Gorilla Chinchilla vs Pillbug vs Tycho O'Shannessy | Speed Death Tournament 2010 Round 2

Mike: I laughed, I think if you did the last strip as a joke where gorilla kills the other 2 it would've sealed the deal, the other strips would maybe read as a build up to the death that way. The format was good for my short attention span. Amaloo: Your tycho was cool, I thought you could've utilized gorilla a bit more to add to the creepy/funny stuff, like if he was still pillbug's panties or something.. Haha great use of your watercolors here and all your lettering and little details are really improving. good show lookin forward to more.

ToDK: Your cover art is decidedly entertaining. I'm very sorry you didn't complete this piece-- I bet it would'a been awesome. Micheal: Every time you submit, you do something new. I respect that. I'm not nessicarily against the strip-by-strip comics you've posted, but I think most of the jokes went right over my head. Sorry. Since the art is so simple, it might'a been nice to see some simple color on these, too. I mean, they're super cute and very much in character, but even in a hurry I know you can do so much more, man! Amaloo: OH GOD, I will never sleep again. I should'a known better than to read this thing at work. My boss and I sort of... stared at the last page, looking horrified. Once again, Pillbug has managed to give me the absolute creeps. It's fascinating. I actually understood the flow of action, so don't stress about that. I... can't tell if I have anything to critique on this one, or if I'm just having trouble adjusting to what I just saw. Hm. I'll get... back... to you? yes.

Haha my overall vote is going to Amaloo here. Though I gotta give props to Mike, it was kind of a neat idea but it didn't really fit with this tournament I don't think. Its too bad about your entry though TODK, I really liked yours in the first round but life can get in the way, I definitely feel you on the whole school thing thats for sure, its gotten in the way of both my entries so far.

Or if you are thinking about conitnuing this style perhaps breaking out the traditionals could benficial...ink washes, crow quill, brush..etc etc...I thought these were chuckle worthy but not Guffaw worthy but I still marked you up on creativity. I'd like to see you do more of these...I'd like to see a Murder Bullets Strip..

TODK- You already know I loved your first comic. It makes me sad to not get to see another one from you, but: LIFE>VOID so it's understandable. Micheal: I really like these silly comics from you, they're funny and kind of disturbing at the same time. I'll echo what the others said about colors and tones. With just the line work it looks a wee bit plain. Still neat comic, it was a nice change to see a comic strip instead of straight up pages. Amaloo: Wow, I think this is my favorite comic by you so far. The watercolors look really nice, but all that tape is a little distracting over them. Maybe glue would be better? Anyway, great comic, keep it up.

dark knight -- man, i would have loved to see that comic-- so cute. harris -- cute, clever -- but the humor just didnt tickle me, hit or miss type shit yah? thank you for keeping consistent with the style though, big ups! amaloo -- mmhmhmhmh, you are what VOID was to me back in the day man.. raunchy as fuck i love it. and watercolors.. loved it!!!

Phil, it's not that I don't want to hear it, it's just most of the time(as I recall) you have an asshole tone, and I don't really understand your point of view. Maybe if you explained why you feel what you feel more clearly(not necessarily on this piece) it would be a little easier for me to grasp. I will check out these Perry Bible adventures, though. They sound fun. Luniara, I tried textures and tones but when I shrunk it down, it looked like a mess, so I will try to find something better and more newspapery.

TODK: Such is life ! =( Michael: I thought you were very creative in the aspect of going comic strip. It was something new coming from you and I loved it. Alas, there was no punch-line, just silly-ness. I gave you a heavy score on creativity regardless though. =) I wish there were more to it like tones or a bit of that ol' comic strip comic tone colors. That's okay though. Cute no matter what. TODK: School happens. Michael: I'm a big fan of Perry Bible Fellowship. The formula to those comics is simple, build up, build up, build up, PUNCHLINE! I didn't see any of that here. I liked pages 3 and 1, but everything else just didn't seem very funny to me. I'd say that you should look up comics like Perry Bible, but I doubt you'll want to listen to me. Last thing: Where's the death? Amaloo: OK, this was just as disturbing as the last, but I liked how you set the story here and the pacing. I wasn't quite sure what was going on, I think you could of used some exposition in the beginning as to what offer was given to Tycho. The ending was pretty fucking disturbing, but I wish you could of shown a little bit more of your opponent's character. Art was pretty cool, but you should try to put in more background details as opposed to those pictures on the walls. Very solid entry nontheless, quality and story alone has my vote.

Not going to get anyone's hopes up, but this is going to be a forfeit on my part. Really sorry to disappoint (again). The problem with 1 week deadlines is that if anything gets in the way (ie, school), I'm pretty boned. Ended up having way less time to draw this than I thought plus the deadline being a day closer than I initially thought, end result is having literally nothing done outside of the sketches. Feel free to throw your rotten fruit now.

I'll be poppin some popcorn in a few hours. :D
