Fresh Face
by Toast on June 21st, 2008

Once upon a time, Galvo came to me and asked if I would code a project for him. Nearly six years later, I'm still working away on it. As you can clearly see, the long-awaited VOID v4.0 has launched. It's been over two years since our last major upgrade, and we've been working on this for at least a year-and-a-half. It is a great relief to finally release it after all this time, but it's far from over! Everything has been tested extensively, but vacuuming up the dust from our work will take some time, so please bear with us as you complete final clean-ups.

Much of the time spent on this upgrade was on dramatic changes to the way we store and display comics. The new system is significantly more open, allowing us and you new freedoms. Not all of this will be immediately available, however, as there is a whole host of features that we're still working on. Many new features will be released as we complete them, so stay tuned for much more.

The changes to VOID aren't just in the coding and databases though, this update re-focuses VOID on the artists and comics in general. There were many long talks amongst the Council and friends about ways to improve the experience for everyone, while making it obvious that VOID is about comics to everyone that visits.

There will be new visitors! In the coming months, we will push VOID and Pulpo Press to the Internet art community, bringing in new artists and attention. Hopefully, some old faces will return as well.

I am greatly relieved to have finally reached this great milestone, but this is truly only the beginning.
