Bent: I'm glad you didn't just default and I thought it was cool you showed your thumbnails. I thought your page layouts were pretty cool and creative. I would have liked to see them individually as full size roughs, but I understand you didn't even get that far. Still they looked nice for what they were.
A.J!: Your comic was pretty cool and I thought that the way you had Zedan escape was pretty creative. You demonstrated some pretty well worked perspective in a few panels, but then others you just had a couple of rectangles to represent buildings. In those cases it would help if you through in a bit more detail and even rough perspective to distinguish them and give them depth.
Another thing to work on is varying your line widths on your characters especially. Adding more blacks where you can and giving them thicker outlines as they get closer to the foreground would help them to pop out more. I wasn't really a fan of the coloring as it was pretty washed out and incomplete looking. Overall though this was a cool comic and I like your style. Nice work.
Bent- I'm a bit sad because you couldn't finish your comic, man, but i understand your choice.
Also, it was cool you did upload your thumbnails man, i was curious.
Man, i enjoyed alot drawing Zedan, i hope you reconsider retire him, and remain around us bro.
Pyras- One of my terrible flaws is not to be very skillfull with PS...shame on me...anyway, i hope to upgrade my knowledge in the future,really.

Thanks for the crits, everyone. I had big plans for Zedan, but it would seem that they are too big for my current skill level. There's too much story and I'm still in school with all those big projects that take up so much time.
That and I have a horrible habit of letting things build up until there's no time left.
That being said, I'm going to retire Zedan for now. He will reappear sometime in the future, but in a slightly different capacity, as he's one of the characters in my Thesis project graphic novel.
I feel that I had a good opening run with Zedan, and I learned my limits.
Bent: You've yet to produce a completed comic. Don't be afraid to start small and work your way up. Angie is right, force yourself to compress a story to around 5 pages next time so you have enough time to flesh out each page.
AJ: Great level up from your previous work for sure, but I agree with Angie that this comic is too bright and the soft brushing is not helping. The problem isn't so much the filter explosion more than that you weren't able to marry both your hand-drawn paper art with the digital stuff. The effect wouldn't be as jarring if your colors were traditional or if the lines were digital, OR if you kept working on those lines in photoshop to make them better and work better with the colors.
AJ that was a really great story. The Bent One, I agree with angieness; you should probably minimize you pages to 3-5 so that you can have more time to complete them.
The_BenT_One-it looks like you're biting off more than you can chew in your comics! The thumbnails present some neat ideas but I want to see some finished comics from you. Forbid yourself from doing more than 3-5 pages until you're able to consistently finish stuff.
AJ-I really like your linework a lot and you do a great job with action. But those colors have got to go! First off I would drop the effects you used on the sky, filters are a big no no and should only be used if you can make it look like you didn't use filters. The really faded colors don't work very well either. Because this is a dark dreary rainy scene, it looks weird to me to see these bright pastel colors. I would also stay away from the soft brush, TopCow seems to be the only people that seem to be able to pull it off, with your lineart style I would rather see cels or cuts. But at the moment it looks more like your went with the soft brush due to inexperience with other brushes which is fine and understandable, we all start somewhere, it just looks like you had a hard time controlling it.

I'm not so sure, since The Spectrum eats emotions. But seeing as Zedan's art projections are tied more to him than reality, I think it's more like it's consuming part of Zedan's essence.
I could be wrong though, since I didn't write the story.
AJ, I have to say that you did a wonderful job of depicting Zedan. I'll see if I can make my version a kind of follow up to this (the story I had planned will actually make more sense that way).
I'm still a little confused as to what The Spectrum was doing when it absorbed the creature Zedan summoned, though...
I'm extending this comic due to 2 MASSIVE projects dumped on me last week.
Also, because I'm designing a new class of VCPD officer for this and future VOID comics...
