Hi...this is my first time posting a comment on Void...but I had little choice this battle was amazingly breath taking!!! The etyles were so similar yet the stories went into very uniquely different directions. Mize; I have seen your work and I am not only impressed by your very proffesional style, but also by your enthraling stories. This once again captivated me, but one concerne it seems unfinished. Even still very Very entertaining...I find myself more and more intruiged by the mysticism behind your character.
Skye: Your style, though very similar to that of Mize, is very much your own...you pulled in an additional 4 characters into this story which raised the tension and heightend the excitment. Bravo on turning the tables on the story by having both characters team up together to combat a common foe.... To both of you I say Great fight...keep em comming! and I hope to do battle with you both someday!
I have to say that I was very impressed by this battle.
Mize: (sorry to call by char name, but I'm bad at remember spelling of sn) I have a hard time judging your battles since the recient ones seem to be just a continuation of a longer storyline. This is great for us Mize fans, but bad for scoring battles. I want to judge each battle individually, and if you have little to no content involving the other player, it is hard for me to give you a good score. Because your art is always above par, phenominal even, I give the votes, but after a while the grade will sink. We love the continual, but each needs to still be it's own entity.
Skye: It was a bit hard to follow. I got it, but in the end, I wanted more. You created more story than you could fill. It happens. I kept being struck by the thought that you need to limit your \"environment\" drawings. I got such a clear picture of where I was and what I was experiancing, but I wanted more of the story. I was floored by your abilty to colour low-light. I found myself holding my breath. Your colouring is very well done. Some of your lines are confused on whether they are quick motion or stand still. But all in all, I gave the battle to you. I am very glad you are joining the battles here. You will be someone to watch.
damn mamoru, awesome sense of motion! all-around wicked battle. u get my vote, but it was closer than the other times i voted 4 your battles. skye gave u a pretty good run 4 your $. cant wait 2 c mize in the armageddon.
Tis sure was hell to find a winner........ u guys both rocked as hard in both quality and entertainment, but I think (For my point of view) had a little more creativity in it.....But still......That's my point of view......Nice job to both of ya.....
Mize: No last pg. Lacking in detail. The coloring you usually do is not there. It's like it's not your work. Getting tired and burned out does that to people's art. Don't lose yourself into your battles man. Rest up you did good. Obviously we all praise you for what you've accomplished you don't have to impress us any further. To keep going like this will decrease your focus. Well enough lecture. I'm sure you'll look at this again later on and say \"damn...I did this?\". Well in any case I like your fight coeography and how you portrayed Skye. I consider you a soldier at this point but what you displayed is something more like a juggernaut that doesn't know when to stop look around himself and realize what he's done, cuz shit didn't look anything like versus. Whether your stuff is up to par or not, I still look forward to ur stuff man.
Skye: Incredible first and awsome anticipation build up for a conclusion. You completely got a \"cool factor\" down in your comic. Clean up ur stuff though and take into high consideration what Pi mentioned. Panel 3 in pg 6 hurts my eyes every time I look at it. The left arm and left leg running is uh! I hate to say it but you need to hear it-it's an amature mistake-you made mize look like a retard, like he forgot how his own body worked or something. Although, highly entertaining, overall good shit.
Good fight you two.
wow, close one guys.
Mamoru - while it was definitely not your best work, I can tell that this train of battles has really taken its toll on you. Still, I voted as fairly as I could, and while it looked rushed, you still made it very nice to look at. Story-wise you could have done more, but that last page was totally hilarious.
Solly - damn impressive first outing. Still, it looks like you could use some work in several areas. Firstly, some of your poses looke really stiff and flat, especially panel 3 page 4, panel 4 page 5, and panel 3 page 6. Foreshortening also looks like a problem, which I think was pointed out about your design sheet when you first posted it on the forums. Most notable is the last panel on page 10. On the other hand, you have really great coloring skills, comparable to Mamoru's, and you portray dark and moody scenes incredibly well. That scene with Mize lighting up is gold. Your story telling looks like it could use some work as well, the pacing didn't seem to flow well for me.
