Kent: This comic is incredibly good entirely because Klepp goes blep.
It's perhaps a bit too much focused on Raygun over Klepp, but it establishes in 4 pages a really good split between his position in society and his reality that I find super interesting! The lining as always is super quality, and the jokes really hit. Great work! The "to be continued" seems a bit weird though, as much as pursuing Klepp might further develop Raygun's self-identity, because you've kind of done the same thing the last... two comics? And I don't really know how you planned on finishing them, outside of BBs (Granted the one in UNM was in UNM, and you lost that round, but it was more in the context of the tournament). This kiiiiiind of feels in the same boat.
Kent: I want more Raygun. The daily struggles of Kaiju/Roboarmed citizens need to be well documented. There was a a lot about the writing that really tickled my fancy. The progression of "Fuck" is a great illustration of how life can just get you down with a series of little things or realizations. overall, I was greatly amused by this comics writing from start to end!
I agree with the others about the blue color but you've already adressed that.
Desichan - DOH! YES I never caught that, the dialogue is supposed to be "Why DIDN'T you think I'd miss these", so thanks for catching that. I agree on the blue not being great. I always try for full color but fall short on time.
Shen - Agreed, I don't like the blue either the more I look at it. I really wanted to do full color, and this was my sort of base coat, but I wish I just left it black and white.
Wolfbaloo - Yeah the beer bottle definitely gave me problems! I'll practice drawing smashed things.
Something small to say since I tend to get anxiety for saying the wrong thing:
Really liked this comic. It sort of gives a reflection as to what Raygun was before the whole cosmetic surgeries. And how Klepp got his hands on a gun. Just keep working on aspects of how the body works, like how a claw would break a beer bottle. Not to sound mean: but a bottle being smashed from a massive claw hand would have done more than just scatter, it would leave parts of itself on the hand/claw. Maybe even lodge a piece of it to the meat of it. But I understand that it's sort of hard to get the hang of, so I'd encourage more practice on that. Other than that: pretty good stuff.
aw camel D=
Kent! I loved this oh man lol I love how bottom heavy you draw Klepp with his bag draggin around. Klepp's droppin all kinda bombs- truth bombs AND smoke bombs lol! This is actually an interesting start to a story I'd like to see more of! Poor raygun's had such a bad time lately! You did great in the art of integrating the characters with the background. I dont love the blue. Im not sure what i dont love about it but it throws me off. Otherwise though, great comic!
Mister Kent, that was a really neat comic, it had some really nice story telling, and it was pretty enjoyable to read! I think if I had one thing negative to say, it'd be that there was a bit of times where I was a tad bit confused with the dialogue. Klepp said "He'll never miss these." then Raygun later says, "What made you think I'd miss these?" It feels a tad inconsistent, and I'm left wondering if Raygun would miss the guns or not, if that makes sense. I think a lot of your art is really good in this! I think you could push yourself more with colors though, because the blue really doesn't add much of anything. I think if you experiment a bit more with values, you could make things pop a lot more! Overall though, your comic is really impressive!
this is my first default, and i must apologize - along with thanksgiving and what not, I also suffered from a fever, but I've learned that scheduling a comic willy-nilly is a risky thing to do. Regardless, I did enjoy your entry Kent, I love how you draw klepp and his backpack, and I wish i could've reciprocated.
I just wanna say thanks for letting me use your amazing character Camel - if Ray ever catches up with Klepp he's going to force him to join Danger Rangers
My strategy with this one was to keep tightening things up and practicing areas I struggle with. Backgrounds! Line widths! Detail! I also wanted to do color, and I still might do a Colorized Edition of this with extra stuff.
