Finally getting around to commenting here, but I've already read through both of these comics a couple of times already, lol. Everybody here did an absolutely phenomenal job!! Win or lose, all of you should be immensely proud of yourselves :]

A lot of other people here have already stated a lot of what's on my mind as well, so I'll try to keep this comment short.

Defenders: A HUNDRED PAGES?? MY GOD. Absolutely incredible work, you guys! You managed to pull together such a hopeful and optimistic story with such high quality art. Making everything color-coded not only helped save a decent amount of time, but it tied into the rainbow imagery towards the end very strongly. Also, having music be the threat's major weakness manages to make the whole thing feel like a nice mix between exciting and campy. The song choice you guys made is an absolute BANGER too - I've listened to it more times than I'm willing to admit, lol. Congrats on the win!

Threat: Pumping out a whole ass 60 pages for a team of two, especially with such polished art! I'm a lot more obsessed with the color choices here than I should be, lol. There's just something about the oranges and purples that calls to me (which is honestly pretty fitting). The way that Lumikki just melted her daughters was so unbelievably metal that I can already tell it's gonna stick with me for a long time. Seeing some of her backstory left me wanting to know more, too - I'm excited to see what you have cooking up for her in the works!

It's been an honour fighting you all and I can't wait to see what else comes of this, whatever it may be, you totally earned this victory.

I am over the moon, to see this team come together and be able to create such a fun and character driven story.

I really do love the writing and the few times that the styles switched up giving it a fun shake-up. Also the interaction between the defenders and how the team comes together is super fun to read and shows the power of the story telling on this entry. Also the amount of experimentation shows off the creativity of the comic. Also I want to highlight the use of the song within the comic and honestly it brings a tear to my eye knowing how amazingly awesome it was implemented!!!

Y'all did Amazing and no matter the outcome, you should be happy with what you were able to give. I want to thank you for your efforts and for this great story you have given the community.

This threat did not disappoint. The Quality and Craftsmanship of this comic is really at another level.

The Colors, the lineart, and the backgrounds are just something to behold. I'm quite impress of the amount of pages you two did and it really shows how well of a team you are with just how this comic came out.

I just want to thank you for agreeing to take part in our Event and know that your efforts are very much appreciated amongst the community and Void as a whole!

Welp, the time has come...

What can I say that hasn't already been said. This was definitely a once in a lifetime experience, and while I might carry a few regrets or thoughts of what I could have done differently, the end result was still greatly satisfying. It should be obvious by now, but this whole journey would not have been the same if even a single member of the team were to be absent. No one would be able to replicate the magic and miracles that we managed pull off in those last few days as a team. All through sheer hard work and dedication. I've already said this multiple times but it bares repeating, we should feel proud of what we achieved here. Win or Lose, it was an honor working with you all!

Hopefully, it won't be the last time.

The same sentiment goes for the Threat Team. We might've completed over a hundred pages as a team of 6, but you both made more than half of that and to a great deal of polish for most pages. Sure, there might've been some dips here and there, but the piece overall exceeds what I would consider doable with such a limited work force. Your artistic talent deserves recognition, along with the great passion I know you both hold for everything you create. And while I HATE that you made us draw a fuck ton of crystals, the Threat design was a treat to fight and write with. Just like I told my teammates, Jcee and Goldie, you should feel extremely proud of what you were able to put forward. It was an honor to face against you, as we become part of Void history.

As for the rest of the community, thank you immensely for taking the time to read and enjoy the stories we put forward. Frankly, the fact that there's people out there that are happy to consume and engage with the content I put out can sometimes feel so alien to me. Believe me when I say that I do not take any of it for granted, and will always be thankful for all of you! Thank you for all the comments, opinions, and support you take the time to provide! Truly!

Finally, one last heartfelt thank you to my younger brother, Adrian, who by pure chance introduced me to the band Frost* a couple of weeks before Armageddon began. This not only resulted in me getting a bunch of songs that I could add to the playlists I use to work and concentrate, but delivered me onto the titular song that was so fittingly chosen for the finale. As far as I'm concerned, that ended up being as much of a vital part of the process as the act of drawing itself. Thank you little bro!

Thank you everyone for the comments, it means a lot, really I'm so happy to see that the community here is thriving and coming up with new and cool ideas. We are in the last hours of voting and I want to share with everyone what I'm thankful to my team for:

Batty – Your colors are craaaaaazy good. I still can’t believe the level of polish you kept up, even when pushing through 10 pages a day at the end. From brilliant ideas like the rainbow-colored souls to flawless execution — coloring was easily one of the strongest aspects of the entire project. And on top of that, thank you so much for proofreading everything. You seriously saved us more than once.

Selevan – I loved your compositions and inking. The detail you add really elevates the storytelling — like the burning skull of Mythra in that rage scene after getting caught? Pure fire. And the final scene with Lumikki’s destruction? Incredible. Also, major respect for stepping up with thumbnails and pencils too. You crushed it.

Jelly – From the BEAUTIFUL van and sister weapon designs, to Keito’s guitar and hoverboard — everything you touched had personality and polish. Your inks and pencils were so tight and well-finished, it honestly pushed me to keep working on the 3D assets based on your drawings. That alone should tell you how inspiring your work was.

Rantu – What can I say that I haven’t already told you? Your action sequences are next-level. The way you visualize and frame movement pulls you right into the action — and, more importantly, it’s always easy to follow. That’s not a small thing, especially when even big-name comics and animations struggle with it. You nailed that balance perfectly.

Itizjr – You came up with some really clever and dynamic page layouts. That side-by-side shot of Titanium and Rose after the attack, those four mid-page panels, and the arrow rain during Rose’s assault on Jade Town — all of it was super memorable. Also, your paneling during Theakon vs. Titanium was chef’s kiss. And the expressions — funny, sharp, and full of character. Great job, man. Seriously — thank you all.

