesome battle you guys! I loved how different both of your stories were. Red, you\'re really improving and your comic was really cute. But, as pointed out by other people, your backgrounds are kind of flat and your poses are sometimes awkward.
Squid, your style is fantastic and there was a lot of energy. I was confused as to what was going on at some parts, but I think that was just the slight messiness of it, and when I read it over again it made sense. I wish it would have been finished.
Great job on both parts though, I loved it.

Red: oh man, i love where your art is going; it seems like it gets refined and and better everytime you submit a comic. Loved your background too, even though sometimes it felt a little isolated ( i\'m guilty of doing that too V_V ). But then again, it could just have been an isolated part of the city... ( i like the textures you\'re using for the backgrounds too ). I thought it was pretty clever with the 3 points of what TL Bot always does, expecially that \"make cameos\" part ( in fact......he appears in my up coming comic too! XDDD and that\'s why it was THAT much funnier XD ) You just gotta love him; you can\'t blame us :] He\'s so innocent! I adored that he was willing to help Ben in her quest for popularity~ And i feel like you always do a great job with making TL Bot communicate with only body language and \"Beep, Boop, and Bzzt\". You can always tell what he\'s doing or what he wants to say =] I loved this and i can\'t wait for what little TL Bot gets into next XD

Squid: OH GOD, i just love your whole STYLE! Everything seems to always like...\"flow\" (?) nicely and there\'s always a lot of movement; i like that, no one ever comes out looking stiff or still =] I adore your angels too and you seem to always know where to place those crazy angle shots; very nice :] Your expressions are on key too! Even if i wasn\'t reading the words, i would probably still have a clue onto what was going on just by the facial expressions and suggested body movements ( and i just LOVE that <3 ) And Ben....Fuck, what can i NOT say about her?! XD Everytime i read another comic with her, i love her more. I\'ve got to say, i\'m becoming a Ben fan (and a fan of your art style too; you make me wanna use ink brushes instead of just pens ) XD But same as everyone else said, it was hard to read at some points, but i pretty much got it \'3\' I really hoped you could have finished this and i look forward to this when it\'s finished =]

TL Bot- I think you won this one for me but not by much. Colors are great and it looks clean. but your drawings just seem real flat despite the attempts at 3d Backgrounds. Mostly because your characters always seem to be drawn standing straight looking directly at the camera or directly to the side. I\'d suggest practicing on flexing your figures around a bit.

Squid- despite not having finished this I think you could have won with just a little more cleaner text. pg 4 was such an eye strain to read for me that I couldn\'t continue reading. I just looked at the art from that point on. I really liked the angles you had and what your shading could have been had it been completed. Maybe next time don\'t try to go for an overwhelming page count Quality over Quantity.

Red: I simply loved the color choice you had this time, really eye-catching. The lines are also improving a lot, they are more solid and stuff. I think your anatomy still have room for improvement though, since many Ben\'s poses are kind of weird, and have strange shape. I thought the story was really enjoyable!

Squiid: I think those sketches would give really killer lines, too bad you couldn\'t finish, but I really hope you do it eventually! My biggest problem here were the panel attack, so many of them in a single page!! Aside from that, I really enjoyed the poses and perspective, really impressive. I got a bit confused at the paper toys part, but it wasnt a big deal really. Now.. go finish eet D:::

yeah.. colors... eventually. xD I guess I do need the practice. Thanks for the comments, everyone. I know I can\'t really expect a lot of critique on an unfinished entry, but if there are any suggestions as to things I could fix before I finish up, it would be appreciated.

@RedRevolver: LOL, loved that ending XD You had some really nice colors and backgrounds.
Careful with your anatomy though, I felt that the characters looked a bit stiff a few times.

yeah only a few pages  gave me any issues. I think it was because you were writing over text that was already there or on top of pictures on the first page, and on the 4th page it was just too light. And I\'m sure you can make the smaller panels work, just practice with it!

It will definitely be finished, I promise! I\'m hoping I can do it within the month?

Angie, was it hard to read on just a few pages? Cause I was thinking of lettering that way when I ink them, too. 8| Was it my handwriting, or was it too light, or something else?

RedRevolver-Damn you leveled up in this battle. I really liked that you paid attention to your backgrounds more this time around. Keep on pushing them to make them even better! Perhaps adding more detail and do a bit more with your shading would help even more. Just be careful with your perspective, some of it looked a little off to me. I found the story very entertaining as well, you did a very good job with getting Ben\'s personality across. I look forward to your next battle dude

Squidman-It sucks you didn\'t get to finish. I did have a hard time getting through your battle, maybe lettering it digitally would have helped make it just a bit easier to read. You did a great job on the expressions and you always do such a great job with your poses. I think really the only thing I would want to see you work on is maybe doing some larger panels. With a bunch of tiny panels, the layouts tend to get cluttered and difficult to read, so giving your panels breathing room would really help with clarity finished or not. Other than that there\'s not much I can really say, I hope you go back and finish this sometime

I had started to color this comic, but for the sake of consistency, I am only submitting the inks. Hell, maybe it\'s a good thing, I needed to work on inks anyways... I actually think they might be strong enough to stand on their own this time.
