Congrabulations, Sixtem!

The One Dark Knight: Fuuuuck youuuuu! I'm posting just as I said because I secretly loved you all along and have come to catch you before you get on your plane! Can love bloom on the comic battlefield, Dark? Thanks for the critiques, guys! I'm glad the comic was enjoyed. This was a fun battle, I'm eager to see the finished versions for those of you intending to finish.

Six: great epic story and characterization! So many jumping off points for the future. Dimension: vibrant colors and attractive expressions. I really dig your alien designs. Omadhuan: effective use of black n white, with a unique tone of dread that I loved. Roflqu: lovely setup and nice romantic angle! I'd considered a SF/Varga pairing, myself. Perca: vibrant stylization, especially the stainglass. Fun and fluid action scenes, as well. Endjoi: best ose of SF's sentai style, which I didn't use to its full potential but glad you did.

Come on guys, if you've got a whole month and then some, at least put SOMETHING up. There's really no excuse for putting no work up/having no work done after a month. I know long deadlines can be really rough, but part (read: 90%) of working on huge projects like this is pacing yourself and knowing what you can handle. Dimension: Nice stuff! I enjoy the backstory you gave here, your coloring was pretty nice, and I like your interpretation of the characters. My main problem is things seemed a little disjointed, I was actually rather unclear to as what the 'main' plot was. I know it was unfinished, but I think at some point I should have been able to tell what was going on. Omahdoun: Wish you'd finished because this was looking awesome. Like the heavy shadows. Roflqu: FUCK man. Fucking NICE looking pages, your art has really come a long way. You still have yet to finish one of these mega events though. I really want to see you actually finish one, I think if you focused on that rather than trying to tell a really grand story that you will (realistically) have no time to tell you will actually complete a comic on one of these someday. Perca: also very nice art! I also think you overplotted yourself (I know you can pump out crazy pages), since you have 14 pages of exposition here. I like the alternate universe story you had going. Mister Kent: Nice concept! Seemed a little rushed, and wish you'd have finished. FINALLY SIXTEM: What can I say man, I really, really enjoyed this comic. It was solid, well paced, had a good, continuous, and strong plotline, and incorporated each character perfectly. You managed to do a FUCKTON of pages in a relatively short period of time so massive kudos for that, I love the quality you were able to keep too. Your fingers must hurt. I also love the somewhat dark/melancholic tone the comic takes near the end. Minor issues: The pacing got a bit off near the end, it seemed like you were rushing to the finish a bit (but I can understand that). I didn't understand why Maltilda had to kill a lot of the later characters, since she was told she wouldn't have to earlier on. I think the pacing mostly bothered me because the rest of the comic was so well paced. I will reiterate what dimension said about establishing shots too - you seemed to have spent a lot of the comic focused in on characters without giving us a breather to look around at environments. Again, I understand this was probably a time issue, but its just something to keep in mind. Sixtem wins this by a long shot. Sorry guys. He was the only one that truly brought his A game.

;-; I really wish more people would at least just leave more elaborate comments on sixtem's entry since he did put a lot of effort into his work and manage to be the only one that finished his story too. @Sixtem: Lovely work. You really handled the story quite well and also managed to give everyone a fair amount of screen time. Your story had an interesting start and Matilda's goal for this was established quite well. I felt that pages 3-4 had way too much text on them, but I understand why. Your inks and paneling were great; good, consistent quality all through-out and having made over 40 pages within 3 weeks is impressive too. Something I felt you lacked though, was establishing shots (I know you did have a few) and varied camera angles. You did change the camera angle a few times here and there, but I think you could have pushed it more. The backgrounds are nice, but I personally would like to see a /few/ pages where the background nearly dominates the page and has all these nice interesting details to look at. Matilda was in a bunch of different environments for this, but sometimes the backgrounds needed a little bit more attention to them so the different locations were better distinguished. The story ending really makes me curious about how Matilda will be in future comics so I hope you make more. Oh, and I loved your portrayal of Li, Frank, and Valpuri very much so. You handled all the characters well, but their part was my fav. Congrats and great job, man! I know everybody else had problems and didn't quite get to finish, but there were still a lot of things that everyone had going for their comic that I liked so I do plan to comment on them later. I probably won't give them a very long crit though.

Sixtem, HOLY SHIT! Good job, sir! I dig this story and the character. I can't wait to see more of her. Perca, I wish I could read the rest of your fairy tale style story.

I really hope everyone will finish there entries, it's some great beginings we've got. Sixtem, congratulations on the amazing amount of work you came threw with, I especially loved how Special Friend is Elvis; excelent direction for both characters. Dimension and Rolqu, yo uguys killed the art departement, gorgeous pages! ...