This comic became something special because each of you brought your best, and it shows in every page.

And to Jcee and Goldie! Thank you for creating such a fun and memorable comic and Threat, Lumikki and her daughters were a blast to fight against. And I know no matter which side wins we are still gonna see more of them in someway or another.

Again, thank you everyone for taking part of your time to read and comment even if it was something short (I always say that there is no shame in writing short comments). Be prepared for what comes next! We are cooking something up.

DEFENDER:

Over 100 pages!!! Right off the bat, that's a massive accomplishment. Not only is your comic really long, but the writing feels very efficient, with many scenes having multiple purposes. For example, Mythra's dream both serves as a fun way to pay respects to previous threats, while also hyping up the imminent danger of the current one. (I really liked this intro!) Also, the sequence with the mom crystallizing functions both as a way to set the tone and danger of the threat while also introducing Serath and weaving her into the rest of the defender team, which may have been a challenge otherwise as her motivations are pretty different from the rest of the defenders.

Art-wise, I think the limited color palette was a wise choice. It looks good, and also presumably was a great time-saver. The characters all look great across the board. I saw your behind-the-scenes shots of 3D models that were used during the production of this comic and I think that was a great idea too, the vehicles and weapons looks incredibly consistent and clean! My only notes here are that the fight scenes tend to lose clarity, mostly in terms of backgrounds. I got a little lost in the fight with the daughters when Mythra is being saved. It's admittedly a tough task, since everything should be crystallized, so locations tend to blend together. Maybe some more landmark crystals (Aside from Mythra's prison) would help establish locations.

I think your ending is the most inspired part of the entire comic. The song you used is a really great pick-- How you managed to find a song that both matches the tempo of your finale AND references a Void is beyond me! Maybe this is just me being sentimental, but the song choice and the way the finale utilizes the crystallized souls of trapped void denizens feels very united, like a nod to the community. It's grand, it's creative, it's emotionally driven, and a perfect finale to this massive story. I think I'll be remembering this scene for quite a while. (Also, wild coincidence that Resonance also used music as a solution! Same Brain!) My final note here is that the ending feels a little abrupt, I would have loved to see an epilogue fit in somehow. I think one of you mentioned you had ideas for how this arma impacts the void setting and I want to see your vision! Guess you'll just all have to make another comic ;)

From what I've been seeing here in the comments section, it sounds like defender team had a fantastic (if sleepless) time drawing this, and that shows in the final work you've made. I think you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. 100 pages for 6 people is no small feat and your comic is creative and inspired. Now go get some sleep!

THREAT:

The art is absolutely fantastic here! You two clearly make a very powerful team. Visually, I really like the backgrounds in this comic in particular. I'm very interested in the Lumikki lore shown here, brief as it was. Even though I'd really love to see more, I think it was wise that you only included a little snippet of backstory in this comic, considering the time limit. I also was surprised to see the daughters be featured so heavily, but seeing as how they are so closely related to Lumikki herself, I think learning about the daughters gives us a glimpse into the Mother as well, in how they talk about her and seemingly both fear and revere her.

Speaking of the daughters, their deaths were BRUTAL. Easily my favorite part of the comic, the way they melt feels so visceral and violent, and when compared to the Perfect and Beautiful aesthetic of the threat, that contrast really makes it stand out. On a second read, also, I noticed a clever piece of foreshadowing. The line "Can't have you cutting your limbs off" directly leading into a panel of Serath very much seems to hint at her fate in this comic... and in the next page, it's swiftly played off as a subject change! Very fun writing there.

I think it's unfortunate that the reveal of Lumikki's kaiju form is where we also get a noticeable dip in quality. These pages lose a fair deal of clarity and I get a little lost in this fight scene due to that. Though this is clearly a result of deadline woes, I think important "reveal" pages like this should be focused on as early as possible, for the sake of clarity.

All in all, you've made for a memorable and wonderful threat. I really like the scars you've given to the defender team in this comic and I think the crystal theme has been incredibly fun and unique, with a very intimidating villain behind it. Your setup in the threat's intro comic was Perfect and I think you followed through here in a fantastic way. I hope that you are both proud of your achievements in this comic!

Here I am at the 11th hour finally sitting down to comment on this thing officially. To my teammates, it's been a Hell of a ride. We knuckled down, we got it done, we kicked some ass, and even now I'm getting emotional thinking about it. Ran and Rockman, you two were the backbone of this whole venture. Within an hour of the selection announcement we had a server, we had a Google doc set up and we were down to business. In the arma channel on the discord server, I remember there was some talk of project managers and how important they can be to collaborations like this, and you two rose to the occasion tremendously. Managing to keep us moving and on pace but never making me or anyone else feel unheard or ignored. And Ran, you were an absolute thumbnailing machine and even at small scale your compositions are perfect. Drawing overthem was an absolute blast and, were time it a factor, I would have loved to do even more of them. Rockman, as the project went on you were placed into a position I don't envy: trying to get everything organized and sorted into place in the face of a multitude of different artists working in very different ways amd formats. I'm sure the way we ended up having to manage our page files was unorthodox for most collab projects, but in our particular situation I can't think of another way we could have done it, and I have, in fact, tried. You made it work, and your contributions to this project cannot be overstated, and I haven't even gotten into your amazing effects or the 3D models. JR, you mentioned in our group chat that you wish you had done more, but I still hold to it that you did plenty. You knew what you wanted to do and you went right to work as soon as the drawing process started. The first pages that got done on this project were done by you, and even though you weren't able to contribute for the whole drawing period, your ability to dive in fast and hard absolutely contributed to our ability to get this comic done on time. And as soon as you were able to again, your nose was right back to the grindstone. Batty, we were supposed to be partners in crime Inking this bad boy, but the best laid plans of mice and men, ya know? But in the end, your decision to try a new coloring method made this comic possible. It's not where you expected to be, but it's where you were needed, your adaptability and optimism are commendable. Selevan, I think you ended up wearing the most hats out of anyone, starting off on the thumbnails team, then switching to the inking team, and then at the end helping the coloring team. And you were absolutely cranking some of those pages out near the end there. I also don't envy you being in a completely different time zone than the rest of the team, but in all fairness most of our sleep cycles were fucked enough by the end of it that I'm not sure it made much difference by the end of it all.

