All my battles have been digital, with the exception of my first one against Johnny Cool. I usually use a pencil brush that has a nice texture but I swapped it out for this tourney because it doesn't do solid lines well without a few masses over the lines and that takes too long when you're working onna deadline
late but copy paste from the discord:
WOW @MrPr1993 you made trapjaw look so cool!
however, agree with shen, ropopo was the correct pun and you missed it
sour salt's backstory made them so much more empathetic, too, so seeing tj just doing his job was enough to make him seem like a badguy without having to make him be evil. He lost his head at least twice in this round among this and the other comics, and that's the hivemind at work. I really liked the behind the scenes tid bit that main line Sugar Sweet has two loving dads as opposed to sour salt's cruel creators is just such a nice touch. and idk if anyone has said it but: I had misjudged you as someone who could only draw/design thirst trap characters and make horny art. but the way you clean up everyone's designs and then write the characters so well is humbling. YOU'RE VERY GOOD at character design clean up! WOW.
sir jelly: your pencils on paper always look so neat, i'm not sure why you used digital instead this time. or maybe it was always digital and i'm the jackass. you did get more inks out this time so maybe this is part of the learning curve and the rendering looks just as good and you didn't spend as much time on each render as usual, opting for better time management!
I'd say for writing, we don't know who any of those dead cops are, but TJ does, so those gore scenes just teach us that maybe he does feel a connection with his co-workers after all. it would have been ok imo to retcon TJ as an unfeeling jerk if the feeling he gets most is 'stop the bad guys' and a bad guy sour salt would have put him in his element. I'm sensing some cognitive dissonance with how you want your stories and art to go: from this story I can tell TJ was being heroic and even though you told me his face isn't supposed to be emotive, he does emote though. ;-; i'm not sure how to write you a crit when the art speaks for itself but the artist says they wanted the opposite.
anyway, I look forwards to seeing more of either TrapJaw or Keito from now on. it would still be sick to battle you some day ;w; when it isn't bonsai season anymore.
MRPR: This was a nice comic, lots of funky body horror in this one. How will Trapjaw even get his body back if you win???
Jelly: Yo, it really is a bummer that you're always at the mercy of a deadline because I love all your finished pages to bits and this would have been so cool to see completed if things were going 110% well for you. Seriously, man.
MRPR Oh i enjoyed seeing Sour's backstory and her obtaining trapjaw's head at the end. hope she gets good money for him
SirJelly! really fun action and shading on the panels that were finished. Some of the action was hard to read due to the unfinished nature of the comic but the parts that were finished had very clear sightlines and composition. Trapjaw always looks so intimidating and cool...
MRPR: I loved seeing Sour's backstory! It really helps her feel more fleshed out, and sympathetic. I did not expect to feel bad for her and yet I do, it's clear she's had a rough life.
Jelly: The pages that you got inked look really nice, and the ones that are just sketches still flow well! I like how you do action sequences.
