you put on a solid comic and it shows with the results. I like your story enough that I'm even going to keep it in Arena's canon as well
Based alone on what you've done both here and in the forums you've got the potential for some really fantastic stuff in the future, and most importantly, you adapt and improve at a good speed, so keep it up~
@LeFred: I'm glad you liked the comic. Yes the wonders extra time does for one.
@ RoflQu: Thanks for the critiques man, you know I always appreciate them. Yeah, having more time helped with the quality. I really do need to pay more attention to the backgrounds, both people and objects. Oh well a lesson learned.
@ PyrasTerran: Thanks again for battling me. I really liked your idea with the whole Arena being Ivan's "Big Sister" of sorts. I intend to use that in the future comics. :D
Thank you to all who voted, read, and commented on our comics despite the whole site being down thing. XD
shojintakaru: What a big change from your Invitational fights! Your digital colors look much cleaner and nicer than your traditional colors were, I think. (That's not to say to abandon ship with them!) I also really like the inks provided. However, your background people are very lifeless and quickly done in this comic, I think more care could have been given to them in this case beyond just being doll people.
The beach is a tough setting to do stuff with, because it's a very flat and boring setting for a comic, I think. The only real way to break up the monotony is to make hills, umbrellas, and people to break up the space. Stippling would have helped the sand break out and be more visually interesting, too. Beyond that, it was a cool attempt to do a beach comic and you did a fun comic. Hope to see you battling again soon!
PyrasTerran: I think this comic would have done better as Sketchy vs. Arena, because it feels like Ivan Reinhardt is a background element to this comic as opposed to the opponent. I liked how you represented Sketchy's "ears" with a wave, very interesting way of handling that. You really did a nice job putting in all these backgrounds, they really help the comic out.
Beyond improving general anatomy and brushing up on it, I don't have too much to say about this comic. Nice job.
shojin, having two weeks more to work really shows! it looks great, and I'm still laughing from the beauty of that last line after reading Pyras' entry.
Pyras, it wasn't by any mean a bad entry, but it really felt more like it was Sketchy VS Arena than Ivan VS Arena.
so halfway into everything I realized why my lines kept coming out as crap: when I resized the image smaller to take a shot of something, I forgot to make it large right back.
I'm too far gone to rectify the mistake. Expect crappy lines. -_-
