Both of these were awesome reads! I loved all the buildup in Lady Vanity's story to the big fight and the storybook style as well. I laughed at Satin's reaction.
When I was reading Satin's comic I felt like I was reading a professional comic. The art, structure and story just all felt so professional! Well done!
Oh I wish I was around to give my votes to this match up. Epic work all around. These two really open up the floor to some really unique and engaging stories. Great work you two!
awesome!
jetster- I know you've sorta acknowledged this, but yea this looks pretty rushed to be honest. there's a lot of half hearted lookin drawings in there. it also seems to me that you're really trying to stylize, which isn't bad, but you may need a better grasp on fundamentals before it's successful. the different fonts with handwritten letters is pretty jarring as well, pick one font or hand write it all. I get the comic sans was a joke but it's not workin for me /: the storybook idea is cute though, and lol smegma princess
kura- lookin good! so good in fact I'm gonna have to be real nitpicky with you. I think hands are your weakest point. there's some okay ones in there, but a lot of awkward looking ones as well. everything else is kinda minor stuff (veronica's jacket appears to fit her like a tight shirt, weird head/face last panel page 2) so yea~
Thanks for the feedback guys :)
Atomic: Yeah the linework was pretty rushed towards the end, sorry about that.
The use of comic sans was a joke, as was the poor spelling and random 'lol's in his text, likewise with the leading etc... I get that it might not have gotten across with too many fonts in play. Normally I would shudder to use it though, so don't worry about me there.
Thanks agaiiin :)
Kura- OMG KURA! I setup for Satin was great. She comes off as a real threat, like in Halloween when Micheal Myers was built up. It all leaves me wanting more. I can't wait to see part 2.
Jets- I enjoyed the storybook layout you went for on this one. I especially like that young Lady V was treated more like a pop-star rather then a superhero. I laughed when she came out in her new "Strong female hero" outfit, along with the Esher-girl pose was priceless. (I bet she teaches "Super hero marketing" to her students now.) My major problems come from your line quality. You're really good at line-art (you've even given me some good advice), but many of your pages look rushed.
Here's where my graphic design training comes in handy. Your lettering with the PR guys is nice, but why did you use comic sans for the creepy nerd guy? Having 3 different type-styles in anything gets to be a bit much for the reader and isn't very nice aesthetically. First, NEVER use comic sans. Second, the leading is too wide and looks odd.
Overall, you both made some very fun comics! Kura, rest. Just rest, dude.
oh my god you guys, I am so excited I got to read these, such a great match up! Jetster I loved the storybook design of yours, and the hilarious twist to the costume debacle! And Kura- TO BE CONT- HOW COULD YOU AUGH I wanted to see how that amazing fight ended! I LOOOVE your black and whites in this, very intense! You guys made my night!
That's really fair enough. I was going to colour the rest of the comic, but I can see my inking/everything going waaay downhill at the end and I'm with you on the break. Sorry that this is not at the 100% quality I would have liked to put into this.