I am immensely proud of the work we put in, and that I had the chance to be part of it. More than anything, I commend the optimism of this team. We planned for the worst but we never stopped striving for the best and never lost faith that we could reach the finish line, and we have a 104 page monolith of a comic to show for it. Watching this whole thing come together is an experience I don't think I'll ever forget amd I thank you all for your effort and your spirit and most of all I thank you for having me.

JCee and Goldie, thank you both for an incredible battle and for your amazing comic. My original intent was to dive into it in the typical void fashion, and supply my usual commentary, but after writing out everything I just did, I think right now I'd rather just congratulate you two on facing your own trials and tribulations and making it to the other side. I hope you're proud of

what you've done here

ok retrospective after reading the other comments.

You can tell who has a favorite based on who they thought got cut short by the plot. I hope you can tell in my review that I enjoyed all the defenders equally! (except for Mob. he's baby girl.) Also, people like Pyras who were were for prior Armas saw the DEFENDER intro as 'hype' while others who weren't invested in those events see it as weird filler. Perosnally, I don't understand what Mythra is talking about most the time in the DEFENDER side, but she makes perfect sense in the THREAT side, which is kinda sad. but gonna have to agree with Pyras that the daughters were not fully utilized in a productive way by either side.

And then for the art, it's interesting to see everyone's takes on the 'dips' in quality. but as someone who spent the past 6 weeks getting ready to make and sell stuff at cons instead of doing a comic game for free, I simply cannot be bothered by the fact that everyone looked like they were just having FUN for once! I know I used to think that mattered, but seems like every time one of the big events happens, someone lands themself in the hospital or goes on permanent art hiatus. not worth it, man.

And I'm proud that I can appreciate the 'trad' art on the defender's side. The Jelly pencils are really graphite paintings. I think it would be wonderful to see anyone who colored those graphite renders work with Jelly again and see how those can be developed. I can see Rantu's art and I think he was trying to meet Jelly half-way- I know he did ALL the thumbs, so it would have been noice to see everyone work together to try to find a coherent chalky, graphitey render style to pull from. Or maybe I just think that sounds easy because I know how to do it heh.

Pyras does have a unique perspective on this event and his opinions are pretty valuable.

It's hard to realize Lumiki in the defenders side is a plot twist, when almost all readers, in the spirit of the game, are already aware of her and maybe already read the Lumiki side of the battle. but even without the void cultureTM, a good twist needs to be hinted at. probably two or three times, if the 6th Sense 1999 is a good model. absolutely it would have made sense to have Mythra see 5 gems in her intro vision, even if she didn't share this information with her friends, just so the reader might have a hint.

Pyras is right and wrong about the daughters. There is something about the defender's side that isn't building up lumiki quite right. but it's not like the daughters/lumiki page count balance is off. I think one simple change could have fixed this. show Lumiki smelting that first daughter and have her sisters rise to her defense or fight back. the smallest sign of resistance. I thought this was where we were going with the yellow daughter. she could have begged for her life like 'no, don't make me forget again'! something to show that Lumiki couldn't be reached by emotional plea NOR by a show of strength. I think the defender art team was trying to show the daughters getting absolutely WRECKED as a sign of honor as is tradition; but the threat team was superior in this. unbeatable in the spectacle of guro. Maybe they wanted to keep things camp, maybe it was a skill issue, maybe they are like me and when it came time to go hard Thought Crimes, they chickened out.

When threat character sheet was revealed, I honestly thought the obvious choice was do what the threats did last Arma and have one of the pretty giant women switch sides. Maybe the defenders felt like they couldn't do that without copying last Arma, or maybe it just didn't feel right for the defender team characters.

one more thing about the defender's art: I think the ruined cityscape just feels so much more lived in for all its grittyness. The crystals shouldn't always look clean and perfect. they should look like a natural disaster like on 6+7. just the visual storytelling of everyone living their lives when suddenly they get HIT. and the way Mob survived and how easily it could have been him. and of course, the usual lovableness of him not realizing why he lived XD very heightened dark comedy, peaking when he eats someone's finger. what should be a one-note 'druggy' character is utilized so well in just these two pages to prop up the rest of the world building and show the stakes. ok hand emoji chef kiss patcha emoji. oh and the way Rantu was worried about him. that all had build up and pay off throughout the story, like I LOVED the reveal that Mob actually feels pretty lonely :( and I already said it, but it was so nice to see him make kinda-friends with Seraph for that!

I know it's a booboo no no to compare sides directly, but I didn't get the sense that anyone cared about ANYONE in the threat side. Except the one daughter who flirted with Mob. Im on team 'wait, Mob FUCKS?!' here but I thought we were going somewhere with that attachment. But Lumiki: does she feel any kind of way about anything? and I think Pyras brought this up a bit, but what even IS 'perfection' in this world? I'm on team 'maybe the epilogue will explain this' but very strange choices all around if so. so just a snager opinion. snion. going forwards: remember to make your characters want something so much, the audience kind of wants it FOR them. even if its that last bottle of a discontinued soda held in hyper space refrigeration. then, if they don't get what they want, THEN you show them getting absolutely wrecked.

do I know this? yes. do I do it? sometimes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Defenders: That was a TON of work, I can tell. Your story has so much humanity breathed into it. All the little background characters like the dog family and the worm mages, I loved them. You knew the threat needed some vulnerability because emotional pull is what Rantu's powers are all about. And you knew you needed to give Mob and Serath a reason to fight and VERY cleverly got Serath to talk herself into it! Their relationship felt very organic and the pay-off at the end having Mob save Serath felt natural because of it. Rantu being besties with Mythra and their powers being compatible was a nice touch I believed in, too. But I don't believe Zombies are immune to Lumiki's powers, And Rantu being immune didn't have a need in the story, either. Only wish Theakon had had some development, but other than that The whole team had good chemistry. especially that last page. when rantu's shirt exploded off him. and Mob only wanted the drugs. but then Keito helped Rantu up. Choice.

