Theres a way for the council to actually view the scores on these battles, so if there was cheating I\'m sure it would be mentioned already by those who have access. So lay off on the cheating accusations

slade - good first start! Story and concept was bland, but decent quality! I\'m sure the more you draw comics the more you\'ll become comfortable with your anatomy and comic flow. Would like to see some more innovative angles, and maybe some dramatic lighting

Kure - Your work is so exciting to look at!!! You\'ve really cut out a unique style for yourself. Nice use of lighting and love the lobster hating lesbo panel! I really enjoyed your fight dude. Seriously kudos. The only thing I want is a little more backgrounds!!

i hope so too. i told my friends more to show that i finally completed something (i suffer from cronic procrasination) then to garner votes... everyone that i talk to, i told them: if you vote, vote fair; not because i\'m your friend.

the voting concept on this site always gets to me.  Its bad enough that fan favoritism seems to be more important then ACTUAL art and story.  But the votes or voters are willing to cheat for thier friends or whatever....bleh.

Wow, 50/50 exactly as is. I don\'t remember who I gave the edge in my votes, but this is absolutely the closesest battle of the first round. Its still teetering both ways. Can\'t wait to see who comes out the victor in this one.

Slade: Congrats on being able to go toe to toe with Kure, thats really impressive for a newbie. Its not too unbelievable though, you backed it upi with a great comic. Overall it was full of action, but I\'ll admit it was a bit contrite. Not panel for paenl, but you really did see what was coming. You\'ve got to work on your creativity.

Kure: Another great comic. Very easy flowing and readable. I really enjoyed it although it seemed like a short fight. Good stuff over all.

Slade13: Your quality is decent, but MAN that plot and writing was a yawn-a-minute.  She cooked and ate her lobster opponent... wow... never saw that coming.  

Kure: I\'m always a bit biased towards your stuff, but I swear... it\'s because your quality kicks my ass.  The pacing on this one did seem a bit crammed-together, but all in all it was another solid submission from you.  Love your attention to detail, and it\'s those little background comments that crack me up.

All I have to say really, is that projectile vomit wins me over any day!

Slade13: Not bad, not bad at all, only thing I can really point out is that the penciled quality of your comic sorta gives it an unfinished look, mind you it was good however. Other than that I\'m glad your first comic wasn\'t too shabby. Though I think it\'s best you lay off the leave a comment button for a bit, you don\'t need to explain yourself to us dude.

Kure: Once again your inks are top notch dude, I really cannot point out anything that really needs to be fixed man. But your overall humor won the vote from me.

the reason for the thick lines was to give a sence of depth. that what i was going for at least.

As far as the battle goes you guys are pretty even…

Slade- I like your line work and your story. I think the shading could have been better, the pencil shading just did do much for me. Also the fire on page nine and ten was weakly drawn when compared to the rest of the story. You also thicken your outline around the characters in some panels but not others… I think it works well when you do it. You might want to play with that some more.

Kure- I loved all the cameos and the Popeye reference… There were a couple of panels that I found hard to read… namely on page four I had to go back and look at it again. The panel where lobster’s mouth opens up, I first thought that was one of his claws with some type of hole in it. And then when he hits her… I first thought she was jumping up into the air and after seeing the next panel had to look back up to make sense of what was happening. Those are little things.. but for me it broke up the flow of the story since I had to take some time to figure out what was happening.

indeed, a very nice battle. today i watched as it\'s been gravitating around .4 to 50/50 difference... i think ours is a very close battle. and with two more days, who knows who will win.

Both of you did pretty good for a week\'s time. I had to give you guys the same marks for creativity and entertainment, but Kure edged past Slade in the quality department. Your art was good Slade, and the action was very present, but I feel Kure\'s just has more appeal to it.

slade: death by cooking is the way too obvious way to go, i was hoping for something a little more inspired, but it was still a good fight.the pencil shading seemed a bit rough so your quality isnt as high as it could be. the proportions you gave lobsterboy kinda weird me out, but thats a little thing.

kure: i enjoyed it. like always, your look is very finished. entertaining fight, and that looks like a painful way to go. great cameos.

I think this battle is gonna be a close one. I have to give it to Slade, your battle helb my interest a little more, was easy to follow- had some good fighting and solid consistant quality. My only gripe is that Im not a big fan of hand lettered comics. PC lettered looks so much better, would have complamented your art nicely, and is easyer to read.

Kure- I love your toon-I think hes one of the more interesting entered into the STD and looks like alot of fun to draw. I liked your entry- I got lost a little here and there in your layouts but the style of your art is very cool. I think the color work you did for your model sheet might hace clarifyed your layouts a little better.

that\'s not why i studied. i noticed that there are various folks on void that tend to either be a bit less talented or (the more improtant one) not complete their works fully... and i found that kure is neither.

(by the way, did my \'research\' -read sat on ass enojoying the huge archive- before this tournament began.)

i have my work cut out for me. first round and i really have to prove myself.

for me, this battle is a true right of passage. (in the comic book sence at least)...
