Another very neat comic that takes a look at Choko's past and uniquely connects it to the previous entries as well. Having the injury Varaki received in the first round carry over to the third as his scar was also clever.

Still, I think its worth pointing out my gripes and criticisms. As has been said, yeah Varaki sorta just shows up at the end with little buildup. His reveal is pretty damn cool, just maybe some purple dripping in earlier in the comic to show his presence or something. Only other thing that comes to mind that warrants bringing up is that one shadow Choko that protected her younger self. I'm not sure there was an explanation as to what it was, and if it was Varaki corruption or an effect of Xiba's magic I am uncertain.

Despite my nitpicks, you put out a damn good comic so hats off to you for getting it done.

The colors, panelling, and just the quality of the art were a definite standout for this entry. Its very cool how the song lyrics weave into panels as well as how the pages turn more green as Xiba gains control of the fight. Brutal scars also, like god damn. Plus the little bit of purple corruption in the eyes of the inquisition dude at the start was a fun little detail.

If I were to give some criticisms or nitpicks, I think they would have to be about how you wrapped up the comic. While the conflict with Varaki was very good, I feel like Choko's inclusion in the finale was weak. She does do a lot in the comic, but even then there's only really two pages of them actually interacting/getting the scar. This may just be a symptom of how tricky three-way fights can be, but I still thought it was worth bringing up.

Aside from that I must reiterate that you did a bang up job on the comic and did a good job not dying.

Those were some awesome comics, and very fitting to have such a titanic end for Jade Town (rip).

Doe's comic are such a feast for the eyes. Despite being always primarily green and purple, they are meshed so well and somehow each comic so far felt unique with how they are used for everything from the backgrounds, the character and even the panel borders, and the texture is just chef's kiss. Likewise, I am a sucker for Tgood's greyscale, and love how the color pops up to draw attention to the most important moment, making contrasting with the black and white and the magic feel truly other wordly, like it is changing the reality around it.

The only points of criticisms I could think of would be that in Choko's story, Varaki feels a bit left out up until the end, and as I was almost worried he wouldn't show until the last two pages. However, I think the relation and history between Choko and Xiba, and the tie in to Varaki's appearance from the first comic more than make up for it.

It is sad that Tinn couldn't make it, but his work so far deserves just as much praise. They really managed to make Varaki leave their mark upon this whole event, enough to carry through the other comics as well, even beyond their own rounds.

Choko still has a chance to redeem herself as long as she's alive but is she willing to do it?

Wow, these comics have been truly an intense ride, and I’ll be honest I didn’t expect such an outcome, hell I was thinking Badger would have been part of the finals months ago when Cataclysm was announced but lo and behold, Doe was able to take out my favored pick for the win, causing well a cataclysm to my predictions which brings us up to the current state of events, a three-way battle for the end.

Sadly, we only got two out of the three comic tournament combatants,

Tinn - Take care of yourself, I know you weren’t able to show us what you had in store for this finale, but whatever it was, I sure Varaki was gonna be a true menace, rest up and don’t sweat it, there will be plenty of future chances for you to spotlight your talented comic skills.

T-Good - the opening gave me Little witch academia vibes, in a good way, it was a unique pleasure to delve more into Choko’s journey towards being a hero to the people and her time as a magical girl learning the craft, I dug it, my only nitpick was Varaki minor screen time in this battle, I know he was behind the whole illusion magic but I kinda wanted to see more of his purple monster self, none the less a great tale to conclude this event.

Doe- good job, ‘ nuff said….

Okay I kid, I’ll say more, I been enjoying the narrative you have been telling and revealing more about the ancient and mysterious culture of Karracinan and Xiba’s role as the scar of the world, its this lore and intriguing writing manage to get you a seat at the final dance, you efforts have been acknowledged, you are a true force to be reckon with here on this site.

I cannot wait to see what kind of shock waves the fallout of this cataclysm brings to the landscape and poor Jade Town, poor Mythra, Jade Town was where she kept all her cool stuff.

Keep making great comics y’all and I for one will keep reading and voting.

WHAT A FINALE!!! I am in LOVE with the twist where it seemed like Varaki had complete control over Xiba, only for his weak point—his lack of connection—to give Xiba and her people the advantage. What a cool turn off events!!! I also viscerally felt the anger from Xiba, after defeating a godlike being, to then be met with a human authority figure who dared to lay claim over her homeland! The scars this round were brutal and beautiful, the rage righteous, and the power unbeatable. you did an amazing job of filling out the arc of this tournament, giving us this moment where it seemed like all was lost before Xiba could even truly get started, only to show us that her people, who live within her and give her greater connection to magic and to the land she comes from, give her strength that can defeat even the greatest of foes.

can't wait to see what she builds next!

omg Choko was such a prodigy!!! this was such an illuminating look into her past, how she's always been ambitious, and even as a pure hearted child was breaking rules and crossing boundaries to do what she thought was good! I'm really curious what was going through her head as the future was laid out before her; did she truly not see how different her future was from what she hoped for? was she in denial? did she just assume that being a cop would mean she was still protecting people? or perhaps adult Choko put some sort of veil up so that her past self wouldn't know what she saw. regardless, this comic hit hard, and the central conflict of Xiba feeling like she had to defend herself from a CHILD, while that child seemed more committed to fulfilling her dreams than listening to her teacher—the whole thing was really heart wrenching! bravo and I hope you enjoy a rest after working so hard this tournament!!!