Art: I think you would have been good to just do that nice technicolor Batty overlay on all Jelly-style pencils. It actually looks nice and neat for such quick turnaround. the pages with hard black inks kind of look stiff by comparison. Then again, having three different concurrent fight scenes in three different art styles was probably a deliberate choice.

Said it before but i loved the lyric stuck so much. normalize lyric stucks.

threat side: the art is beautiful to look at and the characters all look like they belong in the same world together, and everything is very sharp and consistent.

The writing is bleak. I'm not rooting for anyone. The defenders tell each other they're rescuing people, but we never see any refugees or other survivors, so it feels like the defenders are the last of us. Lumiki smelts her kids and lets the defenders believe they're gone forever. I read this side first, so I know the subtext is that she can make them again. The smelting scene was METAL but my favorite was Rantu getting his head ripped off. There's something so humble about depicting your opponent getting just absolutely fucked up. however, violence without vested interest in a character's survival is just spectacle. I do enjoy the blood-triggered flashback to Lumiki's origin story: I expected as much would be revealed. But the defenders never get to use this new information to their advantage when it arrives.

craftsmanship wise, i don't know if there's a page missing between 44-45, but wasn't Mob driving before and now Keito is? Also the arrival of monster kaiju Lumiki seemed abrupt, and this is where the art starts to look rush fee bonus. still stylistically consistent though. definitely not the POLISH and perfection of the early pages Before the Defenders were Introduced.

I love LOVE the characterization and voice of all the characters, though! Esp. for Mythra, the way she talks suits her so well! Very charming.

also thankyou for drawing Peebo in the map, made my day ;w;

That was a blast to read! I think this was the most perfect teamup to go against Lumikki.

This was an amazing story and those where some of the best drawn action sequences I’ve seen. Great job on those! Starting on arouund page 72 or so i noticed those pencils looked super pro and great and the coloring effects were cool throughout. I can tell everyone put everything the got into this and it paid off.

I just finished reading both comics and WOW LIKE I don’t even know where to start because there is so much good stuff everywhere! I really loved everything, seriously, both teams did an amazing job and it shows how much love and hard work went into this wahhhhhhh! I kinda typed these out in the heat of the moment so I apologize if im scrambled but i refuse to edit or filter this:

DEFENDERS:

104 PAGES??? SO MUCH EFFING COMIC!!! Despite the length, ya'll didn't spare any crumbs with story and content....I loved how you introduced all the characters! everyone felt so real and important! ! Mythra had such a COOL INTROOO! EHHHHH I LOVE HERRR!! And MOB was also great! His moments made me really invested in him,, Serath was super cool and tough and was such a good compliment to the team tooo (I admit, I didn't know much about her before reading this and now im obssessed wtf,,, yes i support women's wrongs) !! Also, the way you showed everyone working together with their different skills( like Keito’s music), made the whole group feel like a real team! The action scenes were so fun and easy to follow, and the song during the big fight was just perfect when it all matched!AMAZING climax with the animated page, was not expecting that. SICK. I got so excited during every fight scene. ALSO SICK ARM TOSS RANTU HEYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Theakon's fight scene moments were also so cool,, also obsessed w his design so i might be biased.... The ending made me feel like....... wow, this was such a journey and I want to read it again to catch everything I missed!! LOVE the choice of color pallet shared between everyone's part. That dark inky lineart choice mixed with the colors just made every drawing pop. AWESOME STUFF !

THREAT:

OH MY GOSH! you guys made such a pretty and powerful story here AJJJJJJHHHHHH! The warm colors and those crystal effects made everything look magical and kind of spooky too!! Very cohesive teamwork btww!! Im echoing others when I say that your styles mesh SO WELLL! I DUG IT SO HARD!!! Lumikki’s story was SO COOL, especially how you showed her before and after making the crystal pact — that transition was SO SOSOSOSO COOL and made me feel things I wasn’t expecting. like srsly someone needs to check on me tf . .. The BEEG form was HUGE and crazy and I could not stop staring at those pages. The way you made Lumikki and her daughters feel connected but also unique in their own ways made the whole story SO RICH!. And the way the daughters had their own moments too,,, SO EXCITING!! I WAS FED!! The cosmic horror mixed with the personal story of Lumikki’s backstory gave it a deep feeling, like there is so much more to her that I want to know about..... The ending felt mysterious and powerful, like, even though the battle was over, the story is still alive in my head. The art was SO clean and detailed and the crystal glow everywhere was just gorgeous!!Page 41 was especially sick, amazing detail and perspective, gonna download and save that one forever, The way the story and art worked together made me want to keep looking at every panel again and again!!!! This probably beats some kind of world record for how many crystals can be drawn in a single comic WOW HEHHEHEHE.

BOTH:

Both sides together made this whole event feel huge and special! I loved how the defenders showed this team coming together with LOTS OF VARIETY of personalities and skills, and the threat side gave us such a cool villain who is EFFING SCARY but also felt very very real with her feelings n history. The daughters being kinda in the middle made the story so full of energy and action, and both teams made sure everyone got their moments to shine. The combos of styles and colors were SICK to see side by side!! I think this made the story on both sides rlly balanced and interesting.

