Merry has been dancing on the silver screen for many, many years--to the point where despite his appearance, his age limits the amount of jobs he gets as a "child" entertainer.

Having a childlike appearance is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, Merry is able to manipulate a situation to his benefit by the sheer power of being cute. On the other hand, performing adult tasks is either impossible or difficult to take seriously by his peers, and his voice is a dead giveaway to his actual age. The frustration of his blight leads him to smoke a lot.
