haha well I only commented on the pencils not being cleaned up because I really didn't have much else to critique. Like I said before the pencils were lovely, I'm just a stickler for presentation after having it rammed into my head the past 4 years in college. I know there are several artists on the site that do purely pencil work like Canaan, Foo, and Lysol (the latter 2 as far as I know never ink their work) so I really don't mind a fight being just in pencil. When all I find wrong with your battle is the pencils being smudged in areas and the pages having copyright info on them, that's pretty good

My beef isnt the votes or the outcome, im not trying to say i should have more credit or beat dawg or whatever. Im just saying IMO if your gonna crit something criticize stuff that actually needs to be improved, telling me to get a better scanner or erase borders in pshop isnt really going to improve my sequentials drastically. But your right, it doesnt really matter, i guess i cant get my point across properly so its just a circular debate going nowhere.

The story is Comedian gets kicked out of club decides to use his comdey for evil, first act is cock blocking nine days, thats essentially the story i wanted to tell.
As far as being a pro, yeah i ve gotten paid to work before, the point of me showing those pages was not to say i was pro, but to show people what a penciller does. I'm trying to get my skills to a pencillers level, im trying to show you an example of the kind of work im preparing for.
And if you really want to call people fucking morons, id find it amusing if you did that when you didnt have about 1000 miles or more between you. No joke id really find that amusing.
You didn't even FINISH the fucking story moron. What is there to read aside from J-pop gets kicked out of a comedy club (how many times have I seen this from Dawg's side of the fights he's in) and hits on Nine's girlfriend? Oh, and you are not a fucking pro, yeah you've got the art to prove me otherwise, but a real pro penciler would finish his comic project regardless of the time, and how many pages he had to do!

when you challenge a fighter theres a box that allows you to set the amount of pages for the battle. Therefore dont look at a battle that says 3 pages and expect, desire or want more than 3 pages, that is why there is a setting. As far as blueline copyright \"crap\", uhhh i liked it there, i see battles where people use paperbags as background textures for their battles. Contrary to what you may think, people have jobs and other responsibilities. If i say all i had time for was 3 pages in 28 days, it means not that it took me 28x24 hours, but thats i only had enough time set aside to do 3 pages. to make it clear i did this in 3 days, and spent approximately 8-14 hours per page on the art, maybe an hour or so per page on lettering/scanning messing with levels. thats how much time i had set aside.
This is pro finished paid work by another artist before the inker comes, be shocked and amazed as you see stray marks, logos and even smudges. Its your right to vote however you want and say leave what comments you may, Im just letting you know that to me comments about stray pencil marks or not liking a copyright image or logo in the back are wastes of time, your saying essentially nothing about the work in front of you. Its like if someone asks you about a drawing and you tell them the 75 watt lightbulb casts a bad light on the paper. I mean your talking about a stray marks cluttering up the gutters, uhh wtf does that have to do with the art?
I think more of you should concentrate more on the art and storytelling in your pages rather than how white the borders are, how many smudges you cleaned from the page, or how well you cropped out the a logo on your pages. And personally thats what i would try to critique when im supposed critique your pages.
Physic... You had 4 weeks dude, unless you've had some really horrible month or something, the fact of the matter is you still had 4 weeks to turn in 5 completed pages, and all you've got to show is 3 pages of a 5 page comic with nothing but penciling, the blueline pro copyright crap on the top and bottom, and unerased pencil marks that seem to clutter everything along that 1/2 inch white space boarder surrounding each page.
I'm not telling you your paneling is ass, I'm not pressuring you to color this comic, I simply want you to give us something FINISHED! And the funny thing is, you're a decent artist as well, but you could of at least put in more effort into finishing those last two pages and cleaned everything up. Or is this something you need to debate about to cover something up?
Dawg, you got my vote for not only putting the effort into your half, but also for having a finished and very entertaining comic (not going to say anything about the style since it really works, but I feel like you could use more backgrounds). Kinda felt like the tones took away from the line work as well, but it still read well, and I don't know what you people think, but I thought Ninedays WAS involved in this comic (the black guy who turns into a Mexican after the shooter duel).
Personally i think you guys put too much premium on layers of work, rather than actual quality of work. Some one can pencil ink color and use fantastic lettering. That to me, doesnt mean that it shows high skill or high quality, it doesnt make it more creative to me. It doesnt even mean someone put in more effort. Some people can do all that in a few hours, some people could do two fully inked colored pages in the time it takes me to a background in one of the panels. And yeah, what makes a comic a comic is pictures with words and a sequential story, what mediums you use, dont decide how complete it was.
We re all here for entertaining our selves, improving ourselves or both. So i take your criticisms in that context. As far as improving my work I dont see much point in coloring, i have accepted that i will never be able to do a comic in a timely fashion if i have to color it. I could do covers, pinups, or graphic work in color. Following some of your advice would seem to lead me down the path of a way simpler basic style, that i could color and do more pages faster. which might get me more wins here, but would probably make my art and skills suffer. And probably wouldnt get me too many gigs actually penciling, maybe they' d tell me to be an inker or a colorist, or art correction person.
Theres a lot more to a comic, and art than getting a crisp line or throwing colors on a page, what about paneling, storytelling, figure work, expressiveness, naturalism blah blah. Anyhow thats just to let you know how i see it. Like i said its really a matter of perspective, and what you want to get out of your work.
eh in my opinion neither should win. dawgs comic seemed to have nothing to do with ninedays, i mean i read it, but if he is in there i cant rememeber. could you not think up a story idea for the two characters, so had to rely on wizard world? i think it works better as a beyond battle
physic your pages are good, but you could atleast remove the comic page stuff around the edges. and if you know you might only do three pages then maybe write a story that can fit in three pages, what you have there is not an ending.

Anyway, I do love your style physic but dawg got that one. yours is gorgeous to look at, but the plot was kinda ramdom for my taste (even for me - most random retard of this place ;-D). The backgrounds are awesome and made me droll all over my keyboard and your take on dawg's character was precious too. But again, unfinished battles are a no no... Next time, watch out for doing a unfinished plot, that kills your audience...
And for dawg.. I already told you this: I wanna try that fancy look coloring someday! Those pages made me laugh so hard even if I wasn't at WW, as I already knew what happened and such. Next year.. awww Anyway, the pacing was great, use of tones with colors made my day. Your take on phy's character was also nice, and I enjoyed reading your side a lot (third time already lol)

Physic, gorgeous pencils.... but they're still just pencils. By saying, \"I'm a penciller,\" you just admitted that you've only done one-third of a comic. Add to that the fact that J-pop's story actually had an ending, and I don't think you really have anything to brag about.
I disagree on the pencils, for some reason I've always liked the raw quality you get when you leave things as-is. It's clean, but it's clean in a not-so-clean way, if that makes any sense. Phys, your style is definately one I enjoy a lot, and I hope to see you battling again sometime soon.
Phys if you just see yourself as a penciller then you might benefit a lot from cleaning your work up. The pencils do look great but it loses the professional look when there are smudges, stray lines, the copyright info of the paper company, construction lines, etc. all over the place. A lot of that would have been extremely easy to clean up by using Photoshop and would have made your pages look a lot better.
i look at myself as penciller, so pencils are complete work to me. a matter of perspective i guess. As far as time, 3 pages was about the limit of what i could do in the time frame with my other responsibilities. I signed up for a battle knowing i might only get 3 pages, ideally id have wanted 5, and the ending would have been a lil different, but didnt have the time. such is life. Good battling ya dawg, now go battle some more people!
