MEGRE (rhymes with beleaguer) is a private detective with a menacing metal exterior covering a romantic's clockwork. He was called to the sleepy town of Valley Oxmund, Idaho, to investigate the shocking murder of local teen Harriet Asper. Together, he and his partner Gould (who unfortunately lost his body some time ago, and now resides as a voice in MEGRE's locket) intend to extricate truth from wherever it may be hiding and ensure justice for the snakewoman.