I’m just so impressed and happy that these were made and finished! Everyone involved should be proud of this!! I wanna say THANK YOU to both teams for making something so special and fun to read. heehehhe, loved it! <3

The artwork was absolutely beautiful in this, and the Threat's designs were very magical girl (which I love)! The story was very straight forward and had some very touching moments and I wish we could have seen even more of Lumikki's backstory. The limited palette that was used was really nice and probably helped with time management. The interactions between the daughters and the defenders were fun, Lumikki devouring her own daughters was horrifying! I wish we could have seen a bit more of a fight after Lumikki had turned into a kaiju, but the scenes after she'd realized she'd been defeated were stunning, her becoming a crystal landmark in the sands felt like a beautiful tragedy.

The quality did dip a bit into the comic, while it was noticeable, it didn't really take me out of the story. I did want to see more story in the comic and not just a fight with some exposition slotted in because I wanted to know more about the Threat herself (though the fight scenes are gorgeous, I just felt a tiny bit empty).

Your styles worked so well together, and the Threat is a perfect combination aesthetically for you both;nice work on this comic!

This was such a good comic! The variety of styles is so fun, and I can see where the defenders had fun drawing the scenes too. The story was explained well and had some really awesome scenes. The text and SFX were easy to read and amplified the comic, which is always an important asset to a comic. The ending did feel abrupt, but also makes me anticipate what happens to the defenders afterward and how other people could interpret it!

There were two things that I found issue with in the comic, but I won't go too into detail with them. The first was Theakon's fight with Titanium. The fight felt almost comedic and disrespectful to the opponent to me. The second has already been mentioned by Franken, and it's that Mythra and Rantu take so much of the spotlight away from the other characters. It kind of almost felt like Mythra could have single-handedly dealt with the threat.

I really enjoyed this comic though, and I can see how much effort and time went into it! Nice work!

There were so many panels that hit hard and stuck in my mind.

Hoping we'll get to see epilogues for everyone cause I'd love to know how theycontinue on after facing the Arma threat and how it's changed them!

This was sucha fantastic read on both ends!! I had a live reading with a couple of friends, and the entire ride was sucha joy. Thank you so much for the fact that yall do with for FREE!! The passion in both comics cannot be understated, and I'm relieved to see everyone make it till the end. Seeing as I have friends on both sides, I wanna make it clear I'm being unbiased on both sides and I'm not holding back! >:)

---------

For praises and crits, I'll address for the Threat first;

I'll parrot others in saying that Lumikki is sucha perfect lovechild between the two artists working on her. And the harmony between both art styles perfectly sells the vision of what you both wanted for her and her daughters. Excellence. Although there were plenty of dips in quality thanks to time constraints, this is still a very pretty comic. The story captivated my attention from start to a very strong finish.

As far as critiques, I do have a few gripes. Although I am a very huge fan of homages and references, I feel that too much was taken from the source material. Even without being told this was a Sailor Moon inspired villain, I could see how closely Sailor Moon R movie's villain was used for this. From the extremely similar backstory ( without a love interest ), to the alien flower seducing her, summoning minions to do her bidding, and the need to feed the flower energy from other planets. I felt that the most original part of Lumikki's story was her kaiju form and ending. Which of course, I am obsessed over. The sleeping giant aspect was an amazing turn-around. I would just have liked to see a more original spin on her story itself, like expanding on her abuses and trauma's that were triggered.

That aside, the dips in quality as mentioned are another thing to be mentioned. Both sides have had their difficulties in time constraints, but with such a beautiful comic with very polished art styles, it comes off as more apparent. My only other critiques are a few nitpicks. Like the defenders personalities feeling more one-note in the writing, compressed almost, with some character traits I've never seen. Example; Mob being particularly "pervy" around the monster girls. But it's very miniscule, since the focus is to be Lumikki

Regardless of my crits, I have to reiterate that I adored the Threats side and Rupaul- I mean Lumikki

---------

For the Defenders; I knew with Rockman and Ran2 being on the writing team, the story was gonna be a good one. There's so much potential with this ragtag team of imperfect, scrappy, and just comical crew. Especially so when going against a being like Lumikki. And you guys didn't disappoint; from the dialogue, to the action, to the spectacular ending. The art was a hit in several points, but even with the misses, I had a great time.

For the critiques, I also have a couple things I picked up on. I'll get the obvious out of the way, and its the dips in page quality. Of course, I give grace because of time constraints, and its a lot harder when working in such a large team. There's also the fact that there's 3 traditionalist's on the team, and many members with varying skill levels, which causes the hat tossing in what to do later even more chaotic. But I have to admit that its easier to laugh and point out the humor in some rushed segments when the writing itself is comedic. Especially when the team fits the artstyle. Characters like these drawn in sucha scrungley way passes off so much easier when you have a rat, a muscled giant with hair for eyes, a meth-head, and a walking corpse on the page. So its a matter of perspective, but regardless its something I have to clock you guys on.

The other is that the dialogue was excessive in some points. I'll be specific, just SOME. I have to admit I wasn't fully hooked in in the beginning with the amount of exposition. I'm more of a "show" not "tell", but after that intro I was slowly but surely gripped. The amount of dialogue after was thoroughly enjoyable, especially when we got to explore character arcs. Although, another gripe is that I felt more character arcs got explored than others. Theakon and Mob felt greatly sidelined to me, while Rantu and Mythra felt like the stars of the show. Yes, they had their moments for vengeance and a good reveal on abilities but it felt like just a taste compared to what the others had going on.

And despite how much I loved the ending, it did feel abrupt. During the live reading we were audibly going "that cant be it-" "where's the rest of it-?" before realizing the ride was over. I love it, I feel it was still a good close regardless of how sudden it felt, but its something I felt that should still be said.

---------

All and all, both sides should be incredibly proud of what they've accomplished. I know a lot of people on either side were waiting for their chance at Arma, and you really made something of yourselves with the opportunity. I hope you're all resting as you should!!