Sixtem, I enjoyed your story from beginning to end, great job! I loved your version of all characters and the way you developed mine was impressive, thank you for the great read. As for the other in the same boat as me, it was indeed an interesting read and for the ones aiming to complete the comic later, you have my support. As for me, I'm not one to have steam to take on unfinished bussiness after the cool down, so I won't promise a bb or anything related. I'm pretteh busted by other projects and I need to focus on them if I wanna make a living out of it, but I can say that I probably will end up using spiral on other projects in the future. And as for Void, I must repeat Qyzex on that: "I must take my leave from Void for a good long hiatus. I'm drained. I'd love to come back down the line though, but for now, I just can't do another battle." Love you all and would like to thank the responsible staff for picking me for this tournament, I won't apologize again for the unfinished business, and I hope you're able to enjoy those few pages I managed to put together.

I will say this. Those of you who did turned in, had awesome work, despite being incomplete and I really do hope you finish your comics later. Real critiques pending.

Just wanted to say I loved drawing each of these characters--I suck at robots and animals, but Osbot and Espiral were two of my faves. (Sadly I didn't upload all my pages, but I had some favorite moments with Aliz and Elvis and Espiral that will make it in the full director's cut ;) This was fun.

oh, huh. Nope. Got nothing I mean, I got like, 5 inked pages maybe? But nothing worth submitting. Besides other stuff, I just can't do long deadlines. Shoulda given my spot to someone else.

EMAILED THE PAGES. I had 46 and not enough time to stack them, and the uploader only goes to 30. A lotta stuff came up and I lost about 3 weeks of time to work on it, but I managed to finish without sacrificing my quality. It was a fun battle, and I hope we can have some big ones like this again! Good luck to everyone else, and my condolences if stuff kept you from completing. Can't wait to see what everyone did!

Uploaded at least something. I missed two weeks of drawing time because I had a job, then spent rest of the time doing a freelance piece, illustrating a book and doing a lot of school work. While I'm sorry I couldn't finish, I believe I spent my time the best way I could. I have over 20 pages of this comic as sketches, but rather do them properly and submit as a beyond battle. This was interesting, thanks for letting me participate.

Well... I fucked up too and couldn't finish. I think this is the hardest I've ever fucked up in a Void battle though. ;^; I cut so many pages out of the story so this ends up making no sense what so ever...I'm sorry; things didn't quite go as planned for me either. I think I may have to email my pages too, the uploader isn't working for me. Edit: Emailed them to Angieness.

Perca, It's totally not your fault, sometimes the planets just aren't aligned. my excuse isn't nearly as cool as everyone else's. I got massive writer's block coupled with jury duty. still gonna do the best I can, wish it was more. If nothing else, I won't be defaulting.

I figured i'd be able to handle it since it was just a few pieces... but it seemed like they liked my work and a 4 piece contract soon became a 32 piece contract. I hoped I could get something in this week but I'm traveling back to Peru on the 1st of August (been in Argentina for 3 months).. so yeah. I'll try to pull a few all nighters this week amongst SotS2 pieces and packing to present at least a few pages and I want to sincerely apologize and wish the best of luck to all the other competitors. Sucks to see OSbot go like this, but its no one's fault other than mine. Hey, you had to deal with the hand you were dealt. Congratulations on your opportunity and keep a chin up. After all, there'll be other SDTs. Thanks for participating all the same!

I'm in the same boat as Omadhaun. (And from what I hear, I'm not the only one.) However, I have no intention of rushing an ending for the sake of 'winning'. You'll get all I produced for it. My focus on quality left me a bit high and dry. At the very least, hopefully everyone had a good time with what they did and NO one should be outright defaulting and turning in nothing still. EDIT: I think I'm going to finish this as a Beyond Battle at a later date.

Just to let everybody know before people get disappointed later: I had some issues to deal with and got a freelance opportunity that I couldn't let go, and sadly that won't allow me to finish this since it's a weekly deal that I have to deliver and can't manage to get the rest of my pages done. I won't default, but I'm posting just the sufficient to not have a instant default for page count. The story is far from over (it was going to be about 60 - 90 pages) and I wasn't even able to draw all the characters in the pages I managed to get done (about 17). I would like to apologize in advance, thank everybody for the opportunity and I won't promise a bb this time since I have no idea for how long I will have to work. For all the people involved in this I wish you the best of luck and since I'm aware that spiral is gone after this, I probably will use the character outside void anyway and keep it rolling. All the best and good luck for the ones who stay. I won't post what I have so far now since there might be a chance that I can color some of the pages, I will wait for the last few days, but I'm pretteh sure that I won't be drawing more for this since I won't have time to.
