The BenT One: What's with all the insane death match vibes from this last round? I guess everyone's just trying to up the ante? Gotta make the semifinals good, right?

Okay guys... School has gotten really busy and I just don't have time for another round of Wacky Races. I've loved participating, but I need time to breathe and be with family. I could just turn in some really crappy comic, but that would be a lame final round. My hope is that dear Despot can continue to the next round and go against JAZ. His comic was still entertaining even though he had less time to do this round than others, so I think he deserves another shot. Plus, that would be a way more interesting final round than just declaring JAZ the winner (plus, I would hate to see the tourney end without her crowning comic to finish it off). I'll be taking a break from VOID for a while, and I wanted to let you guys know so the tourney didn't just end with a stupid default. That would be lame sauce.

dear despot: awesome and hilarious! I love how gross everyone looks, and how messy (but not really all that messy) the coloring is! Bobo: I thought you had only done three pages, so I was excited when I kept scrolling down and down and there was more comic! I don't mind the line widths or the color; it might look bland next to dd's comic but it still looks good. Some things I didn't understand though... where's Regi's head floating from on the second page? And why does Ancelin(?) say "I think I saw something over here" on the last page? Those things were a little distracting but didn't really detract from your comic at all! Good job!

Dear Despot, I love the colors you used, so vibrant and full of contrast. I found it very easy to read. The comic had me laughing out loud I loved it. Very creative and experimental. The twisting road and the cut out dog head were great additions. Also I like your nod to Dolan ;) Great work man. I didn't like how your little wiki note on your characters name was hard to read, I was actually curious about it. Dear Bobo, Your page length was good. The long scroll is easy enough to read. I didn't like your colors, although it was clean and crisp I felt that it was bland. Every panel looked to similar. It seemed like you were too clean, I feel that comics need a little dirt around the edges. Your dialogue was allright though, some funny moments. I say you work on your experimentation a bit, and get a little more edgy with your colors.

PPS--What do you guys think of my page lengths? I want to keep experimenting with adapting comics for web viewing, but I feel like this one may have thrown off the flow and composition of my pages a little bit. Any feedback on that specific aspect would be greatly appreciated!

Dang, dear Despot, I wish you'd had more time. That was quite entertaining as it is, but I wish I could have had more. :) Tofu: Thanks for the critique! I struggle a lot with balancing anatomy and body language, so I know what you're talking about. I also need to develop Ancelin and Bill's personalities better, which is really weakening my art right now. Hopefully I can make them a little more alive in my next battle. As for the line variation, I've been feeling that I need to work on that myself. My OCD makes me want super thin lines all the time so they never look messy, but I'm actually looking into experimenting with brush pens, so hopefully I can improve a bit on that over time. PS--If anyone has good resources to help choose a good brush pen or how to use them (or reasons why I should use a different tool), feel free to PM me or whatever!

Jong: Your comic's a real trip, man. I love the oil painting (acrylic?) effects that you put into this, and the sheer amount of experimentation you managed to make work in this. I won't ask what you were smoking/snorting/ingesting/injecting. Bobo: Super colorful! This entry looks more finished than the rest of your entries so far, and the nod to Mario Kart is cute. While your writing is funny, I can't help but feel that your characters are kind of stiff in comparison to it. Pushing character body language would boost your work a lot. I think that you could also stand to have more line variation in your work (and this is coming from me, who has a hard time with that same issue), so that everything doesn't feel the same.

It will be an honor to get my butt handed to me in this round. But don't think that means I'll go down easy, dear Despot! I'm bringing the battle to you!
