Kura: I loved it so much. Some of those shots reminded me of Soul Eater... not sure if that was intentional, but it was awesome either way. Epic battle, awesome characters, and Flipwulf. Awesome. :)
GPS: I haven't read any of your other comics with Gregory (other than the hook-up jam hahah), but I'm already getting sucked into his story. I wish the whole comic could have been like pages 2-4, but I know sometimes you just run out of time. :) Awesome comic anyways!
Good job both of you! Epic battles yeah!
GPS-Device: Your first page brought done the overall quality a bit as did the sudden stylistic shift between pages 4 and 5, its not clear if she had been knocked out all night and the sun is up or you just ran out of time for that style of shading and just went back to normal black and white, that said the overall quality of art and composition is excellent, which is hard to pull off in a forest. However on the story's merits your comic really shines in its presentation of both characters and yay character development for Gregory!
Majikura: Absolutely loving the effort poured into this and the attention to contrast. The sharp linework and lighting effects really help the overall atmosphere of dread especially with regards to the clothelines scene as Kozi pointed out. Satin comes across as a really creepy character here and it doesn't really hit home just quite how creepy she is until her very last line, up until then I had been running under the assumption she was picking on Gregory for her love fantasy schtick for the evulz and didn't realize just how much of a broken person she was. You did a great job of putting that forth
First off, I really wanna say thanks to everybody for the good words! It really does mean a lot to me. Next, onto individual comments.
Kozispoon: While I hate to burst your bubble, but this battle didn't just take span over a week. It originally took place I wanna say...more than a month ago now? But due to things that aren't mine to discuss, the battle was cancelled about a week before its initial deadline. There was a several week break, but we did manage to come back to it. I am very glad that you liked the work I put into it. This was certainly a writing experiment for me, and I'm happy that you thought it turned out okay!
CrackingSkulls: I realize now that things did get kind of hard to focus. I'll try to make the background lines thinner from now, so hopefully the characters should stick out more. I don't know if I'll really try doing colors like that again, but if I do, I'll definitely try to make the best use of your advice.
Base: Sorry if things got a little confusing. I realize now a lot of my lines were blending together, and not much was really bringing the eye to important subjects in the panels. I'll try to get a note to you specifying what exactly happened, but odds are, it won't much matter, since Kura pretty much has this in the bag :'D
Wutata: What can I say? I love a good blood bath. Haha, but yeah, I do hope you enjoyed my comic.
May I just say- HOLY CRAP. The comics you two busted out with only a week deadline is spectacular! Way to go all out.
GPS-DEVICE: I'll admit, when I saw your first page I was already put off by your comic. I assumed you were pressed for time and your side would simply be a rushed battle. Couldn't of been more wrong! The Action and character development at the end left me with so many questions and an urge to see more. :) really great work story wise- the way you handled the characters was a pleasant surprise. That and I'm always a fan of a minimal color palate in comics so getting hints of red where they really counted was great.
MAJIKURA: As usual, The quality of your battle was wonderful. Your lines are always sharp and your handle of black and whites really come across. I kept going back to that clothesline panel- it gave such a foreboding feeling and really set the scene! I was a little thrown by the story. For as great as your side was, this felt like another 'chance encounter-let's fight!' comic. I'm not saying thats bad, but we already know Satin is a force to be reckoned with. I guess I was curious to know her beyond her mania.
Great comics from both sides!
Kura: Gosh it's great to see Satin back in action! You did a wonderful job at clarity and pacing here, not to mention the action. the only nitpick I have is nearing the end the bg seems a tad rushed, like on page 14 panel 1 and page 15 panel 1. very minor, so overall a good comic!
GPS: Wow you got pretty creative with the outcome of this match! loving the action here as well. I'd say next time be aware of the thickness of your lines on your backgrounds, as it was a bit distracting from focusing on the characters. the pages with colors was a nice touch, but again, using the same light colored highlights on both the characters and background can be distracting and confusing. other than that good job!
Kura: Really nice shading here. Your lines don't feel as artificial anymore, which is a major plus. I feel your perspective shots could be more interesting though, your buildings felt flat and lacked detail.
GPS-Device: Shame you couldn't quite finish this, but you had a decent showing nonetheless. It was a little hard to tell what happened near the end; maybe stretch out the pages a little to show what's happening would help. I especially couldn't tell exactly the injuries caused to each other were.
Holy fsck. Was this supposed to be a scar match or a brutalest death match?
Kura: Hooray for Flipwulf! Your art is pretty stable, flows well and is easy to tag along - no confusing actions and a good long read.
GPS: If I dismiss the fact that you didn't finish up, I'd say this is also very stable. Brutal, but stable comic. It has enough action, doesn't make things confusing even though a lot happens in just 10 pages. I'm still a bit shocked about the 'reality' of what happened.
TLDR: Good work, both of you :)
