Sands-- Good first showing! I like the simplicity, and though it's been said before, you do need to work on your backgrounds.
Def-- Good work also, I can't say I agree with all the crazy colors, but I think that's more of a personal taste issue than anything else. You were doin' good, and then you didn't finish. Poo.

anyhoo... well, they were both amusing, but there seemed to be a sharper decline in quality in the spandex comic, so i gave a tad more to crawford...
nice first showing for crawford though (this is your first right... or did i miss something... could have, i do have the attention span of a cat at times.)
the one thing i have to say for the both of you is that i am jealous of you coloring skills... T.T

sandpupetter, usualy I would advice not to count on the coloring to make your art awsome... but I have to tell you, your color does inhance your art greatly somehow. it's just a perfect mix. so.. keep that up and work harder on the art, the angles and stories. while I did like your piece very much, it just did not feel very original. Humour is not always a proof of originality, so i'm not telling you to go there. on the contrary, I do think you found your style and your voice. all I say is that you need to perfect it to play it just right

Defspade, I do think your art could be sharper, and that an unfinished piece is usualy one of the worst crime ever. but DAMN! the way you presented that ending made me laugh so hard that I coudn,t help but think it was genius. the hole piece was great and funny. you just need to sharpen your skill a bit. so... you won.

Sandy- Your colours were nice but your angle choices were pretty standard and boring, there was one panel i fucking loved though and that was Page 7 panel 2, the composition of that panel and how youve cropped the image is really good.
Def- You crazy SOB i love how each comic you do improves and your drawing skills and style are starting to set you apart from the crowd Page 6 Panel 3 is immense, i dont know why but i jsut love it the angle the sense of movement its great. It is a shame you didnt finish but in my opininon your ending that you were gunna do was pretty weak so maybe work on finalising your stories. Like you have this wonderful build up and it sorta falls flat yano? Your colours were pretty good but they wernt a patch on your line art (i loved it) wich is what counts in the end. Colours can only hide lameness from people who dont know about comics, people that do know about comics will be lookngfor your line art.
sand-I really felt like you could have pushed those shadows more, it was obvious where the light was coming from but the contrast just isn't as harsh as it could have been. Also duuuude you need you some more fonts yo! I do think this looked very nice for a first battle, it's a shame you weren't able to color the whole thing. The lack of color in the last few pages did however bring up a weakness, those backgrounds look pretty empty without the colors and shadows. Maybe bust out with some cracks in the wall or just some stray line marks to give that negative space a little more life?
Spade-art wise this was a major upgrade from your previous battles, I was happy to see you take a lot more risks with perspective and such. Be careful with those crazy chromatic colors like that neon green in the background, it really kills the cold atmosphere you have going on. I would love to see you do more stuff like that last panel on page 2, it took risks and was nicely detailed. I'm a little iffy on the proportions on the bottom left panel of page 3, I could be wrong but it looks a little off to me. The bottom right panel on page 5 is also looking a little weird, there's something very unnatural about the way he's putting on that hat. I'm really disappointed you weren't able to finish this, it was a major upgrade for you in terms of art so I'm sad to see it wasn't finished. One thing I recommend in the future is laying down a schedule for yourself to stick by to prevent yourself from procrastinating.

Sandpup: Oh snap, your muted colors are really nice. I like Crawford's natural movements and his character. Could have been more detailed, the panels were simple but not minimalism and they were detailed it was just eh, in between. Lovely comic sir.
Def: Oh snap times TWO brother. I love the shots and angles you come up with and Detective's constant oh. Um. I mean. I like the way you color. BUT ANYWAY, nice nice nice. One thiing you could work on is consistent shadows. On some pages you were consistent but on others there was like. Oddly placed shadows. Just something to work on. I love you though...I hope you know that.
