There\'s not that many comments on this that haven\'t been made already.

Z3RO- I gotta admit after that kick ass intro page I was ready to sit back and enjoy some dazling panels, so I was a little peeved. Your work is bland but clean and with more time/focus/practice/whatever disciplinary aspect you may be lacking I\'m sure the result would have been kick ass.

Garic- Your details and plot are as always impressive. But where Z3RO has you is in the cleanness of lines and all that. I\'m supposing that some of this was rushed and that\'s where that came from. But overall I thought it was a good and funny story. Void does love the indie characters, but not too indie (damn triangles)

Z3R0-I have yet to see a battle from you that looks as good as your intro pages. The things I would like to see you work on are your poses are pretty stiff and your backgrounds are pretty bland. Backgrounds are only as boring as you make them out to be, try to work on making them interesting, put your own touch on them if it helps to make them more fun to draw. With your poses, it helps to start out with a line of action so you can exaggerate your poses more easily. Also try to push your stories further. Give the reader some insight into who Arke is, try to give him more personality to keep us wanting more. This is an improvement from your previous battles so keep at it and try to push yourself further.

Garic-I love your inking and I really wish that your pages were larger so I could see your details much easier. I thought it was a pretty fun read and wish you battled more since what you\'ve done thus far has been pretty entertaining. I do think you should try something else on your next battle though since you\'ve done Void jabs your past 2 fights and you can only do stuff like that so much before it gets stale.

Ye thanks Phil mucho appreciated :) I actually have a few sketch books, I should get off my lazy ass and use them

@Garic lol that I didn\'t see one coming, well played Garic :D I felt more sorry for that triangle

Sorry that I half-assed this battle Garic :(  Bad planning on my side. If we ever have a rematch I\'ll do much better, I hope

Thanks for the comments. Phill -- I agree with you that I need to work on my inking, although some of the slopiness you mentioned was just due to time constraints.  About the story, though, the idea was to play with stereotypes...so if you noticed that I guess its a good thing.

Well... It was nice to see you both fight.

Z3RO: Where to begin... first thing I\'d work on is backgrounds and perspective, I DID notice that you were using some nice 1 point perspective there, however you forgot one important thing: People and perspective. Look at the guy in the very back, draw two lines using the 1 point perspective from the top of his head and the bottom of his feet, now these lines can be used to figure out where the two characters in the foreground should be, I measured this out myself, and the only way those two should be at that angle for the viewer is if they\'re in holes in the ground. Two conveniently placed holes in that school. As a rule of thumb I always tell myself: People are affected by perspective along with the background. This keeps your characters from looking like they\'re standing on a slope and about to slide down from how their standing, or from looking like they\'re in a hole in the earth.

Now, another thing you should practice with backgrounds and you\'ve got the skills for this: DETAILS! I saw lots of nothing in this comic, and you obviously have the skills to really wow people here, and we\'re getting lots of negative space instead. Think to yourself about what is in a background (don\'t just assume details means bricks and cracks in glass and cement) He\'s in a hospital right? Would there be a drinking fountain? Chairs for people to sit and wait on? Magazine racks? Snack Machines? Ask yourself what is in a place you want to draw, gather up reference of real places of what you want to draw, and take the best of what you see and put it into your comic.

The last thing you should really practice is drawing on a daily basis, you don\'t have to draw comics every day, but you should consider getting a web blog or a sketch book and keep yourself drawing EVERYDAY! This helps keep your mind focused and sharp so that when you\'re on a deadline to draw, it won\'t be such a chore and you can easily whip out a nice and finished 3 or 10 page comic without struggle. I wish you luck with your next fight.

garic: I really liked the story and art for this comic, but I gotta say the inking on this is just sloppy! The first page\'s establishing shots while clever really had me squinting to figure out what was going on. I did love your use of blacks for those dramatic shots of Bub and Arke from time to time in the comic, but you really need to ease up on using scribbles for shading, at times it got a tad messy and at times I really wish you\'d lighten up on the extra lines. Also, I would like to really push forward the idea of backgrounds that aren\'t just bricks on a white wall.

Half the time things like Bub\'s approval committee desk looked really neat, but most of the time it just looked like you had to rush everything at the last minute. When it comes to backgrounds, if it\'s way messy, there\'s a good chance important characters will be lost in that mess. Like Z3RO, I think you could really benefit from more background studies and attention to details.

Last thing I\'d like to talk about is the story going on here, I did think it was clever (if not a bit risky... o_o ) to have Bub act as one of the Approval Committee, but it kinda felt like you were just playing on a stereotype of  what they do in the approval committee when it comes to fighters. That might just be me though...

Overall, you had my vote.

Z3RO, start filling up a sketch book as soon as you can, draw a page of sketches every day and start building up your drawing capabilities. Garic, keep practicing with those inks and clean it up. And work on those backgrounds you two! Let\'s see another fight from you two really really really soon! Like... right now! GO FIGHT AND DRAW! FOR GLORY!!