Replying to Py's comment:

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback! I’d like to offer a few counterpoints to the two “obstacles” you mentioned—just to share my perspective and some of the reasoning behind certain choices:

1- Regarding the dip in visual consistency and scene assignments:

You pointed out how some pages felt like they needed more time, and mentioned that certain artists could’ve been assigned more strategically to specific scenes. The thing is—you already acknowledged the time crunch and the fact that this team hadn’t worked together before. Given that, I’m not entirely sure why this became such a focal point of critique. Midway through, it became clear that sticking to the original assignments would’ve left us with some fully polished scenes and others barely past sketch phase. So we made changes on the fly. That’s just the nature of Arma production—and given the circumstances, I think we made the right call.

2- On the absence of Lumikki and her threat level:,

This one I find a little odd, because the central threat was clearly established as Lumikki and her daughters—that’s how we framed it from the beginning. The daughters weren’t side henchmen; they were equally important antagonists with unique roles and development. Characters like Titanium and Rose were never meant to be sidelined in favor of Lumikki; they were the threat ensemble. As for Lumikki not being terrifying—well, I’d argue that may have been a misread. There’s a clear shift in tone when she arrives. Titanium’s line about her checking on them instantly causes tension, with all the daughters reacting in fear. That should clue the reader in to her power and status. You can also see the difference in the characters' facial expressions when she’s mentioned or appears; those reactions weren’t there when facing the daughters. That escalating dread was intentional.

3- Wanting “more time” with Lumikki over her daughters:

Again, totally fair as a personal opinion—but it’s not something I personally agree with. I feel Lumikki’s reveal worked because she wasn’t front and center until the end. She's an intergalactic threat that has been so ruthless and thorough in her conquest that anyone who met her face to face didn't survive to tell the tale, which made her sudden appearance more effective. That “last boss” energy hits harder when it’s an obstacle the defenders didn't account for.

4- The lack of an epilogue:,

You mentioned wanting to see the aftermath, and that’s a usual Arma tradition. Is it set in stone? Is it required? Genuinely asking, because I’m not sure. What I can say is—we did discuss adding an epilogue, and we do have plans for it. That part of the story just hasn’t been released yet. So stay tuned.

5- On "Usually the team that wins is the team that writes the Threat more interestingly"

That’s an interesting take—and I appreciate that you’ve been observing Arma trends for a long time—but I’d like to offer a different perspective on this.

You mention that the most successful Arma comics are the ones that make the Threat the most interesting, and that in our case, the daughters ended up being more of a hindrance than a help, stealing time and focus from Lumikki. But I think that’s only true if you believe Lumikki alone was “the star of the show.”

From our end, that wasn’t the story we wanted to tell. Lumikki and her daughters were the Threat—equally important, narratively and thematically. They weren’t meant to be filler or roadblocks on the way to the “main boss.” They were fully realized antagonists with their own voices, personalities, and arcs. The emotional payoff of the final confrontation wouldn’t have landed the same if we hadn’t spent that time building them up.

And it wasn’t just the characters. The crystals themselves—first passively expanding, then later actively consuming and threatening the region—were another layer of that looming danger. Even when Lumikki wasn’t physically present, her influence was, reshaping the world and pushing everything toward collapse. That creeping escalation was part of the tension, and part of what made her eventual arrival feel earned and impactful.

Now, could we have written a story that made Lumikki more central from the start? Sure. But that wasn’t our direction. Instead, we wanted her looming in the background—this elusive, terrifying force only spoken about in hushed tones until she finally arrives. That delay was intentional. Her presence is felt even when she isn’t on the page. And when she does enter the story, it shifts everything. That wouldn’t have had the same weight if we’d front-loaded her backstory or reduced the daughters’ role.

That said, I totally get preferring more Lumikki lore over individual daughter battles—that’s a fair personal preference. But for us, telling a story where the daughters weren’t just extensions of the Threat, but essential parts of it—alongside a world that was actively unraveling—was a choice made with care. And judging by how much personality and tension they brought to the conflict, I’d say that gamble paid off.

Giving my train of thoughts as I read y'all's side!

Okay so first off, I love the use of old Arma threats to set the tone of the comic.

There's something thematic about how many textured inks and raw pencils are in this comic. Like seeing the brush strokes in a piece of art is better than "perfection." Y'all are so good at making art look good without such a high level of polish and refinement, which feels very fitting for this battle!

The colors in this comic are so fucking good I am in love!!! Y'all are so smart with how you used them strategically to help distinguish between characters, draw the eye where it needs to focus, and set the mood for each scene.

I got so sucked into the story I forgot to keep writing my thoughts XD This comic was amazing!!! Definitely some spots where the art was rougher than others, but everything came together SO nicely! I loved how every character got a chance to really shine, how they all had their own motivations and goals that just so happened to align against this existence-ending threat. The ending was SO COOL, and reading it while listening to the song you linked elevated the experience so much. And I'm such a sucker for the whole spirit bomb vibe of everybody's soul energy rising up in a big rainbow (as a gay I approve) to support Mythra and Rantu right when it seemed like they might not make it. Extremely cool, and also I feel like you wrote this comic for me personally with how the threat was defeated :3 Thanks for the great read, and I hope y'all are so fucking proud of what you've made together, win or lose!

congratulations to both teams on a stellar showing, rest and celebrate because you're all champions for hitting this point!

