Pretty much repeat what everyone has said up to this point and you'll basically get my opinion.
Good story on both ends. I get a nice serious plot and then fun action on the end.
Fun art. Kaelin, as always has wonderfully clean pencils and the short time with color was nice. And I really like that tranforming thingy on the third page with Kure. And kure art has that neat gritty-ness that goes along with the action. And the white out stuff was pretty good.
And nekkid people are funny.
Minor complaints: Kaelin, this was mentioned before but is there anyway your blacks can be more solid. It may be my screen but I can tell where you kind of scribbled on the color pages. As well as the last panel on page five (?) with the stairway where I just see these black squiggles over gray.
Kure, people have probably already said enough about clarity. Blah blah blah. I'm just curious what's going on in page 5 panel 3. I think I'm trying to hard to see what's there or something.
I wasn't sure what was going on story wise. I figure it would be easier to understand if I knew the characters and their history some more, but the way it was presented kept me reading. I was very much entertained by both stories. Was that real white out?
Present plained to past and future very well.
Kuri seems like theres alot goin on...to much drinkin' little more clarity.
I liked the Caijun better too. The knew guy he looks straight outta ur ego or somethin'.
Don't get me wrong man, I really like your work. See, if you really developed it as a style; it might save you from tedious maticulousness.
Kaelin seems selling on complex background architecture. Bounces around in quality all in all though, vast improvement. Like a Streddwolf! Straight outta keen space. You deifinatelly get a Scooby Snack!
I really like how you made both battles into one ongoing story. Very nice.
But that also created problems. The transition from Kaelins smooth ultra slick style into Kures gritty atack-inking in the middle of the story was kindof a shock^^
But a great battle from both!
hmmm; who to vote for, who to vote for....I must ponder this quite thoroughly
Dudes and Dudettes...good stories Kaelin and Kure first off.
Kaelin: I thought yours had more quality but I disliked the actual lack of battle between the two and the cliffhanger ending..I hope that there is a beyond battle after this..*nudge nudge*
Kure: Good intense battle...but for me the lack of shading and the same weight in your character lines kinda gave me a headache. Just a little bit of grey would make it even more awesome.
To both: A very nice combination of characters, scenery, and an archdemon nemesis (that is what they are right) I will look forward to seeing you on the battlefields eventually.
Nice story you two! Very nice!
Kaelin: Man, that first page was AWESOME! Why did you give up on the colors?! But, since you're both using the same story I'm focusing on quality between you two, it'd be fair to chose the winner that way for me. Anywho, artwise: This is your fight! Those inks look fantastic, but after seeing that colored page, I really think you would of blown kure out of the water with a fully colored battle.
Kure: I'm giving you major props for the entire storyline, but artwise, this looks like it was done in a week. Not that it's bad mind you, but it looks very rushed towards the end and sometimes things get a little undistinguishable from time to time. But this is still a top notch comic dude. You and Kaelin make a good team. Maybe we'll see some more beyond battles or a rematch from you two soon?
Awesome fight regardless! Mooorre!! WE WANT MOOOOOOOORREEEE!!
Kaelin-great job dude, I think my only complaint is the thumbnails got me pumped for a full colored battle, would have been even better had you colored it. You had good pacing and the inks were awesome. The story intrigued me and kept me immersed until the end. I did notice in a few areas the blacks weren't totally solid, like you could still see where you made the marks, this was especially noticable on the colored page.
Kure-what a difference in feel between these two comics! I was expecting something super serious haha but even though your continuation of the story was a bit sillier, it still made sense and had the same amount of flow as Kaelin's. I really liked how experimental you were with your inks, the effects of blood splattering and explosions looked great. The handwriting was a little tricky in a few areas which is the only thing that really stood out to me.
Both battles were pretty sweet. You guys are two of my faves, honestly. But i'm sorry Kure.. you seem to have gotten the short end of the stick here. Kaelin's half was the more story intensive part and very entertaining. Yours, though filled with fighting, was pretty much just that.. a long fight scene. It was good.. very.. but Kaelin's was a bit better. Plus her art is very clean and though in some places, Kae, it feels unfinished without colors, it's really really nice artwork.
Good job from both of you guys. SO glad to see people not giving half-assed battles or defaulting all over the place.
Damn, both of these comics were really good. It's hard to choose. Kaelin's comic focused more on story, while Kure continued that story with more action.
I would go with Kaelin's comic on this one, as it felt like the whole \"naked chick\" gig in Kure comic fell low.
OH YEAH! There's a Batman spoof on the first page. If you can figure out what it is I'll give you an imaginary cookie. (XD.. No, it's not the bats, and no, it's not a picture of Batman, it's more of a trivia thing).
Liar! XD I don't mind, actually. So long as I don't see the parts. It's Cara I feel sorry for. You were right to draw her flinchy. She'll probably attempt to blind the other eye next time she sees him conscious.
While I'm at it. Great battle. I really liked your half. Both hilarious and well-written. Although for FUTURE reference, I should point out that Cara does not lose her clothes when she shapeshifts. XD They mysteriously and conveniently stay with her.
Fwheeee, uploaded. XD Thank God.. I tried to color this, but I only made it as far as the first page (and then I had a debate with myself over whether or not I should use the colored or black and white version).
I am so glad to be doooone. For anyone who hasn't figured it out, this is a two part battle that continues from the end of Kure's latest beyond battle (Dan vs Kure).
I'll be part one, Kure will be part two.
And on a last note, XD I asked Kure to dialogue my sixth page. I suck at stand-offs.
