Ok, here\'s a critique that would help you tons, but keep in mind I\'m still trying to perfect my anatomy skills as well, so I\'m not the best teacher of this subject.

First thing, fix the heads on your characters, considering the age of those fighters you\'re drawing, there heads should be alot smaller and there eyes smaller as well, you gotta ween yourself away from drawing those features so big and having the hair fall behind the eyes (so unnatural looking to me)

http://www.portrait-artist.org/face/eyes.html  (just found this, haven\'t gone through it, but it\'ll give you a good idea of what an eye really looks like.)

Hands are also something I\'d work on, the one panel before borris gets knocked flat by Harappa looks uber strange with that hand, he looks like he\'s going to drop that bottle. My best advice is to referance your own hands whenever you can! Believe me, it helps alot! Legs need work as well, one thing I\'ve learned is that the leg bends right in the middle, from the bottom of the foot up to the hips, the kneecap is right in the middle of the leg. So whenever you draw the hips to the kneecap, measure out that part of the leg and you\'ll have a basic idea of where the bottom of the foot should be.

Back to the face again, that nose of his is off model when we look at his side, in the front and 3/4 views his nose points out, but at his side it points up and turns into a beak. If I was to draw this guy in the side pose, his nose would have to also slant down and not point up, it would also concave in a way. This is really kinda hard to describe, just think of a human nose as a capital L shape that\'s connected to the face when we look at somebody from the side, at the bottom of that L we\'d have the chin of your character. Only if your character is an animal or has a muzzle should it look like a beak.

Aside from that, give this site a good looking over

That\'s all I can really give ya right now, those links should help you out tons, especially the Fineart one. Hope this helps.

Well, Jake, I really liked yours, the colouring was great, and you\'ve improved a lot since the first battle. I think one of the anatomy things that\'s thowing people off is Borris\' face. Sometimes it\'s a bit Picasso-ish. It\'s kinda weird. But really, I do like it, especially the moonlight lighting and Page 5 Panel 1\'s kicking pose, it\'s for some reason sticking in my head as a really nice little gesture, with good emotion and action, but still funny.
I find it ironic we both used alliterations to describe each other\'s fighters, as well... \"Pervy Pirate\" and \"Mangy Mongrel\". ^_^ hee. Best of luck to ya!

Great battle both of you guys. Steffox, I found yours a little hard to inderstand at some places, but it\'s very good, nonetheless. BBJake, as a few people have laready said, the anatomy\'s off in a few places, but I\'m not really sure what to suggest.

Hey youse guys! Thanks for commenting! Everything\'s always considered deeply. My first use of colored pencils in a LONG time (and I may stick with it if I can refine it some more). Sorry about that last page, but that\'s what I meant when I said I wasn\'t finished. I rushed the hell out of that one, so thats why it looks crappy.

You guys always say I need to work on my anatomy (no disagreements here) but how about pointing me in the right direction? What EXACTLY is wrong here, because I cant fix it if I dont know!

And I noticed the crappy camera angles before I had finished and figured I\'d go back and help them out if I had time in the end...but I didnt. Haha!

Steffox, awesomeness! (awesuma? maybe...) I love how you\'ve drawn Borris and made him all piratey (the earrings were a nice touch! I hadn\'t thought of that!) Your little comments all over were the best though (lol, stupid axe!) It was alot of fun to read!

Well, just so you all know (since everyone keeps commenting on it)... I *chose* to do this battle in pencil on purpose (going for a Marvel 1602 vibe). I usually ink all my work and I wanted to see if I could pull off the same level of completeness in a softer media, for fun and experimentation. (also I find I lose a lot of the original emotion and intent and details when I ink, which is something I\'m working on.)
^_^\'
But yes, since it didn\'t go over so well, I\'ll try inking it from now on. Sorry, just can\'t think of any other way to clarify that.

Jack - Aside from anatomy, you need some work on your poses and angles. A lot of your poses are stiff and flat, try drawing from action shots in sports and stuff to get ideas for poses, as well as studying the human anatomy in motion. The second big thing I saw was a great deal of poor angles. I\'d say about 90% of your shots were from right angles to the characters, which is not a good thing. Sure, those kind of shots can be good, but not on a consistent basis. The first panel on page five is a good starting point; try experimenting with dynamic angles. Think about making a comic like you were making a movie, you\'ve got to get the angles right and keep it interesting.

Steffox - Nice battle. The lack of backgrounds dropped the quality a bit, and the pose on the first panel of page five looks really awkward for someone to actually do.There were some anatomy issues as well, but overall, I thought you had a pretty solid entry. Let\'s see some more complete work next time?

Votes to Harappa, let\'s see more.

XD these were great guys! Nice work!

Jake: Hot. Damn. Those colours were excellent, right up until that last page at least...nice little throwback to...errr...past events? Things he\'s put behind him? XD The lighting was a damned nice sight! The story started off a bit too slow, and some more actual dialogue would\'ve been nice, but overall a well made entertaining story! For future introduction of crew members, the narration box really takes you out of the story, introduce via dialogue! The anatomy still needs a little work, but it is getting better! You tried out some pretty difficult poses in this one, well done!

Steffox:  You\'re shading is very nice, your Borris was stylish, and your plot device, inexplicable! XD I do like the fact that she doesn\'t go puppy every fight, nice touch! There were quite a few good lines, and 4th wall humour is always welcome. Anatomy also needs a weeee bit of tweaking from you, but overall not too bad. My only other suggestion is more backgrounds! You had some great locations in this that you could\'ve just gone crazy with!

Excellent work the both of you, can\'t wait to see your next fights.

Been a while since I commented on a fight

BBJake: Pretty good coloring on this fight, though some solid colors might help out in some areas, since the sun was setting some bolder colors would of made things look less white, and a mix of warm colors for the sunset (or dawn) would of also been choice. Though you did get in some good lighting, try working more with those colors. Last thing, anatomy and backgrounds, you gotta ween yourself away from drawing character heads so big man, some Loomis books will help ya out. And last thing, I would like to see a nice city scape from ya, the water colors do look good though.

Steffox: Artwise you\'re even with BlueBandana, but some colors and inks would step your game up in quality. Some backgrounds would help you out lots as well. Other than that, you were pretty even with Jake in my opinion, but I gave you a slight edge in entertainment.

Both of you did great, let\'s see more from ya two! Keep it up or something?