Disclaimer to both teams: Having run the Arma circuit thrice, I especially understand how the enemy that is time forces planned subplots and arcs back on the shelf, for some ideas to get truncated, for certain elements and quality control to suffer. Some of the things I bring up may be stuff that you guys already were thinking about when you submitted, things that you could have taken care of had you the time. I understand this even as I bring these points up, it is for the most comprehensive take I can give for both teams to present where I feel they succeeded and what slipped by, and none of it is a judgment on your mettle

---

DEFENDERS:

The first three pages do a fantastic job of hyping us up for the new Armageddon, and there is a good amount of time given to fleshing out the cast, each playing their parts expertly, kudos to the writers for building an enjoyable team and finding organic ways to group everyone up. Theakon probably suffered the most as far as development but he got his moments to shine in combat and aura plenty. Mythra was an absolute show-stealer, some of the best panels on page are with her (and it was clear one artist had a metric ton of fun drawing her iconic head). Mob had an enjoyable and satisfying arc, Serath made for a great foil to wrinkle the dynamic, Rantu and Keito did well leading the effort from different angles (Rantu’s last line is perfect)

I had every confidence given the team that you guys would bring about a great final act fight and you did not disappoint. The song use mostly worked! I stumbled a little with it once I found that the lyrics are timed with the panels, and I found myself having to wait in some points where instrumentation or the comic’s dialogue was keeping the song from staying in sync with the read. Syncing songs to comics so they work naturally is a very difficult task, I’ve only seen it work seamlessly once ever in Void. That said, when it was in sync it hit beautifully.

There are two things that were my biggest obstacles with the comic: The first being the roller-coaster rise and dip in quality from scene to scene. Truth be told, even some of the most complete pages, with the most immaculate pencils and lovely watercolor textures, did not feel finished because of color fills in place of real monochromatic shading and some other craftsmanship issues, in some pages more severe than others. Scene after scene that tell me as I read them, “this would have looked better with more time”, I also believe that a bit more strategic team dispatch for the scenes (such who is in charge in action scenes vs talking scenes based on artists’ specific talents; there are some members of this team that I think should have been strictly relegated to every hype moment scene) would have elevated the overall quality feel of the comic. Your team is one of the most diverse in strengths and styles that’s been seen in an Arma Defender team in a while, so I can’t imagine it was easy to try and sort this out. I don’t doubt you did your best and as is Arma production tradition everyone had to wear every hat by the end at some point; the effort is there even with all the blemishes and imperfections.

The second obstacle for me was the absence of Lumikki for most of the story. The daughters take up about 60-70% of the plot and this leads to a middle part of the story that feels a bit lost in focus as everyone is giving their all across multiple fights that, from first post, weren’t supposed to be such important battles vs the actual Threat, so by the time Lumikki finally enters the battle, there is not enough time to set her up as a threat of whom her daughters were merely a fraction of power born from. She is stronger than the daughters, but not terrifying, I didn’t get the sense of dread I was hoping for with her arrival onto the battle stage, I am guessing because of time running out and having to get to the song climax (which is still strong and a good recovery from this dip). As Lumikki is the one with the central billing I would have wanted more time with her vs her daughter-henchmen, especially because with what was shown you guys did have her character nailed so it would have been great to see even more of her before the climax.

A small nitpick: I would have also wanted some epilogue pages to really close out the book; part of the fun of an Arma comic is an opportunity to shift the Void status quo rather than just return to it. But even if returning to form is what you ultimately wanted (cool crystal scars aside), some pages of seeing order and true happiness restored with the region would have been great too given how involved the region is throughout the narrative, even with the crystallized citizens doing their part for the final blow.

This comic was a helluva lot of fun. It had humor, heart and hype (the 3 H’s for success), and a satisfying conclusion to the final battle, and with a team with such a varied set of skills and styles you had a hard road that you managed to cross together and you should be everproud of your accomplishment here.

---

THREAT:

Your obstacles are not enviable, being a smaller team having to introduce a brand new character to the audience and juggle six other characters you may not feel strong enough to write to their fullest extent. The Threat team’s core strength is unity from the start, easier to collaborate. When it comes to the quality aspect of your comic you both have an unmatched harmony with how well your skills and styles blend; this is a very, very pretty comic, and where are some incredibly drawn sequences here. For most of the comic the overall visual coherence and craftsmanship of the entry makes for a read that’s easy on the eyes (aside from the moments you successfully mean to shock us with cosmic horror). It is a shame that the climax seems to be where you guys had to start rushing/run out of steam, especially with the quality of the pages of kaiju Lumikki (fumbling the intro page for the form is unfortunate).

I generally expect the Threat team to have a harder time juggling the Defender fighters’ characters and personalities, you guys managed as well as you could, especially as they aren’t meant to be the main characters of your story: Lumikki is

And in that vein I was very excited to see a flashback of Lumikki’s origins, showing how she first found the crystal that empowered her. I was very, very excited to see a back and forth between the past and the present, showing how Lumikki rose to power, how her innocence was twisted and corrupted into the monster she became, juxtaposing moments of relatable flawed seduction to power and the ramifications of her actions. Sadly, this isn’t what we got as I wished for it; there is one more flashback-related moment that hints at dark aspects of her past that haunt her, but then that’s it, and I think not giving us more of the rise of Lumikki and how she became the star destroyer she is now also ends up hurting your ending, and the curious choice to have Lumikki lose. There is a lot said in the comic about the concept of perfection that isn’t explored enough with the characters, exploration that was needed to really sell the tragedy of Lumikki’s rise to infamy and presumably inevitable fall, a core character trait that threads from her origin to her present day that is her fatal flaw and results in her own end. I imagine that this might have been stuff cut for time, and if that is the case, I would love to see a beyond battle that explores Lumikki’s full backstory to give it the air it deserves.

Even though this comic was short it hit hard, it was great to see Lumikki be so perfection-obsessed that she would not bother waiting on her daughters to have drawn out battles, and one can tell there’s more going on under the surface. Congratulations again on being able to pull off this accomplishment even with all your trials and tribulations throughout production.

---

BOTH TEAMS:

I believe one of the keys of a winning Armageddon comic, from what I have observed over the past decade, is that regardless of quality, it goes to whoever writes the Threat more interestingly. I think both teams had a unique obstacle that most battles in the past didn’t have that hampered them; I think these daughters were ultimately more of a timesink hindrance than a help. They provided plenty of pages for fights, but there is only so much time to flesh each out, and even that can be counterproductive when the star of the show is supposed to be Lumikki. Had the Defender team spent less time with them I think Lumikki would have had a greater presence as a Threat (or if you want to flip the script and really make the story about the daughters instead of the mother, giving them the full arc), but also even though the Threat team did not overuse them, if I had to pick between various crystal daughter battles and Lumikki’s backstory, I would have preferred the latter.

