Tag Team Magical Girl Death Tourney

Tag Team Magical Girl Death Tourney

It’s time to transformu-desu!

Magical girls have been pitted against each other for unknown reasons, (or who knows maybe not, maaaybe they’re just evil!)

Either way, it's up to you, and your team, to make it out of here alive.

Anyway onto the important stuff!

Tourney Details

This is a three round tag team DEATH tournament, with two weeks per round!
You can submit new characters specifically for this tournament.
This is a tag team so in order to join, you must find a teammate to work alongside, because what’s a magical girl without a team of friends, friend?
The surviving characters will each get a custom title of “Ultimate Magical Girl Survivor (Name)-chan!” If the character has multiple people within it, the title will change to “Ultimate Magical Girl Survivors (Name!)”

Signups end: February 8th
Tournament start: February 11th

  • You must enter with a teammate. You and your teammate can either create a new co-owned character, OR fight with two separate characters together.
  • You must have a minimum of headcount of 2 on your team. This could either be a shared character duo, or two separate characters fighting together. There is a maximum headcount of 4 magical girls and 2 ‘companions’. A companion can be identified as a small nonhumanoid magical helper.
  • Your characters need a team name! You may have a large team, and this way we won't have to say four names to refer to your team! Besides that, team names are super magical girl like! So if you just give us a team name for your magicals, it’d be much appreciated!
  • Magical girls are mainly defined as fulfilling common tropes set by this genre. You don’t need to use magic or anything, but do your best to be inspired by the genre. What does and doesn’t qualify as a magical girl can vary, but one thing that tends to be important is a magical girl outfit, whether they made it themself, or they transform into wearing it, or they always wear it. They need at least something to stand out from the crowd. The outfit can vary wildly, however going the sentai route is not something that qualifies. (While Sentai characters also have transformations, they're rooted in more shounen themes than magical girls, and while there's nothing wrong with having some shounen elements, there's a big difference between Power Rangers, and Magical Girl animes) Alongside the outfit they do need at least some sort of ability, magic based or not! If you’re unsure if your character qualifies as a magical girl, make sure to ask me, Desi, and I’ll help out some. You may also opt to exclude these things, but if so you need to give something to make sure it reads magical girl! Otherwise I’ll be deciding if a character does or does not qualify as a magical girl.
  • Your magical girls can be ANY gender, don’t limit yourself just to girls, fam!
  • Make sure to showcase ALL of your opponent’s characters being killed in battle! You must kill all “main” characters. A main character is one that appears in the name of the character. For example: If a character is named “Pink Girl and Blue Girl” you MUST show the deaths of Pink Girl and Blue Girl. If Pink Girl and Blue Girl have a magical cat companion, he does not have to be killed if you don’t want to. However, if the name of the character was “Pink Girl, Blue Girl and Magic Cat”, then you WOULD be required to kill the magic cat.

If you do not follow any of the rules above you will be disqualified.

Sign up by commenting below with your character reference sheet, and who you’re planning to join with! If you’re going the shared character route, please mention it's going to be a shared character!
Make sure to submit the characters to the site for the tournament! Be sure to check off the “Tournament entrant (no Intro Comic)” query, or else you’ll have to put in an intro comic.

Borrowed characters and dead characters are not allowed, however existing characters may be used. They must have at least one comic showing them as a magical girl to qualify.

For this tournament we’d like 8 teams of two, so please be sure to sign up with your friends, and we’ll have a jolly magical killing spree!
