VOID Heavyweight Tournament Begins!

[float=right][/float]Well, in my many months of VOID news coverage, I can honestly say I’ve never seen something of this caliber. Ladies and gentlemen, after six long years of anticipation, VOID has brought back the grandfather of all Original Character Sequential Art Tournaments. This week we witness the rebirth of the VOID Heavyweight Title, the very first tournament that gave birth to the site, the community, and probably every sequential art contest that cam after. We can look forward to the coming weeks of battle as fighters from all across VOID’s history emerge to fight for its honor. Twenty-four amazing artists will compete for a shot at being crowned the undisputed champion of VOID, but it doesn’t even end there, folks! From here on out, other artists will be able to challenge said champion for his or her belt, and you can expect this prize will be hotly contested. We’re starting a new chapter in the site’s already impressive epic, be sure to keep up with the tournament on the forums.

This comes right on our heels as we crown a new champion for our very first All-Together Now! Tournament, old school veteran Ponbiki, with his fighters Kaisho Ponbiki and Estrella D’ Muerte. This was a unique format to say the least, and was a great success to see a return of the tag team style. Go check out the forums for all the post-finale action, and be sure to read up on the whole event in the archives!

On the publishing side, our good friends at DAPshow are bringing us a double-header at the news desk. Fowlie’s webcomic Fritz Fargo is going strong, following a young up-and-coming rocker who may or may not be bipolar. Fantastically drawn and cleverly written, go check it out on DAPshow! For those more printingly-inclined, the third installment of the popular Gothology anthology has opened up for artist submissions. If you’ve got some dark, funny, or dark funny stories to tell, go visit the official site for “Theater of Tragedy.”