---

I hope my critiques above don’t discourage any of you; this is a landmark on your comics journey to be proud of, something fantastic that you made together, so revel in that. I am excited to see more from you all.

This is just gonna be stream of consciousness as I read the comic:

GORGEOUS COMIC!!! Every page is so nice to look at ☺️

I love how Chapter 1 establishes the things we need to know most about these alien ladies: how the daughters feel about their work and their mother, and what caused Lumikki to become the way she is in the first place! The transition from her face right after making the pact with the crystal to her present-day face was 😚👌

Loving all the dynamics between the defenders, their different motivations, personalities, and skills are so fun to see!

FREAKING OUT AT THE GIANT MONSTER FORM HOLY SHIT!!!

This was really fun to read! I was hoping for an ending that resulted in total victory for the threat, but this ambiguous ending is really interesting... The threat is defeated, but perhaps not permanently? Intrigued and curious what plans y'all might have if you win this! As usual, Goldie and JCee make a great team together, and this was such a good comic! Win or lose, y'all did amazing and should be so proud of yourselves!!!

Absolutely gorgeous art. Every character looks incredibly good, the colors and inks are very clean and it makes everything look glassy-crystally which is extremely appropriate considering the threat's theme. The way the sisters interacted with each other was pretty nice and fun to look at. The backgrounds are so detailed and done with so much care too- The amount of crystals are insane!

The chapter covers and quotes are a very nice touch as well

Lumikki's origin and transformation was a really good touch in sympathizing and understanding her motivations. The character interactions and dialogue exchanges were fun to read. The paneling was fun and clear to follow, the action poses were delightful! The scene where Mob was being chased by one of the daughters in the background was such a funny and cute touch.

The only nitpick would be that I would have loved to see the daughters do more before they are all snuffed out. Although I really love how brutally it was portrayed. I am a bit surprised how Rantu was able to make Lumikki bleed when nothing else could, but her reaction was pretty sad and fun to see

Lumikki's kaiju form is absolutely CRAZYY I loved it! The ending was really cool and very foreboding. I love how she became a landmark. Beautiful work!

This was absolutely incredible holy shit. The plot was incredibly tenacious but you lot pulled it off beautifully.

I love how important the daughter's role was in the story as a whole before the thing happens. The daughters having front and center stage made it sm more impactful when Lumikki takes the reigns.

The character interactions felt super organic and natural. I really love how we can see the way the team got together in a way that makes lots of sense. The way they figure stuff out is so well-done! TO TOP IT OFF, MOB'S REVEAL WAS MIND-BLOWING HOLY SHITT!! I STARED AT THAT PANEL FOR SO LONG! I'm beyond excited to see what happens onward for it!

Every single character had their time to shine, Lumikki's daughter included, elevated the story and the comic as a whole so so much. They all playing on their strengths and working with something so unique to their character was a delight to read (Like Serath's weapons, Rantu's arm toss, Keito's music/tech). Mob being a "regular" guy and being scared felt so so human, so his bravery shines all the more when he shows up. His fear was so palpable and there were times were i was genuinely scared for him

Not to mention, the climax and ending was absolutely hype and it got me in the edge of my seat. It genuinely made me emotional with the choice of song playing for the entire scene. The action scenes were Godly- they were so easy to follow and every impact felt incredibly important and powerful.

Absolutely perfect ending, you guys did incredible and amazing

Threat Team: Thank you for such a wonderful battle! That title page is GORGEOUS, as are all of the crystal effects throughout. The golden/sunset tones were so gorgeous throughout, too; you two as a team always do such excellent eye candy and this was no exception.

The backstory reveal took me by total surprise! And tbh I really liked it, gave the whole thing even more of a cosmic horror vibe. Lumikki isn't even the big bad, it's something older, hungrier. -chef's kiss-

I ALSO really enjoyed the kaiju twist, didn't see that coming but she had such a rad design!! and DAMN Serath getting just fuckin crushed from the legs down, I love it hehehe. Loved Serath through all of this tbh! She's here for one thing and one thing only, and that thing is violence >:) Other highlights: Mythra's dialogue was fantastic, loved all of Theakon's action scenes, Mob was hilarious the whole time, loved Rantu's sassiness, and Keito was a certified badass :D Also I loved every second the Daughters were onscreen, and DAMN their death was hella brutal.

Thank you again, it was truly an honor.

Defenders: I'm gonna get a bit sappy here so strap in. I wasn't even really planning on entering this Arma until the Threat got revealed, and then it was so perfect for Serath that I couldn't resist. Never really expected to get in, but then I did, and I couldn't have asked for a better team. I would gladly work with each and every one of you again in a heartbeat (and I sincerely hope I do get the chance!!)

Jelly, your pencils are so fantastic and were an absolute blast to color. JR, your sketches were similarly super fun to ink, and I wish I'd gotten to ink more of them! I love the expressions you do, and Theakon is just so much fun as a character to draw. Selevan, your inks were also fantastic, and I had so much fun with that dream sequence you wrote/drew at the beginning! Ran2, you were a BEAST with the thumbs, and with the pencils at the end--not to mention the wonderful work you and Rockman did on the script. Speaking of!! Rockman! We couldn't have done it without you. Your paneling, lettering, and those effects really elevated the comic to a whole nother level!!

No matter who wins, all I can say is I'm super proud of us. This is by FAR the longest comic I've ever worked on, and while there were times we weren't sure if we could finish, in the end we did!! And our entry may not be perfect but it's ours and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd like to think I'm walking away from this with several new friends.

Also, Jelly, you can finally take your crystal quartz out of your closet now lmao
