Void Olympics : Round 1

Thank you for another match Pizzaman! Its always fun to fight you, and I’m glad I was able to do Buffy justice as that’s always my goal for my opponent 🤗 And thank you everyone for the comments on our comics, they mean a lot!

Wow Pizza, the cartoony craziness is off the charts with this one with Buffy putting themselves to sleep on the canvas was quite humorous. Story and writing are Great and the jokes were solid. Also using another great combat sport even makes me happy to see boxing being shown. You did really well and I hope to see more of Buffy Blueberry in the near future!

Goldie! Those Textures and compositions are just making my artist brain just go WOW! Swimming is a classic event and with how the excellent use of linework and varied angles was a great sight to behold. Also sharks falling outta the sky is so wild but oddly fits in a zany comic world like Void so it just fits! Great Story along with Great Action makes this one a super fun read and I hope that you had fun making this You did really well to highlight Crikey Dile's strengths and quick wits. I hope to see lots more in the near future!

I absolutely loved both of these comics! Goldie, your backgrounds are incredible, your sense of perspective is honestly insane, and the story was so creative! It's easily my favorite comic of the year so far! Pizza Man, your character expressions are always so good, and I loved the ‘prizes’ the winners get in these Olympics. That ending was hilarious pfft. Your comics never fail to get a laugh out of me!

This is amazing! I'm always impressed how you go all out for every battle it's truly inspiring! I really liked how you implemented Buffy's bad luck into your comic as it can also be read as "just another day in Void" which I thought was pretty dang clever. Buffy's overconfidence in his athletic ability was very on brand and I also didn't know that Raven can turn people invisible. That's enough rambling from me lol great work, tis always a pleasure to battle you! I hope if we fight again I'll be able to bring a similar energy!

GOLDIE- an amazing round 1, truly spectacular this is a gold medal award winning comic, from visuals to writing, this is a wonderful showcase of your amazing artist skills. PIZZAMAN- quite a fun and hilarious entry, I throughly enjoyed the hell out of this story, I especially enjoyed the twist ending with the hyper speed effect and surprising conclusion to this round.

Your comic was so funny! I love how unhinged Queen Void is 😂 I also loved the gag where the toons realize Simon's signs are completely readable by Crikey and he has to quickly try to recover. The expressions were really fun, and I love how you made good use of toon physics and tropes. Can't wait to see what's next!

I think it was a fun twist to have Crikey not actually be competing in this round, but instead have her work from the sidelines to protect the athletes so the show could go on! It was a fun subversion of expectations, and I loved seeing all the Valkyries and all the other cameos (I'm honored to be included so many times)! You've given me new ideas for round 2 if I make it and I'm excited to see what's next!

Your comic gave me a good chuckle XD Poor Buffy, he tried so hard and got so far but in the end it didn't even matter 😔 Your expressions are on point as well, adding the perfect comedic beats to the action! I really loved the effects you used for Buffy's Blast Off Mode too, though I think you could really punch up the effect by using the motion blur filter to blend the doubled lineart a bit, really giving it the feel of vibrating rapidly. It was really cool getting to see this side of Buffy though! I hope we get to see more of Buffy's Blastivex Problem hehe

Aaaaaa thank you for including both Jozzik and a dog! I really love the arena you've set up here, it's got so much potential for fun shenanigans!! also love the whole Sky Sharks thing, and the joke about Buffy's swimming at the end XDD The grayscale was really well done as well, though I couldn't help but notice that, due to the brush you used for the lines having a semi-transparent center, it led to there being spots of lighter/almost white which stood out. (disclaimer, this is a tad nitpicky lol but it did kinda stand out to me hence why I'm mentioning it) I assume this is possibly because you used the paint bucket tool to fill colors in? So the color never got under those areas, leaving them notably lighter. This is especially noticeable in areas near darker gray/black zones. I also kind of wish we'd gotten all the team names right off the bat, that was a fun detail that felt like it didn't get enough spotlight. Overall though! fantastic comic, fantastic grayscale, fantastic screentones! the pacing was really great as well, loved the zinger at the end with Buffy getting shocked XD

Absolutely loved the humor in this, and the effects for the after images were really well done! The style reminded me of Smiling Friends, I don't know if that was intentional or not, but it made me laugh. Nice work!

I love when characters get a very specific kind of comedic anime handsome for comedy scenes.

Buffy is going to become king of the pirates at this rate.
