The art was nice Slagglle, but budget your time better to give us the best story you can give us. Two half splashes aren't going to cut it.
Le Fred, it felt like you were too married to the format you were trying to tell the stories in. And it's hard to tell anything interesting when you're only giving yourself so much real estate per panel, especially throughout an entire story. What Will said has some truth. When you bust things down this much, there are no characters but just talking heads going back & forth, it's really more of a conversation than a comic at that point. Really it's fine to set things up in some sort of grid work, but don't be afraid to work from there & combine some panels. Heck, you could've stretched a panel to take up two squares, still been in the format, given us a far better indication of the setting & eliminated the need for so many of the Lindsey staring panels.
Overall, I wasn't really impressed with any of these.
Also, isn't Dr. Fab dead?
I thought there was a minimum page thing? Like 3 pages minimum and otherwise it's a default loss?
I mean, it is a very pretty page and all :)
Fred. This was the most amusing comic of 2011 so far. I mean, it's only beginning of 2011, but I'm sure it will stay on top for a while (at least for me ;) )
Visually Slagglle that is an attractive page which is aided more by the colors than by the linework. It's great that you've got such a vibrant and detailed background but I feel like the thinness/pixellation of the lines detracts from it overall. Those lines could stand to be a tad bit thicker and perhaps a bit more confident, they looked kinda weak. I really like the black you used to pop Casino out though, and the colors are very nice. It's an excellent scene with cool composition.
LeFred, it's nice to see you experimenting with style and format. I'm not too fond of the colors though. I wouldn't know how to tell you to fix it or what colors to change it to but I'm not feeling it. And I don't know whether it's the talking head format that bugs me (and I know this method is best for these types of comics) the lack of backgrounds irks me too. It might just be personal preference at this point but I see too much space. I do think that the fifth page is the best one overall and doesn't suffer from these points I've talked about.
LeFred: very good use of a grid and panel layout. You should have connected the edges on the bigger panels, but I think that's a minor detail in this comic. Good light fun. I enjoyed it! the only thing I would suggest in the future is that you start experimenting with different line weights.
Slagglle: what I see here looks like high quality work. I wish I could see more of it. don't let your rating suffer because of one one page. Beyond Battle, perhaps? I REALLY want to know the story behind that chase in what looks like Europe.
Slaggle: I was really hoping to see you bring some top work and seeing the page of such quality only makes me want to see more. There is so much adventure and intrigue implied in the two images that I wished you could have expanded upon but I guess that can wait until next time.
LeFredA fun read indeed as always. That certainly explains the whole duel BB we had. (though explanation is probably not needed.) Though the panels were simple the writing well made up for it and had, as PT put it "a Sunday Newspaper" feel. I still like the casino reasoning character, a real heart breaker and I like Pescion being such a good straight (wo)man to his antics and that of others. The characters themselves were played well for their comedic value and I liked getting two comics for the price of one.
A good show ole' bean. ;)
Slagglle - It's a beautiful page. ^^;
Le Fred - You may have skimped a bit on the art department with this Sunday newspaper deal, but the entertainment value is still Grade-A stuff :) I'll say it before and I'll say it again: your writing's great.

Gonna crack open a cider on the weekend, slowly re-read this again and go "ahhhh they don't make them like they used to.......".