All in all, I think I gave my vote to Mize by just one point for having a more fluid story and more consistent art. Still, I hope to see Skye battle again soon with much anticipation.
ah, thanks everyone for the support.
Solly: Oh definitely, if you want we can have Mize and Skye cross each other more than once, if thats ok with you (planning a BB with Skye in it soon)
Also, I uploaded the last page here
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/Mamoru_N/vskye05.jpg so you guys can tell what I did to end the battle.
Wow! You two are amazing!
Skye: you're really good! I am very very impressed with this submittion! I can't believe you're new too! Your action is well done and your character desings are extremely creative! I would love to battle you in the future, even if I lost it would be an honor.
Mize: The same with you, I it would be an honor. Your color skills are so cool and I have enjoyed all your past battles I've read, however this one kind of left me hanging, I'm guessing you ran out of time or something? Still nice but it didn't really have and end. All the same though, very good.
As soon as I get my character uploaded and approved, look me up! Good luck to both!
hmm..i'll try to say what i can..
Mamoru: Awesome artwork as usual, i'm surprised that you can come up with this quality of work with such a tight schedule. It does, however, looked a little rushed, but i can see why, given the workload you have from school in addition to all these battles you were working on. On the other hand, the plot of your comic was a little thin, but maybe it will have to do with a future continuation of the story. I thought that the teaming up idea you mentioned earlier in aim might have worked a little better, but maybe there wasn't enought time to draw all of that either...
Solly: Good artwork, story's not finished tho. The gun on the 2nd last page looks off angle, but apart from that, everything is pretty good. And...uh....republic. uWOH
Did my best to vote fairly, and my vote goes to skye...but only by a margin....good job guys
Mize- What can I say? I'm a big fan of your style (and of red heads... but that's another story) and am growing to be quite envious of your coloring technique. I love how your stories flow from one to the next; as does the excitement. I find myself waiting eagerly, but patiently, for the next installment.
Skye- I found myself really quite astonished at your contribution to this battle. Although I did find myself sometimes confused about the placements of the characters, I was completely enraptured in the hidden symbolism and unique characters you brought into play within the comic. Very well done! I can't wait to see what you do next : )
However, although it was quite painful to tear myself between you two, I had to give my vote, no matter how slight the difference, to Skye. Good job to the both of you, it was a complete thrill to read.
Wow. I'm actually surprised. I've been following (as you all have I'm sure) Mize's awesome run for the past weeks and it looks to me like he may have met his match with this fight. Skye was awesome. great art, etc. Sorry, Mamoru but your story just didn't hold this time.
Alright... who gave the shit vote to skye!? Seriously, if you guys like Mize that much don't make him look bad by giving his opponets a shit vote because his comic isn't up to par this round! I'm one of the leaders of the group he's in... and I'm still voting fairly on this fight, you should to!
Mize: Pretty good artwise man, you know this and we all know this... but I wish you could of finished this up before you burned out mang... pretty exciting to see you fight so many times though!
Solly: What can I say... you're up to par with my pal mize (what happened to your fist page I won't know...) but you get my vote for having a more complete story. Welcome to void man, and great first fight!
Both of you didn't dissapoint... and no more shit votes from you fucking fanboys! Keep it up or something?
Page 1 of Skye's fight is probably an error >>
Good job both of you. And Skye, you got some pretty interesting characters you got bringing with you. Intense buildup, awesome art and I can only hope to see a conclusion to it.
And Mize, HOW MANY FIGHTS DID YOU DO!? Man you really let it ride out until those tires were burning. You're definitely gonna be remembered for pulling this off.
No votes yet but I'll be considering it.
hmm...for solly's battle...seems like the thumbnail of the first page is done correctly, but the link to it isn't? >_>
interesting...both battles seem like they end too abruptly...but...interesting...
